Got Uribe and Kelly Johnson for a couple a prospects I'd never heard of. They certainly aren't gonna save our season, but they do immediately become our best hitters. So I'm definitely cool with this trade.

The Tyler Clippard trade seems like a good trade. Still could use more offense, but Buster Olney did tweet that it seemed likely the Mets may not make any other big trades. But these have definitely improved the team - just not sure it's enough
7/28/2015 1:14:24 PM
Flores and Wheeler out, Carlos Gomez in. This series of trades has been intense. I was really looking forward to a rotation of Harvey, DeGrom, Wheeler, Syndergaard, and Matz...but I guess we were going to have to lose one of them and might as well be the one that isn't helping anyone until the middle of next season.C d'Arnaud (returning this weekend)1B Duda2b Murphy3B UribeSS TejadaLF K JohnsonCF GomezRF GrandersonThis team has gotten a hell of a lot better...a lineup like this all season could have won probably 10 more games at this point.David Wright scheduled to play in Minor League games next week.

Mets are apparently the team that backed out of the deal due to questions about Gomez's health...not the other way around.I was pretty much on board with this trade initially. While Wheeler definitely has great potential, we already have a stud staff without him this season. So we have the arms to trade for a bat without completely ruining our staff. But I'm not terribly upset the trade fell through either.
7/30/2015 7:00:19 AM
So glad to have d'Arnaud back. In the 19 games he's played this season, he batted .296 with four home runs and 17 RBIs. If he had played in just 70 of the 102 games played so far, and had kept those numbers on par, he'd have 15 homers and 62 RBIs. As a point of comparison, Duda is leading both categories at 18/45 with 98 games played.Coming off a long DL stint I'm not expecting him to produce like that again...but we really need him to.
7/30/2015 11:13:59 PM
definitely need TDA back. not sure if the mets are interested at all, but rumors are saying the reds want wheeler for jay bruce. really hope we don't do that. he's got power and everything, but that's all he brings to the table. wish we could get a more dynamic bat than bruce if we gotta give up wheeler. his numbers are somewhat similar to Duda's...and Duda is fine. but not worth giving up Wheeler for that, imo.
7/31/2015 6:38:47 AM
Cespedes!!!not sure who the two minor leaguers we sent to DET are, but Wheeler isn't involved in trade.the team is significantly better than it was a week or two ago. obvious downside to Cespedes is that he's just a rental and will be a FA after this season. but i'm pleased.[Edited on July 31, 2015 at 4:13 PM. The Tigers like farmer a lot. Scouted him earlier in the year
7/31/2015 4:17:44 PM
Fulmer? Just read that all week the Mets were not willing to deal him and finally relented today at the last minute apparently.
7/31/2015 5:00:45 PM
On my phone. Damn autocorrect
7/31/2015 5:02:06 PM
At least the ownership wants to win. A year ago it didn't feel that way.
7/31/2015 9:21:25 PM
flores with the walk of HR and the team's only 2 RBIs tonight. pretty awesome
7/31/2015 11:30:07 PM
Not even a Mets fan, but I got goosebumps watching that. Great moment.
7/31/2015 11:33:35 PM
definitely the coolest mets thing i can think of in recent memory.
7/31/2015 11:42:47 PM
Best Citi Field moment for sure.
8/1/2015 8:43:10 AM
Best Mets moment for me (that I'm old enough to have a vivid memory) was the Mike Piazza homer first game back after 9/11. This was pretty cool as well.
8/1/2015 11:12:47 AM
yeah Piazza post-9/11 is tough to top (at least in my lifetime/memory). but in terms of more recent history - last few seasons - Flores is definitely up there.
8/1/2015 1:21:35 PM
I forgot Johan's no-no... but it was in a shit season.
8/1/2015 3:12:17 PM
I want to point out that the only reason why this game even went as far as it did is because of bonehead managing decisions. Just because a pitcher is in a shutout or has a streak going or whatever is not a good enough reason to leave him in longer than he has to.2 outs in the seventh inning, and then Harvey hits the pinch hitter. After a review, he then gives up a single. You have a fresh Clippard ready to go, clearly Harvey's nerves are up, SO GO TO THE DAMN BULLPEN. Instead, they let Harvey pitch to just one more batter who of course ties up the game. And THEN Clippard came in.This should have been a 1-0 win in 9 innings. So not only did Flores get to be a hero in the 12th, but he covered Collins' ass. I don't get upset with managers that often because ultimately the players have to win the game, but that was a poor decision and could have messed up the game and put the Mets farther back int he standings.
8/1/2015 3:29:59 PM
Tonight's win is thanks in part to a bad managerial call by the Nats. Granderson on 2nd, only 1 out, they intnetionally walk Cespedes who hadn't done much all night to pitch to Duda who already had 2 homers. Duda hit a go-ahead double.Familia with a 1-2-3 9th. Glad to see they aren't backing away from him despite a rough week. deGrom was shaky in the first inning but was pretty lights out the following 5.1 game back in the standings but tied with Nats at 54 wins. Tomorrow is going to be a huge game.[Edited on August 1, 2015 at 10:08 PM. Reason : -]

