I doubt it. OKC is worse off without KD, for sure. Westbrook is a really aggressive and athletic player, but his basketball IQ isn't all that high. I know it's 'his' team now, but I don't think he can do it all by himself.

Did you even watch the game last night? I realize one game is an awfully small sample size, but I'd really like to know how OKC has improved dramatically, while losing their best player.

^^ who is making that argument?

Westbrook is undoubtedly one of the best players in the NBA and is much more than just "an aggressive athlete with low basketball IQ"

you sound like an old white scout with all of that code

Wtf dude. I think he's a great player and hes extremely difficult to guard, but you don't think he's got a serious problem with turning over the ball and forcing bad shots? FOH man. None of that shit has anything to do with me being a racist. Btw, nice try putting words in my mouth. "Isn't all that high" =/= "LOW". Perhaps I meant average?

Fucking idiot.

Westbrook dropping 50 was pretty much the only shot OKC had at winning last night.

He had a first quarter with 5 assists and 9 points and they were only up 1. The rest of the game no one on that team could do anything and he had to force things. It didn't work...so they lost by about 30. That's pretty much how that game is going to go 9 times out of 10. OKC has ZERO shooters (I don't know how they couldn't find a good shooter or two in FA this year). So opposing teams can load up the paint and shade extra defenders towards Westbrook (what GS did last night). If his jumper isn't on point, they're screwed.

He's one of the best players in the NBA...he just has no help. He doesn't have a low basketball IQ...you do.

How the fuck is he supposed to get his revenge without any help? Do you happen to read the actual words in my entire post that presented actual reasons WHY I don't think he'd get his revenge? I don't think you did, considering you complete misattributed some of my words to bring up some bullshit red herring about racism. Nice try, but I know what an old white guy using 'code' means, and so does anyone else with half a brain. Can you just admit you're looking for reasons to troll me in sports talk because you're bored and have nothing better to do?

So in other words, he'll put up all those insane numbers you just came up with, despite having very little help, and OKC will win. I don't think that's going to happen, especially against a team with his former BFF that played with him for like 8 years and the reigning MVP. But it's cool that you do.

Where did I ever say it was impossible?

In the future, try reading the actual words people type out. After you've read them once, try reading them again. If you're not sure what the words mean, try looking them up in the dictionary or annotating the words and key points presented. When in doubt, you could also come up with a list of questions to help you think more critically. It will prevent a lot of grief and misunderstanding in the future.

I'm not freaking out about anything. You're the one that invented reasons to troll me based on a basic and simple comment that was responding to Westbrook hypothetically beating the Ws in February.

Maybe instead of attacking and dismissing what I wrote, you should have asked: what do you mean that Westbrook is athletic and aggressive, but his basketball IQ isn't all that high?

If you had done so, I'd point out that while he's freakishly athletic and quick and probably the most effective slasher in the game I can think of, he also forces a lot bad shots and turns the ball over when he's playing too fast and out of control. Part of the reason he has to play so out of control is that he has to do everything himself now, especially since KD isn't around. In reality, this isn't a new issue with him. Part of what makes him so dangerous is also part of his weakness.

If you're arguing that he doesn't do these things, I'd like to hear why not. Perhaps I am imagining weaknesses he doesn't actually have.

he's 6th in PER so far this season

you're arguing your perception of him as a player without KD without using any evidence, other than OKC losing last night. them losing last night doesn't mean OKC can't beat them when they play in OKC, which is what you're fixated on

he's been great so far this season

No, I'm actually saying that despite how great of a player he is, he can't do it all on his own, all the time, which means OKC probably isn't going to be as good as they were last year. Hence, I don't think they will beat the Warriors this season, even if it's at home, and even if he goes into God mode. Maybe they will be able to figure something out; maybe he will post those ridiculous numbers you posted and it will be enough or even more than enough to win; maybe the Dubs will have an off night, and maybe the Dubs will collapse due to chemistry issues, or devastating injuries. All of those are possibilities.

But yes, based on what I saw last night, and based on what I've seen of Westbrook in many, many games where he plays out of control, forcing bad shots, and turning the ball over constantly, I doubt they will win in February. Feel free to disagree, but twisting my words and insinuating I'm a racist is the definition of trolling. I come in here to talk about NBA basketball because I enjoy it. I like reading other people's opinions, even if I don't agree. I am often wrong in my analysis, but sometimes I know what I'm talking about too. There's no need to make it so personal.

code for what? stereotypes based on racial attributes/perceptions of black athletes? c'mon dude. why even bring it up if you're going to try to walk it back. I've given much more vivid descriptions about him in the past if you'd like to dig through my posts. I'm not a hater of his by any means. My initial comment on this page even points out that I felt bad for him, given how poorly KD handled the whole thing, and how much fun everyone else seemed to be having during the game. That has seriously got to suck big time if you're Westbrook.

