So this episode...

The barber's shop was also in a kind of rough neighborhood too so he's prob used to having to be kind of tough. So last night the junky was hanging out in the pool and whatnot. I figured that would be the last of the old man's stolen clothes. NOPE! He put them back on. He's been out of the hospital for like 3 days now. He seriously has nothing else to wear?

"Zombies" don't have the same characteristics in all movies. In some movies, like the Return of the Living Dead, which was popular in the mid-80s and had multiple sequels, the living dead can still talk, and still posses the strength and intelligence as the person before they die. And a head-shot doesn't kill them, the only way to kill them is to cremate them (which produces a gas which infects people, so the method of transmission is different too).--also, kinda neat that they used Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" at the beginning and showed the junkie floating in the pool, high on morphine, since many people think that song is about his heroine addiction (and it's used in Trainspotting).[Edited on September 21, 2015 at 9:37 AM. return of the living dead is awful.ROMERO >>>> RUSSO
9/21/2015 9:46:55 AM
I like the first one, for what it is, but definitely agree that Romero's is far, far superior. But it's still much better than Leprechaun.
9/21/2015 10:01:47 AM
The leprechaun series is a classic and I will not have you badmouth it on the internet, sir.

Best episode so far. This is turning out to be pretty good - I like all of the extra antagonists in there: the army commander guy, the military itself, the doctor, the CDC or whatever comes from the doctor lady, etc. I think the marine that homegirl was making out with will end up getting rapey or something also. Looks like the next episode will have a lot more action.
9/21/2015 1:22:48 PM
Anyone else recognize the military guy that is into Olephilia? He was in Alpha Dog and The Faculty Now that heroin boy is in a military hospital maybe we've seen the last of his shitty stolen clothes.
9/22/2015 8:59:44 AM
This got renewed for a 2nd season right? I'm guessing for more than just 6 episodes?
9/22/2015 9:25:14 AM
I have a hard time understanding who is who and what's going on.Why did they take the druggie at the end? I couldn't figure out on what grounds they were detaining him.And why was his mother beating him up right before? Also, who is Olphelia? Is she the barber's daughter? What about the girl she was with before she was flirting with the soldier?
9/22/2015 9:17:43 PM
pay attention to the damn show
9/22/2015 9:47:08 PM
They're trying to maintain order inside the fence. They can't have head cases, or critically ill people, or drug addicts who could OD at any point. The military realizes that if one person dies and they aren't aware of it, then that little DMZ is done for. So they're removing all threats. His mom beat him because she's not an idiot and knows he's still using. My one quirk with this episode is how easy it is already to get out and back into the DMZ. Also, I'm currently having a hard time understanding how we go from the current situation to apocalypse. I mean, this is LA. What, the 3rd, 4th most populous city in the country? Outside the DMZ there appear to be no walkers. If LA looks like this 9 days after the quarantine, and you still have military patrolling around, I just don't see how it devolves from there.
9/22/2015 10:19:56 PM
Well the USA also has a very large and organized military which is able to mobilize quickly and deal with threats. South and Central America aren't nearly as stable or capable of taking care of zombies. Just take a look at somewhere like Brazil which has people living on top of each other in poverty-stricken favelas. Unless they are getting aid from outside countries, it would only be a matter of months until South America is completely overrun by zombies and they start flooding in. Even if some kind of zombie wall was put up, it would probably be a flimsy chain link fence like the one around LA, lol.Same could be said about Africa and Asia.[Edited on September 23, 2015 at 9:53 AM. Good point, but the desert and Rio Grande would make it difficult for walkers to make it into the US. Plus the hot weather would cause massive drying of the walkers making them brittle. Plus, don't they just wander aimlessly until their senses pick up something?
9/23/2015 10:47:02 AM
^I don't know much about the border but based on my limited knowledge from TVs and movies, the Rio Grande doesn't cover the entire border, and there are obviously bridges and stuff too. Plus, if it is relatively slow moving enough zombies could just walk through it on the bottom. Not like they need to breathe or anything. It would be interesting to see some zombie jerky and how that would play out though. I'd think it would just end up with their muscles tightening/shrinking to the point of not being able to move since their brains would still kinda be in tact (until it dries out).We thought they wandered aimlessly until the second season of TWD when that random horde of them walked through without actually chasing anything (that is what led to Sophia going missing)
9/23/2015 1:28:17 PM
Heh, I know the river doesn't run the entire length of the border However, I have no clue how deep it is, or how quickly the water flows. But I think it would be an impedance either way.

isn't the holding area (where the druggie son is) for sick or "at-risk" people? so i wonder why that black guy is in there. he clearly seems to be in good health and is doing just fine. i'm sure they'll get into his background next episode, but he just seemed so out of place there.
9/29/2015 11:29:38 AM
Is it really "at-risk" or people that could potentially cause issues in quarantine areas? I figured they took the druggie son because he was more likely to cause issues with stealing or overall just being a little bit of a loose-cannon. Perhaps the new guy has more of a shady background and didn't want him trying to con people. I mean he displayed an ability to basically wreck the guy that drove in the car by just the power of suggestion.[Edited on September 29, 2015 at 12:59 PM. Reason : .]
9/29/2015 12:58:52 PM
'at risk'They were taking the father there. He was 'at risk' for inciting people based on his conversation with the officer. That black guy was probably doing something irritating as wellThey used that area for punishment and not always medical risk[Edited on September 29, 2015 at 1:01 PM. 9/29/2015 1:00:46 PM
yeah that makes sense...y'all are right now that i think about it. it's definitely a way to control the folks that are in a quarantined area and remove potential threats as well as sicknesses. i imagine they'll get into his backstory next episode (which is the last episode) but we'll see
9/29/2015 8:56:42 PM
So why even try to keep order if cobalt is coming? Why even be there? Why were troops patrolling outside of the DMZ and getting themselves cornered in a library, when they know the place will soon be neutralized.[Edited on September 29, 2015 at 9:30 PM. Reason : if]
9/29/2015 9:30:01 PM
^"just carrying out orders" probably i dunno.

