It's really tough for me to believe that 20% of any group literally supports slavery.
2/25/2016 6:57:34 PM
Go to a Trump rally and get back to us.[Edited on February 25, 2016 at 7:01 PM. Reason : And I'm sure some of that 20% would argue States rights and not pro-slavery etc]
2/25/2016 7:00:33 PM
^^The question was regarding approval of the executive order issued during the civil war that only freed slaves in the south in rebellion against the federal government. The Emancipation Proclamation was a war strategy by Lincoln, and history teaches it as such. Asking about the approval of a Union war tactic in the state that got burned and pillaged harder than any other state in the South should be expected to cause some controversy.

This is where you all are going to screw up. You're gonna sit around and tell each other that there's no one out there but neo nazi's voting for Trump, that no educated person could possibly throw a vote his way.I know several college educated individuals who say they are voting for him, and it is all because they want an "outsider" and that Cruz is too conservative and Bernie is too liberal.
2/25/2016 10:24:25 PM
I'm certainly not going to vote for Trump but it is the most intriguing candidate. Hilary and Rubio wouldn't do shit, just more of the same. Sanders probably couldn't get anything done thanks to congress shutting him down, and Cruz is a fucking lunatic. Trump on the other hand, I could see either getting something actually accomplished due to his utter lack of caring about the usual political tactics and I think he is actually far more centrist than he talks about or he will burning it all to the ground. The probability of the later is what I expect. What I really want is super delegates to hose Sanders and a contested convention to hose Trump so they both run third party and cause total chaos.[Edited on February 25, 2016 at 10:32 PM. Reason : .]

2/26/2016 12:11:42 AM
2/26/2016 12:19:40 AM
Intelligent people are voting for trump for a simple reason... Every single one of us is disappointed at the politicians we elect in every election. They promise the works yet normally change nothing. Everyone is tired of career politicians to the point that some are willing to roll the dice on a blowhard billionaire. It's an emotional response. And there is not going to be much trump can say at this point that will change that. It is why he continues to say dumb things. It doesn't matter. I fucking hate Ted cruise. He is the most fake asshole on the entire stage, and I love it when trump poles at him. He is a fake Harvard elitist to the core.
2/26/2016 12:43:21 AM
Holy fuck. Never woulda picked ^ to be a Trump supporter And you're wrong about cruise[sic]. Dude is far as fuck from fake. He believes that shit.]
2/26/2016 1:01:01 AM
^^ that's pretty dumb reasoning, but I guess you acknowledge that since you cite it as being purely emotional.I guess we can't really do anything about people who act on emotion and can't/won't think rationally.
2/26/2016 3:03:14 AM
I am not a trump supporter. I was a big Christie supporter now support kasich, but I know he won't win. with that said, however, I will vote for trump. For the record, the last two elections I voted for Obama. I am in the middle of the road, and detest Clinton.
2/26/2016 8:05:45 AM
I can't get mad at the "fuck Trump but I hate everybody else more" because that's where I'm at with Clinton. The thing that's annoying to me is listening to people trying to tell me Trump will be a great president. And yes, it's coming from college educated professional people I know, not racist neo-Nazi morons.
2/26/2016 8:28:38 AM
I have a question about Trump's support. The most common answer on why is that he's the anti-establishment answer and that these people are sick and tired of the "politicians". So then, what is their biggest problem with what all of the current crop of republican politicians have been doing the past 8 years? They've done their best to railroad just about every policy Obama/democrats have attempted and ended up being fairly successful in their strategy of doing that. What more were the Trump supporters expecting them to be able to do with a democrat president?
2/26/2016 8:49:19 AM
Gimpy: Trump has been running on a platform that he is a deal maker. That indicates compromise. The reason I would nut punch Ted Cruise is that he came from the entire crop of Tea Baggers that take a 'my way or the highway' attitude on just about everything. That doesn't get jack shit accomplished, because nearly half of the country will never be on his side. I have a real problem with a politician that thinks because he holds a slim majority in the polls, that he/she should hold the country hostage over those beliefs.Kasich is a good example of someone who knows the realities, and what he can work with. He is just too seasoned in this political climate to do well. For me, Kasich is the most qualified republican candidate we've had in a very very long time.[Edited on February 26, 2016 at 9:55 AM. 2/26/2016 9:54:09 AM
^ I think that's somewhat sane reasoning I suppose if you also don't really believe the majority of his ridiculous rhetoric regarding Muslims, Mexicans, etc (which I can see as justified)I'm thinking though that your reasoning for supporting Trump is the minority, with the majority of people falling for all the ridiculous shit I mentioned above. My question is more for THOSE people. Maybe they're two mutually exclusive groups, which is possible, making my question invalid.
2/26/2016 10:04:06 AM
Well, I give big credit to trump to highlighting two very big areas of concern that would have been virtually untalked about without him. 1) Immigration control and border security and 2) trade deals that benefit virtually everyone except America. I don't agree with the ridiculous rhetoric that has been associated with those two issues, but I do believe there will be positive work done on those two very serious issues.
2/26/2016 10:20:03 AM
Do you feel that gaining the nomination while using that rhetoric is advantageous to getting deals done with people who oppose him?
2/26/2016 10:27:13 AM
I think election cycle rhetoric is quickly forgotten. And I think that politicians understand the difference in what is said during the election cycle and after you are elected. There are numerous examples of primary opponents which say pretty ridiculous things about one another, but end up in each others cabinet. It is a game. Trump has just learned to play it very very effectively to get votes.[Edited on February 26, 2016 at 10:49 AM. Reason : .]

