any word on why turner didn't play after the second foul? Did he piss Gott off? Washington sat out for a while but Gott said in the post-game that he made a point to get Kyle back in the rhythm of the game instead of letting BeeJay get a triple double.[Edited on November 20, 2014 at 10:37 PM. Reason : nm - looking at the box score he played 14 minutes, I guess I just didn't notice him]

i was at the game, but watching that video has made me notice that he is letting the post player he is guarding get really good position and get right at the basket. hopefully he works on post defense before we get to conference play. i dont know if his freak body will help him then

^^^little of both. he feasted on their lack of size and they kept taking it at him. but he did play really well too.^Gott said in his postgame that Anya sometimes "baits" guys into taking a shot on him so that he can block it. Said something about how confident Anya was.

Thats what you are supposed to do with a shot blocker. If you stop taking it at him, you are giving him a bigger impact on the game than the blocks would have.

anya talking after the game about how much pride everyone on the team takes in their defense. good to hear, anya. good to hear.

^^I disagree. remember the NCAA tourney game a couple years ago when we were on the receiving end of that treatment from Kansas' huge fuckin center? I've rarely been more frustrated about a game than watching us get our shit blocked over and over again inside. you need to at least try the perimeter, see if you can't pull that big dude out from under the basket before you sneak it in around him.

hey, they gotta score against us too, pal

I have watched the block party highlight a few times now. What I find most remarkable is how many times Anya got caught in the air and was still able to get a solid block. Usually that spells death for shot blockers. On that note, he also got blown by on the dribble a couple times and still got the block. Amazing.[Edited on November 21, 2014 at 3:14 PM. Reason : sa]

Credit to the officials for not blowing the whistle as soon as they saw a big guy jump(or raise his arm). Seemed like they had a plan to maybe go at him to try and get him in foul trouble and it def didn't work.

i really love how much content the basketball team tries to push to youtube, even when it's only okay.
