Power has been going off and on the past 20 minutes here in Wendell I suspect it's only a matter of time especially if it doesn't make that east turn soon. Hoping I can make it through this game first

Power was out for about 2 minutes in Raleigh near Crabtree, just started flickering again.

Heard a transformer blow about 22 mins ago. Have been hearing branches break in the distance about every 15 minutes for about an hour (sounds like a firework going off).

Had to love this on a local channel a few minutes ago:

Weather alert break to say: "We can't state this strongly enough, if you don't absolutely need to be out, please stay inside. Conditions are dangerous."

Small regular broadcast window upper left of screen: local college football game in progress.

Bass lake in Holly Springs is overflowing the dam which may breach. The Neuse River at Goldsboro is forecast to crest 2 feet above the Hurricane Floyd record.

Being from Goldsboro I've seen lots of bad reports out of there on Facebook. My parents lost a huge cypress that split that I planted when I was a kid so sad to see the pictures. Flooding down there seems bad and only gonna get worse over next day or two as rivers rise.

No power since about 3:30 here in Johnston county. Parents have a couple trees down in the yard, no damage to the house though. Ponds on our property are obviously very full...water flowing over in a few places. A dang mess but luckily nothing major (in terms of damage) really.

University Lake is over Jones Ferry Road just outside of Carrboro. I went over it around 1:30 and it was looking pretty sketchy. Apparently shortly after that, the water got on the road so they shut it down.

fired up the generator to run the well pump and grab a shower while the water was still hot in the water heater. running the fridge and freezer and charging my phone now.

we made it without any real damage. there is one small pine tree on the poperty line that is leaning at about 45 degrees and another in the lot behind my house that broke off about halfway up.

hoping the power is back on soon.

Parents lost a couple little trees on the ditch bank in their yard in Edenton. Brother lost a tree on the side of his property in Rocky Mount. Otherwise, all good.

It was the media's fault for all this saying we were all in the clear on Tuesday when the storm was firstnpredicted to shift on the models.

My parents were going to try to drive from Fort Mill south of Charlotte to New Bern today. After hearing McCrory talk on the Weather Channel, I just called to ask if they were watching the weather, they said no, and then let them know "I'm not sure how you're getting home". Highway 70 is shut east of Selma. 4 sections of I-95 are closed. I-40 is shut near Raleigh and down in Pender County. Fayetteville, Clayton, and Rocky Mount don't go anywhere near, the highways there are terrible. I said their best bet may be to make it to Wilmington and then go north, although that may not be much of a bet.

I 40 was partly open in joco this am. Nc 50 was open at least to benson, but a lot of the side roads are still flooded or blocked.

google tells me to take 421 to clinton, then 701 to newton grove, then 50 to get around a closure between exits 341 and 334, then 40 the rest of the way.

701 was closed this morning. Clinton are is pretty bad with flooding so you might not be able to go that way.

If you can get to kinston, 70 is supposedly open. Problem is 70 always floods in kinston.a

70 is open from raleigh to newbern. Theyve a lane merge between Goldsboro and Kinston, one way traffic due to water on one side. One possible concern, Neuse River has not crested in Kinston yet, so theres a chance they may shut 70 down at Neuse River Bridge. Biz 70 was closed into downtown already.

Did his shit flood in Floyd as well? I have quite a bit of family around Edgecombe/Nash as well, but everybody is good. My brother just bought a place on the Tar River Resevoir last month. He sent me some pics and the Resevoir is high but the dam at the end is out of control with water going all over it.

my power came back on last night....but people within ~1 mile of me still don't have it. me and my family (in johnston county) were fine. others close by weren't as lucky. some homes in a nearby subdivision flooded and the folks had to be rescued from their homes. a few local farmers i know had extreme flooding. luckily our ponds held up to the rain.