What about with the Mexican government or say some few Middle Eastern countries that may happen to follow Islam?
2/26/2016 10:54:49 AM
W/r to Mexico... Exactly who do you think is in the driver's seat? Can Mexico afford not to deal with the U.S.? No. W/R to the Middle East... I'll answer your question with another question. What are your concerns about our relationship with the middle east? Are you concerned our terrific record on mitigating terrorist cells from attacking us in the U.S. or abroad? Did you see Egypt? We fucking supported the Arab Spring, and where did that get us? Obama was a fucking moron in how he handled the entire situation. And last night in the debate, Trump said that while he fully supports Israel, he cannot broker a peace deal without being open minded. You didn't hear the other folks saying that. [Edited on February 26, 2016 at 11:08 AM. Reason : .]
2/26/2016 11:05:21 AM
I would say we have somewhat positive relationships with some countries like Saudi Arabia and Turkey which would be better to remain that way and might not if they're all of a sudden dealing with someone who's basically decided that they're not allowed to come to the US anymore. Is this a likely probability? Maybe not, but what advantage does rhetoric like that give us if we want things from them? Not to mention he spent a good deal of time last night talking about brokering peace b/w Israel and Palestein. I don't see how any of he says regarding Muslims help him in that position[Edited on February 26, 2016 at 11:15 AM. Reason : asdf]
2/26/2016 11:10:34 AM
Ok... Let's talk about Saudi Arabia. Another situation where they simply cannot afford to severe their relationship with us, or even strain it. If the U.S. pulled out the military, the Saud family would fall.I'm not saying that I like some of his speech or word choice. I am just telling you that it just won't matter as much as you think. The U.S. holds most of the cards in just about every situation around the world. And we rarely play them.Hell, even when we help we are hated. Do you know how many South Koreans hate the American military? Even after they would be in famine without the aid of the U.S.? Yet we spend billions a year protecting their borders with North Korea. The U.S. is going to be hated and disliked no matter what we do.[Edited on February 26, 2016 at 11:19 AM. Reason : .]
2/26/2016 11:16:34 AM
If you're basically saying you don't care what Muslims think of us than yeah, I can understand why you wouldn't care about the shit that comes out of his mouth
2/26/2016 11:25:32 AM
I'm saying that their opinion of us doesn't pay dividends, and while it would be outstanding for him to tone down the anti-Muslim rhetoric, its not going to keep me up at night because it simple won't change anything.
2/26/2016 11:43:07 AM
the "it doesn't matter what he says during the primaries because they're just the primaries" line of thinking is absurdhe's saying them, they're being documented, and the slate doesn't get wiped clean before the general electionit's not like he's a 50 year old talking about the dumb shit he did when he was 19. this is all happening in the same calendar yearit's perfectly ok to say, "fuck this guy. he is dangerous regardless of party" as opposed to talking yourself into him because he's on your team
2/26/2016 11:51:27 AM
2/26/2016 12:03:58 PM
no, the difference is that Trump refuses to offer any specifics and relies heavily on spewing vile shityou can't equate failed campaign promises to the shit that comes out of his mouth on a daily basis
2/26/2016 12:09:59 PM
Hey, but he can make deals
2/26/2016 12:18:02 PM
Specifics... You mean the stuff that politicians say that they aren't able to implement?
2/26/2016 1:12:36 PM
what?now comes the point in your Trump evolution that you start to think about supporting him since your dude Christie just latched on
2/26/2016 1:18:26 PM
I'm having a really hard time understanding republicans who will hold their nose and vote for Trump. He's not even a republican! Unless you're a racist and like him because he's "speaking the truth", how can you vote for him in good conscience? Even my father who is one of the most staunchly conservative people I've ever met would rather abstain than vote for Trump. Is it that these people don't take Trump's hateful comments at face value? That he doesn't really mean them? That they're hoping/wishing he's not serious and that he's just saying whatever he can to drum up support? If that's the case, I really don't know what to say. Fuck you?
2/26/2016 1:21:57 PM
I equate Donald Trump to the Pirate Captain and yes, I'm nervous that he is going to win....