Interesting. What is coded about calling someone athletic when they are a freak athlete? What is coded about calling someone aggressive when the bulldoze their way to the rack without abandon? What is coded about saying his basketball IQ isn't all that high, when he often makes rushed, bad decisions that lead to forced and poor shot selection and reckless turnovers? Are all of these things untrue about him? I've never scouted any players personally or worked for the NBA, but maybe these things mean something different to people with credentials and qualifications. Is Dwight Howard not athletic? Is Damian Lillard not aggressive? Does Kawhi Leonard not have a very high basketball IQ?

And as for you and jbrick and making it personal, let's not pretend this is the first time something like this has happened.

Man the warriors are really feeling the pressure.

They have plenty of time to get things worked out but they of all teams don't wanna go into the playoffs without supreme confidence.

Right now they are 6th on offense and 19th on defense that's just inexplicable. Klay has been atrocious and Curry is nowhere near last year effectiveness. If the Spurs can pull off a trade for an expiring PG (Jeff teague?!) And have home court advantage they could realistically be favored vs GSW.

Kinda crazy to see how much better the Eastern Confiderence is overall this year than the Western. Wonder how long it will take people to notice that. They should dominate the regular season matchups overall records

The Cavs are in postseason form right now and Kevin Love is finally healthy and in shape. He was too skinny last year, he looks completely different and much more involved. Lebron is going to have a Magic Johnson type season. He'll average close to 20,10,10 and Kyrie will probably be their leading scorer.

I think GSW is legitimately vulnerable. They have zero rum protection and teams will exploit that. Klay is being horribly underutilized. They just haven't found the right balance or rotation yet. I think they will, but it's going to take 20 games or so, and that could cost them home court.

Spurs look like the best team in the West, I could see them being favored to go to the finals.

Very interested to see if Chicago can do what they're doing all year. I doubt it, but if they can they might actually be a threat.

Joel Embiid looks like a combination of Shaq and Hakeem. Dude is a legit monster. Philly needs to trade Okafor for a point guard, add a shooter and they'll be a playoff team next year. They could be scary good in 3 seasons and be in the finals once Lebron retires.

Klay is currently on pace to absolutely obliterate the record for most missed 3s in a season.. Underutilized is not the correct term. He is MURDERING the warriors right now. Abysmal ratings. Absolutely Abysmal on both ends.

Rim protection hasn't been an issue for them. Teams are shooting poorly around the rim which is to be expected since they have good rim protection from durant, green, and iggy. And they have a low percentage of dunks/fga and average layups/fga. The issue has been horrible defensive rebounding and not forcing many turnovers.

And the fact that their torrid shooting has come back to earth. Thanks to green and klay firing bricks and curry coming back to earth so far this year

No way they continue to shoot this bad, but they aren't good defensively so far this year and they were a top 5 defensive team last year

Maybe misutilized then. Yeah, he's started off really cold, but I think a lot of that is the fact that they've turned him into Kyle Korver. He's absolutely been removed from the flow of the offense.

I'm still much more concerned by the lack of rim protection.

The whole announcement thing certainly comes to mind. So does him throwing shade at Steph for winning the MVP last year unanimously.

If you don't like the guy, there's plenty of reasons why. I'm just not a fan of his, and I never really have been since the beginning. He's definitely shut me up a bit since last year, and I respect the fact that he's a 3 time NBA champion and 4 time MVP winner. But overall, I think either diva or prima donna are suitable adjectives to describe what kind of person he is. At least when it comes to his off the court persona. If you read the article, he's not even offended by Jackson's claim that he likes receiving special attention, but he's insinuating the word "posse" is being used in a racist way. If that's how he feels, that's fine. I just think it's pretty diva-like.

He's not a diva or a prima donna. If you're looking for something negative, I would say that he's a little too sensitive/self-conscious. He cares too much what people think about him. He's literally had the biggest spotlight in the history of sports (in the NBA at least), since he was a teenager. Can you imagine that pressure? He's handled it well 90% of the time...but 10% of the time he does stuff like "The Decision" and get butt-hurt over Steph winning the MVP (honestly, I think he was more upset of Kawhi finishing ahead of him).

To me...Steph is a bigger bitch than Lebron. But I'm probably biased because I think Steph gets away murder. Oh well...my two cents.

I think it's just the way he acts when the cameras are rolling. He seems like he's an actor on stage trying to sell how tough he is and how much he deserves respect, but like you said, it reeks of insecurity and comes off as arrogance. I'm sure in his private life he's a great dad, husband, and he cares about charity and helping his friends out too.