yeah i thought it was strange to IBB somebody to get to the guy who has hit 2 HRs in the game.

8/2/2015 10:54:44 PM
Duda and Syndergaard named co-NL players of the week.Duda had 9 hits, 7 HR, 10 RBI, .474 average on the weekSyndergaard 2-0, 16 IP, 2 ER, 0 BBs, and 18 Ks.Not bad.
8/3/2015 3:23:36 PM
Today's lineup:Grandy, RFMurphy, 3BCespedes, CFDuda, 1BFlores, SSJohnson, 2Bd'Arnaud CConforto, LFFinally we have reliable hitters #2-5. But now I'm wondering, what happens when Wright and Cuddyer come back? Conforto goes back to the bench or Triple-A, but then what happens to Uribe and Johnson?
8/3/2015 5:35:30 PM
Games Remaining w/ Win %Marlins (x9), .410Rays (x3), .491Rockies (x7), .427Pirates (x3), .587Orioles (x2), .510Phillies (x10), .387Red Sox (x3), .443Nationals (x6), .524Braves (x7), .448Yankees (x3), .567Reds (x4), .456Only teams with significantly better records are Pirates and Yankees. Nationals and Orioles are close to even with us, and everyone else is either mediocre or just plain bad. Barring more injures, we're likely to win somewhere around 30 of the remaining 57 games. I'm not sure if it will be enough (Nationals would then have to lose at least 20 for us to finish #1) but it's going to be an entertaining run.[Edited on August 3, 2015 at 6:08 PM. Reason : -]

Calm the fuck down.
8/3/2015 6:13:22 PM
Uribe and Johnson are veteran professionals. They have come off the bench before and there is no guarantee DW and Cuddyer will even be able to play at all let alone every day...
8/3/2015 6:30:55 PM
^^The last time the Mets were in 1st place this late in the season was 7 years ago. I'm going to be excited as long as l can.
8/3/2015 6:34:11 PM
Shame there is such little chance of Cespedes staying..
8/5/2015 11:33:16 AM
He announced that he wants to, just up to the team to do something about it. I wonder if he can choose to waive the "must cut" clause if he wants to stay that badly? (Big if but who knows, he's enjoying himself)[Edited on August 5, 2015 at 12:42 PM. Reason : -]
8/5/2015 12:41:43 PM
maybe i'm just being a little cynical - but his comments about loving it in NY and wanting to stay...what else was he gonna say? i think he'd be kinda dumb not to test the market (in which case he'd almost definitely not come back). as a hitter of his caliber, he's gonna demand a lotta money.
8/5/2015 1:34:43 PM
True.Syndergaard is getting a lot of attention in ROY conversations. This is a cool stat:
8/5/2015 2:24:04 PM
He's filthy. Such a smooth repeatable delivery too. Has everything to become elite level..
8/5/2015 3:28:03 PM
rumors said that cespedes told Miguel Cabrera that he'd be back in the spring. miggy is one of his best friends, so we'll see what that's worth

8/13/2015 9:06:42 AM
Rockies start the game with two solo HRs in the 1st. Mets answer with 3 RBI doubles in the bottom half. This is suddenly a team that can come back from a deficit and put crooked numbers on the scoreboard. Weird.
8/13/2015 12:36:16 PM
Rockies tied it in thte top of the 3rd, then the Mets scored again in the bottom. Cespedes worked a 9-pitch at-bat into a double. I love it when a player can wear down a pitcher like that.

4 game sweep complete. 4 game lead in division. 11 games over .500
8/13/2015 3:29:54 PM
2 extra-inning losses in a row. Both of them with questionable choices in pitchers. Of course it's on the offense for not scoring, but I don't understand why, when the game is tied that late, the team is committed to keeping Clippard in for just the 8th and Familia for just the 9th. Why couldn't Clippard go for 2 innings in either game?
