I think we saw flashes from our WRs last year, think Canada didn't do enough to help them out though. Year before he tried to run a spread with quick screens and dink-and-dunk and that didn't work, then we seemed to want to run a lot of deep routes that left Brissett scrambling a lot. I'm not sure I saw us run a slant last year. Hines is the most likely star in our WR core and should benefit from the new offense. I do think Ramos, Cherry, and Trowell have shown they can make plays and have potential. There has been positive buzz from the scout team around Simmons and Sessoms. Then factor in the freshman like Harmon, Riley, and Stephens. I think we'll find 4-5 solid options at WR. Seems to be a lot of hype for CJ Riley to contribute right away for us.

the talk about Dayes has been HUGE here in Atlanta. Saying he isn't necessarily the best RB in the ACC, but he is the RB in the best position and offense to put up the biggest numbers by far.
2/17/2016 4:06:16 PM
in terms of WR, we need somebody like Ramos to step up as a possession WR. last year we didn't really have that go-to guy. as good as Hines can be, his style and size don't seem to fit that go-to WR role. but, yes, the WRs should be improved.^Dayes was on pace for some pretty crazy numbers last year till he was hurt. he had over 1000 yards of total offense (865 rushing, 172 receiving) and 12 TDs in just 7.5 games.
2/17/2016 5:20:57 PM
I was looking a film with a coach friend and he was pointing out how on a lot of Routes Ramos and Cherry were open, it may have been the timidness to throw deep of Brisket that did them an injustice.
2/17/2016 5:41:22 PM
Is our new OC the QB coach too? If so I hope that will help, because the BSU QB (in the two games I watched of him) looked seriously locked and comfortable with what he was going to do.
2/17/2016 10:06:20 PM
Prob bc he is mark rypien's son[Edited on February 17, 2016 at 10:20 PM. Reason : S]
2/17/2016 10:20:08 PM
^^yes, i believe he is both the OC and QB coach. that was Canada's role as well.
2/18/2016 7:36:19 AM
Yep and Bible had the same role under TOB.
2/18/2016 8:49:21 AM
Add in that the new OC also just had a rookie QB put up really good numbers, so he's suppose to be a really strong QB coach. But it is a little worrisome that we're trying to bring graduate players to immediately compete for PT, makes me wonder if our current QBs don't fit his system.I mean Dayes is great, but he's fighting for the #2 RB spot in the ACC. As long as Cook is healthy for FSU, he's #1 without question. That guy is insane.

I'm fine with adding QBs, especially someone like Grier who has to sit out anyway, but to add a post-grad means you're telling him he can have a chance at starting right away.Personally have a hunch that Meyers wins the job. Sounds like he's more of a vocal leader than McClendon.
2/18/2016 6:31:17 PM
Perhaps it will be a situational 2 qb system. a running qb and passing qb. I wish we still had sherriffs. Did he end up playing qb somewhere else?

Some rumors on PP that we've already reached out to some graduate transfers. Know we reached out to the Texas Tech transfer but think be picked Colorado. Think we're still looking at transfers outside of Grier.
2/18/2016 8:31:30 PM
Hope this staff can find a Russell Wilson in the rough kinda transfer
2/18/2016 9:29:54 PM
Lol fucking shirreffs ]
2/18/2016 10:28:54 PM
We are in deep shit if we are trying to bring in a transfer to start.
2/19/2016 10:10:55 AM
^i don't necessarily think that's the case. you always wanna go after the best players available, imo. myers and mclendon might be ok...but if the coaches think they can go out and get a guy that can win them more games, then that's not necessarily "deep shit" imo.edit to add: other than some early rumors about grier and a grad transfer that later picked colorado (i think) i don't know of us pursuing any other QBs. I'm fine with bringing Grier in, he was actually solid in the SEC before his suspension. Can't blame Doeren and Drink wanting as many bodies to compete for the starting QB job, both knowing this is a fairly important year for them.

LOLso bad, reinforced the UNC stereotype but then they realize they arent from Florida, South Carolina, or even central or east North Carolina, due to their being other things to do but drive to boring ass Raleigh for a game off campus lol. Chuckles is disappointed.

So because Grinnage and Brissett are slow, Raleigh sucks. Make sense. Jibbles is the last person who should be criticizing someone's 40 time.
2/28/2016 8:50:42 AM
Briskets 40 time is slow, and he's at least one rape behind Peyton Manning.

Decent Q&A with DD. Some interesting comments about McClendon and Myers. Excited to see Myers in live action if/when that happens.http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/91273/qa-nc-state-coach-dave-doeren-talks-quarterbacks[Edited on March 2, 2016 at 8:57 PM. Reason : Ff]

Drink said it's a "5 man race" to be starting QB...that was nice of him, but it's 100% down to those 2 guys. Still early, probably just go to the guy that picks up the offense faster. Feel like it's a 90% chance it's McClendon though.

lol, we made the play-in game
3/15/2016 3:05:03 PM
And even though we were projected to win the play-in game by FPI and Schlabach, they advanced Arizona State to the first round over us anyway. Epic NC State shit

Wonder if the bball team would've made the tourney this year if there were only 128 basketball teams in the country. Doubtful.

Bryce Dixon is apparently no longer on the team...he was one of our better recruits in this class. Not sure what happened.
3/30/2016 7:48:12 AM
Rumors it involved landing Moss, not sure if he was scared to compete for the position or if we promised Moss a starting spot or what.[Edited on March 30, 2016 at 8:29 AM. Reason : .]

^, ^^ I thought he was class of '16? Was he one of the early enrollees? If so, there could be any number of reasons a freshman would no longer be in school/on the team.
3/30/2016 9:01:50 AM
He enrolled early. He took part in our Spring practices, so that's why he's considered "no longer here."
3/30/2016 9:20:49 AM

Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but spring practice has been incredibly quiet this year. Has anybody heard, like, anything about the team?Haven't heard anything about the QBsHaven't heard anything about the new offenseHaven't heard anything about position changesHaven't heard a damn thing really, other than Dayes is healthy.
