David Mayo? Inside linebacker from Texas State? Then the SEC's leading rusher

If Shaq and Funchess are who we think they are, then the rest of this draft is honestly just icing on the cake. Artis-Payne has a better chance of sticking than either of our last RB draftee's and the other two will at least push the veterans ahead of them on the depth chart. This is what a draft by a team that already has a decent roster looks like.
5/2/2015 5:00:56 PM
Not a fan of this draft for the Panthers but we'll see how it turns out. Lots of boom or bust potential
5/2/2015 5:11:09 PM
I did not expect us to trade up, let alone twice. But those compensatory picks really allowed us to do that. Were those from letting Lafell, Ginn, Munnerlyn etc go? Or would that have been for 2014 Draft compensatory picks?
5/2/2015 5:18:50 PM
Yes, compensation picks in this draft were from free agents leaving last year.
5/3/2015 8:19:03 AM
Byrd from South Cack is a sneaky UDFA. Watched that kid make a ton of plays on SEC defenses the last few years.
5/3/2015 5:14:23 PM
Got a feeling we might get Collins from LSU if he's cleared. My source says its not a lock, but likes our chances.
5/3/2015 6:54:49 PM
I think we have a really good shot at Collins IF he gets cleared. Immediate PT, playoff team, and he is good friends with Trai Turner. But even if he is cleared, I'm not even sure our owner would let us pursue him. Would be a damn shame if we didn't.

Sounds like Funchess and Williams have been impressive at rookie mini-camp. I mean it's just rookie mini-camp but at least it's positive news.
5/11/2015 11:32:30 AM
yeah liking what I hear about Funchesshoping Shaq's hammy isn't serious
5/11/2015 11:35:18 AM
Neither will have as much of an immediate impact as KB did last year (or Star/KK the year before) but they should be good players. Shaq especially will put on the field as basically a designated playmaker, looking to create turnovers and make big tackles for loss. I don't think Cam will look to Funchess too often at the start of the season, especially if we plan on lining him up in the middle of the field. He'll have to prove he can dominate NFL linebackers or a team's 3rd/4th best coverage guy before he starts getting many touches.
5/11/2015 11:54:01 AM
Jesus christ I hope we didn't draft a linebacker in the FIRST ROUND who won't make an immediate impact. Fwiw I like both picks
5/11/2015 2:35:30 PM
I have the hardest time saying Funchess for some reason. Therefore, I am just going to call him Funyuns.
5/11/2015 3:07:20 PM
I just call him
5/11/2015 3:20:33 PM

I'll now refer to the redzone as the "Funch Box"
5/12/2015 11:15:35 AM
I'm sure Cam will come up with a nickname for him soon enough.
5/12/2015 11:22:02 AM
KB and the Funchine Band

This is a thing:http://sports.yahoo.com/video/radio-deangelo-williams-twitter-beef-123000513.htmlMaybe if he had put as much effort into his running as he did with social media, he'd still have a follow from the panthers.
5/20/2015 1:50:56 AM
^^^^ that's great
5/20/2015 3:09:02 PM
Kelvin Benjamin pulled hammy last week, might be outof OTAs next weeklooks like all of the offense will have to come from Funchess and Olsen

Can someone with insider post the "what to pay newton and wilson" article?
5/27/2015 10:47:27 AM
link it, I can't find the one you're talking about.
5/27/2015 11:26:12 AM
Halfway down http://www.espn.com
5/27/2015 11:58:29 AM
I have insider, but I hate ESPN's site now so I won't do it.
5/27/2015 12:32:43 PM
Huh
5/27/2015 12:52:30 PM
I, too, hate the ESPN redesign but I paid a good 5 dollars for that stupid ESPN magazine so I could get insider for 2 years, so here you go

Looking about like 40 million guaranteed according to reports. 5 yrs 100/40 is a fair deal for both sides. Hopefully this gets resolved quickly.
6/1/2015 11:40:15 AM
as Joe Ovies pointed out earlier, it's nice to have a QB who doesn't subtweet during contract negotiations <3 Cam
6/1/2015 11:42:47 AM
Ian Rappaport saying that it's a 5yr/100 million extension that is FULLY guaranteed. If that's true, then holy crap.
6/1/2015 12:33:13 PM
No way that's true
6/1/2015 12:50:29 PM
yeah, that sounds like some made up bullshit. maybe 50 guaranteed, no fucking way all of it is.
6/1/2015 12:54:53 PM
I'm calling BS on that; if Cam gets a 100% guaranteed contract, Big Cat needs to be put in an old folks home
6/1/2015 12:57:53 PM
I think Rappaport just failed at twitter, it'll be more like $40-50M guaranteed, with the full deal being worth 100-120M over 5/6 years. Definitely on the high end of the current QB market, but doing this before Wilson and Luck raise that number higher makes a lot of sense.
6/1/2015 3:38:27 PM
no way it's fully guaranteed. on the radio they (darrin gantt and adam gold) were speculating that maybe 40-50% is guaranteed. which seems reasonable. but all the details haven't been released, obviously. i'm glad he's locked up before the season gets going.
6/1/2015 4:15:58 PM
Hurney (on NFL Radio just now) expects a 5-year extension at just under $21M per year. Was up in the air about full and conditional guaranteed amounts.
6/1/2015 4:48:52 PM
6/2/2015 9:14:15 AM
5/104. 60M guaranteed
6/2/2015 5:01:11 PM
7-9 season guaranteed
6/2/2015 5:01:32 PM
I like this,
6/2/2015 5:31:05 PM
I'm relatively happy. I think we saved a good bit with his down season last year. It's not a bargain for us but it's not crippling. I like we can get out early if his injuries pile up. Hes unlikely to be effective in a few more years if he loses the ability to run. I'd really like to see him make some strides in reading the defense now that we have some receiver continuity.