The high school BF was bit on his shoulder, and was left for dead per his request.

i just hope the girlfriend has to stick something through his skull when he shows back up as a zombie
9/30/2015 5:54:56 PM
Is or will also be the 4th Wire actor TWD has killed, so not like they were getting unknowns. Waste of Wagstaff if he is dead as we all assume.
9/30/2015 8:09:08 PM
No way in hell the con man gets killed. He was instantly the most interesting character. And also the most interesting. The voice, look, and how much he stands out.2nd most interesting is the old torturer dude. And of course he provides interesting paths forward in the story line. The regular series doesn't really have a con man. Good archetype to provide some noticeable differences.[Edited on October 1, 2015 at 9:13 AM. Reason : fsdf]

I bet being in that stadium was better than having been in the Superdome
10/2/2015 8:49:03 PM
So they let out 10k zombies to save 2 people (a nurse who was in no danger and a junkie)...yeah, I hope they all die now except for the con man.
10/4/2015 10:13:48 PM
What a fuckin asshole. I understand the US Army said 'fuck it' with protecting the safe zone neighborhoods, and they took Daniel's wife, Nick, and Liza, but damn... Setting 1000's of zombies on the medical safe zone just to save them was cold blooded. They didn't even have a real extraction plan, and ended up getting blind-luck with everyone conveniently running into the same hallway at the same time. Strand is the only character I am rooting for at this point, since he's the only one keeping it real.Season 2 prediction: the boat will sink, and Strand saves everyone by sacrificing himself, Alicia hooks up with Chris, and Daniel has to kill zombie Ofelia in order to save Travis after Travis tries reasoning with another zombie
10/5/2015 1:05:18 AM
Wait, so you're sympathetic for the military? The guys were treating people like shit, known to have killed people who weren't infected/dying, basically came in the night and kidnapped people without offering any explanation, and were literally arranging a plan that would have just left the entire community they were "protecting" defenseless and didn't even tell anyone. They got what they deserved, treating humans like cattle, get eaten by a herd.Good season finale.
10/5/2015 7:54:28 AM
At least the Army closed the fence behind them when they left unlike the group of assholes.
10/5/2015 8:25:33 AM
Good finale! Looks like Strand may actually not be a con man, perhaps just a high stakes gambler or something. And yeah, stupid move letting all those zombies out. That many zombies wandering around is just going to make things worse for them in the long run.
10/5/2015 8:57:19 AM
I would be really lame for Strand to have this elaborate setup that allows them to sail around for a long time. Moreso if he has more safe places or compounds. Its really a cop out if thats how they survive because this obnoxious character they happen to run into in suburbia.Oh I love the character. But his role, resources, and purpose for the resources is a bit weird. Unless he is so well to do that he knew this was coming for a while. Maybe he had contacts in the government/military.That's the only way I could fully accept his convenient plan. #TheOnlyWay#GodHelpYouIfItsAnyOtherWay
10/5/2015 9:22:22 AM
I think Strand told them that he had a ton of things stockpiled just to get them to go with him. That house was the exact OPPOSITE of a good defensible location for a zombie outbreak. Someone owning that house, with that view, logical that they could probably afford a yacht. My guess is he was conning the person who owned that house/boat, I mean if it was his house and he was planning on going for the boat, why would he care if anyone stayed in his house? Unless he thinks he needs their help to get to the boat?Just glad Travis finally had his Rick visceral moment and saw that being "nice" can screw you over. Also glad the ex-wife and all of the military guys were removed. Will be interesting to see how they pick it back up, immediately from where we left off with Chris more than likely grieving/pouting or if they'll already be on the boat, or what.
10/5/2015 11:01:17 AM
I'm gonna group myself in the party that now views all the main characters, except Strand, as a huge bunch of assholes. Releasing 10,000 zombies!? You fucking kidding me - they just doomed almost everyone living in that area of LA. Not just soldiers. That was completely fucked up.I also think it's a pretty weak plot turn for Andy the soldier to pop up near the end, to get revenge. The world's going to shit, Travis let him go...and instead of hightailing it the fuck out of there, he decides to sneak up on them to kill (at least) one of them? What kind of moronic thought process is that? And why did the soldiers steal their Durango? That parking lot was full of cars.SMH
10/5/2015 12:37:15 PM
Full of cars and no keys?Maybe the solider dude was pissed they let out 2000 zombies killing his comrades.
10/5/2015 12:57:37 PM
I caught on Talking Dead one of the creators explaining why the kid was still wearing the old man's chlothes. It was a pretty weak explanation. And yeah, not only did the doom all the soldiers, some of whom were undoubtedbly good people trying to protect citizens, but all the patients in the hospital. And countless other people around the city. That was just stupid.
10/5/2015 1:47:42 PM
I am wondering why Strand was detained to begin with. He wasn't showing any signs of any type of sickness or the type of guy that would cause trouble. Also, when that soldier showed up for revenge or whatever, wtf did he shoot his girlfriend and not the guy he was actually pissed at for cutting up his arm?
10/5/2015 1:47:47 PM
I've defended some of the plot holes in The Walking Dead, but this seems to have a lot more. But I'll still watch.
