the nsx hybrid package is battery driven motors, 1 per front wheel. with an engine in the back, I can't see how the vette would do it any different. with an ohv NA engine, there's no notion of torque fill. seems like they're targeting the nsx, turbo s, and gtr. I'm excited by all of it

For the Zora, yeah that's gonna be the case.

The Grand Sport? Heck no - obviously they're not adding 500 lb of crap to gain 100 hp.

that's exactly what they did in the nsx. its less the total power addition and more the torque vectoring and the fill of areas under peak torque curves. I suppose they could do something like KERS where they replace the flywheel with an electric motor, but the weight for all of this comes from the batteries more than the motors so I'm not sure the advantage of adding 65% of the weight for 25% of the benefit vs an awd system

Finally saw one in person. Downtown on Martin Street last weekend.

Also a Huracan and 570S (not together). Guess people wanted to cruise in their nice cars on that beautiful day haha.

^did you think it looked nice in person?

I've yet to see one but I'm in the "looks like a generic Hot Wheels/GTA car" crowd.

I've seen a few in person. The front end looks really busy with all the extra plastic in the grill. I think the back looks bad from almost any angle, with or without the spoiler, but the 3/4 view looks good. I'll still probably get the z06/grandsport

^ seriously?

it will 'only' have around 650 hp, but it will equal or better the performance of many 800-1,000+ hp ICE 'hypercars'.

The visual modifications look pretty tasteful. Wish I liked the way this car looked more, but their requirement to be able to fit a set of golf clubs really killed the rear end for me.

Who likes the C8 more than the C7?

The more I see them the more I think I prefer the C7 widebody. Better proportions, lighter, manual transmission.

^^CONGRATS! Nice color. Look forward to the video(s).

^Because GM is intentionally throttling back production, even though officially they're not. I have a friend that put down a deposit 2+ years ago. Still waiting.

I believe the factory says 190-200 mph. But it varies based on aero options.

^Good luck! Also laughable that a Z51 Stingray would be valued at $120k, regardless of fancy trim.

Good good. All the PCA car auctions (the only ones I really pay attention to) do basically the same. $25k for taxes.

I FINALLY got the z06 to the track. The ps4s are nowhere near enough for the car. I think cup2s are probably the sweet spot if you want any life out of the tire beyond a single track day. It definitely needs a track alignment. The zr1 will have the same size wheels and tires and ~40% more power. I don't think it'll be a very enjoyable vehicle on track without slicks and even then, it'll be very expensive to run. might not get one after all

I can certainly see that. Seems like tire technology was advancing faster than car performance (& power) for a while but I think that's changing. Especially with how heavy cars have gotten.

To get the most out of these next level performance cars the consequence is probably shredding a set of tires per track weekend.

a full weekend I could stomach. the cup2r's dont make it more than a day when you're pushing and they drop off greatly before the day is up. at 2700/set, i'd rather drive a race car

honestly, that was my exact sentiments in the first session driving the z06. a section of esses i normally do flat I had to coast for and felt all the weight transfer and I just thought "gross." im sure its elite for a street car, but it felt like mushy garbage coming out of a tube frame race car. I just went from a 1660lbs car to a 990lbs car. I can't see logging much seat team in the vette on track. it's an amazing street car though

Just like the track will ruin you for the street, racecars will ruin you for production cars.
