Power has been going off and on the past 20 minutes here in Wendell I suspect it's only a matter of time especially if it doesn't make that east turn soon. Hoping I can make it through this game first
10/8/2016 1:31:25 PM
Eastern NC PWNT. Stay home.
10/8/2016 1:37:03 PM
power already back on for me. only 3 hours.
10/8/2016 1:54:34 PM
Power was out for about 2 minutes in Raleigh near Crabtree, just started flickering again. Heard a transformer blow about 22 mins ago. Have been hearing branches break in the distance about every 15 minutes for about an hour (sounds like a firework going off).
10/8/2016 2:14:02 PM
Powers been out about 20 minutes by north hills drive
10/8/2016 2:51:23 PM
Power been out over 2 hours in Chapel Hill/Carrboro.
10/8/2016 3:36:44 PM
Had to love this on a local channel a few minutes ago:Weather alert break to say: "We can't state this strongly enough, if you don't absolutely need to be out, please stay inside. Conditions are dangerous."Small regular broadcast window upper left of screen: local college football game in progress.
10/8/2016 4:16:08 PM
wind shifted and is blowing out of the north harder than it's blown all day. power is out again.
10/8/2016 6:41:08 PM
Bass lake in Holly Springs is overflowing the dam which may breach. The Neuse River at Goldsboro is forecast to crest 2 feet above the Hurricane Floyd record.
10/8/2016 6:56:36 PM
Being from Goldsboro I've seen lots of bad reports out of there on Facebook. My parents lost a huge cypress that split that I planted when I was a kid so sad to see the pictures. Flooding down there seems bad and only gonna get worse over next day or two as rivers rise.[Edited on October 8, 2016 at 7:01 PM. Reason : .]

Just saw the little river near Princeton is about to break its record already and rain hasn't even stopped.

No power since about 3:30 here in Johnston county. Parents have a couple trees down in the yard, no damage to the house though. Ponds on our property are obviously very full...water flowing over in a few places. A dang mess but luckily nothing major (in terms of damage) really.
10/8/2016 8:35:26 PM
a few really old trees down in my hood (Mordecai)power was out from 2-8it's a fuckin mess out there
10/8/2016 8:40:00 PM
University Lake is over Jones Ferry Road just outside of Carrboro. I went over it around 1:30 and it was looking pretty sketchy. Apparently shortly after that, the water got on the road so they shut it down.
10/8/2016 9:05:12 PM
I'm on a the west side of the center of rotation now. Pretty intense wind.
10/8/2016 9:48:11 PM
The wind has been much worse on the backside fit like four hours now, I'm ready for this to end.
10/8/2016 10:30:53 PM
i saw a car taking a swim in the river formerly known as atlantic avenue.
10/8/2016 10:46:19 PM
We have about 22" of water in our culdesac and yard at the moment in Kill Devil Hills
10/9/2016 12:39:18 AM
Where in kdh? I heard ocean acres is really bad as well as anyone just on the west side of the bypass. Back in colington it's raining to the canals, just not fast enough.
10/9/2016 4:32:42 AM
Looks like a repeat of Hurricane Floyd from 1999 regards to the flooding.
10/9/2016 9:02:54 AM
fired up the generator to run the well pump and grab a shower while the water was still hot in the water heater. running the fridge and freezer and charging my phone now.we made it without any real damage. there is one small pine tree on the poperty line that is leaning at about 45 degrees and another in the lot behind my house that broke off about halfway up.hoping the power is back on soon.
10/9/2016 9:20:21 AM
Parents lost a couple little trees on the ditch bank in their yard in Edenton. Brother lost a tree on the side of his property in Rocky Mount. Otherwise, all good.
10/9/2016 9:24:20 AM
will i be able to make it from wilmington to burlington on I-40 this afternoon?
10/9/2016 9:27:26 AM
^ I've seen reports of I40 closed in Johnson County but I'm not a hundred percent sure
10/9/2016 9:28:51 AM
10/9/2016 9:32:17 AM
damn. looks like it is closed between 42 and 70.
10/9/2016 9:33:12 AM
My parents were going to try to drive from Fort Mill south of Charlotte to New Bern today. After hearing McCrory talk on the Weather Channel, I just called to ask if they were watching the weather, they said no, and then let them know "I'm not sure how you're getting home". Highway 70 is shut east of Selma. 4 sections of I-95 are closed. I-40 is shut near Raleigh and down in Pender County. Fayetteville, Clayton, and Rocky Mount don't go anywhere near, the highways there are terrible. I said their best bet may be to make it to Wilmington and then go north, although that may not be much of a bet.[Edited on October 9, 2016 at 9:38 AM. Reason : /]

i'm wondering what 421 is like. i live on 421 in Pender and that goes all the way there.

I 40 was partly open in joco this am. Nc 50 was open at least to benson, but a lot of the side roads are still flooded or blocked.
10/9/2016 10:45:48 AM
google tells me to take 421 to clinton, then 701 to newton grove, then 50 to get around a closure between exits 341 and 334, then 40 the rest of the way.
10/9/2016 10:52:36 AM
701 was closed this morning. Clinton are is pretty bad with flooding so you might not be able to go that way.If you can get to kinston, 70 is supposedly open. Problem is 70 always floods in kinston.a
10/9/2016 12:20:45 PM
i think i'm gonna give it a shot. nothing else to do but sit here at home and listen to the generator run.
10/9/2016 12:39:58 PM
10/9/2016 1:03:22 PM
421 was good from Wilmington to Clinton
10/9/2016 1:59:58 PM
701 was good to go too. Westbound 40 was closed, just had to detour down 50 for a few miles. Back on 40 now.
10/9/2016 2:27:59 PM
Goldsboro and Wayne County got hammered with rain...flooding everywhere. Expecting more.
10/9/2016 6:03:41 PM
70 is open from raleigh to newbern. Theyve a lane merge between Goldsboro and Kinston, one way traffic due to water on one side. One possible concern, Neuse River has not crested in Kinston yet, so theres a chance they may shut 70 down at Neuse River Bridge. Biz 70 was closed into downtown already.
10/9/2016 7:14:28 PM
Family in Lumberton, it's in reeeeeally bad shape.
10/9/2016 8:08:44 PM
got home from burlington and the power is already back on. damn i love electricity.

Shit, my father lost everything due to flooding
10/9/2016 9:47:11 PM
^where's he at?
10/9/2016 10:05:55 PM
Want to say JaZon is from Nash/Edgecombe area, but I could be wrong.
10/9/2016 10:12:50 PM
^ yep. Edgecombe.
10/10/2016 12:45:41 AM
Did his shit flood in Floyd as well? I have quite a bit of family around Edgecombe/Nash as well, but everybody is good. My brother just bought a place on the Tar River Resevoir last month. He sent me some pics and the Resevoir is high but the dam at the end is out of control with water going all over it.
10/10/2016 6:01:32 AM
my power came back on last night....but people within ~1 mile of me still don't have it. me and my family (in johnston county) were fine. others close by weren't as lucky. some homes in a nearby subdivision flooded and the folks had to be rescued from their homes. a few local farmers i know had extreme flooding. luckily our ponds held up to the rain.
