Usually people who are "early to bed, early to rise" are boring old people who eat meat and potatoes every night at 5:00pm
10/27/2014 12:33:32 PM
if you're asleep at 10am get dat ass out of bed or sleep with a fan on to drown out the noise.
10/27/2014 12:52:29 PM
what's wrong with meat and potatoes?
10/27/2014 12:57:14 PM
Nothing, especially if they're from K&W
10/27/2014 12:58:32 PM
gotta get there in time for the early bird special
10/27/2014 1:17:54 PM
10/27/2014 2:11:23 PM
^^ haha
10/27/2014 2:21:39 PM
why the fuck did you buy a house in a neighborhood if you are going to get your panties in a bunch when a neighbor mows their yard at a reasonable hour?
10/27/2014 2:24:44 PM
10/27/2014 2:27:25 PM
your idea of a reasonable hour =/= my idea of a reasonable hour

10/27/2014 2:29:44 PM
10/27/2014 2:30:11 PM
Seems like it would make more since for Duke to fuck with the neighbor's mower than have a noise war. Neighbor can't mow the lawn if the mower isn't working
10/27/2014 2:32:30 PM
^^^ That's the problem. You're comparing someone mowing their lawn at 8 am to throwing a kegger at 2 am (or intentionally revving their motorcycle...or whatever dickhead action you can come up with). Other than the fact that both actions create noise that might annoy other people...that's where the comparisons end.[Edited on October 27, 2014 at 2:35 PM. Reason : .]
10/27/2014 2:33:04 PM
10/27/2014 2:33:28 PM
But that's the point -- why purposefully be a dick? And our neighborhood has rules about noise after 9pm, so it wouldn't work. Sorry.Do you really not understand the difference between playing music and mowing the yard? Do you think most people actually want to mow the yard or do it out of necessity?[Edited on October 27, 2014 at 2:38 PM. Reason : ]

Obnoxious noise is obnoxious noise. You can wait a couple more hours to mow your lawn just as easy as I could listen to my stories at a lower volume.I understand that you need to mow, so do I, but just because the law says you can be out behind your mower doesn't mean it's an appropriate time at 8am.
10/27/2014 2:42:26 PM
Exactly.[Edited on October 27, 2014 at 2:45 PM. Reason : I have a manual push reel that I can mow nearly silently with if need be, too.][Edited on October 27, 2014 at 2:45 PM. Reason : and a Honda walk-behind.]
10/27/2014 2:44:31 PM
Why is 8am unreasonable? If you're going by the law and your 10:59 pm standard, it says I can start at 6am. I don't see anyone advocating for that, but if you choose to move into a neighborhood with a bunch of young families, don't you expect yardwork at 8am on a Saturday? Why should someone else inconvenience their entire day and rework their schedule because you moved into the house next door and decided you wanted to sleep late on the weekend?[Edited on October 27, 2014 at 2:46 PM. Reason : ^ you're welcome to come mow my yard with a reel mower anytime you want.][Edited on October 27, 2014 at 2:46 PM. Reason : But only if you do it with your shirt off.]
10/27/2014 2:45:46 PM
Why should the rest of the neighborhood - who may be trying to relax and sleep in a bit on a weekend - have to listen to you mowing your lawn at 8am?I can work upwards of 13-14 hour days during the week, I use the weekends to catch up on my sleep (and I'm not the only one), but that's okay you had your Wheaties, and your kid is up anyway so it's clearly time to be out with the weedwhacker. On the rare occasions I can't sleep, or am out late with friends I try respectful in my comings/goings/late night habits...but you people can't do the same because the sun's out?
10/27/2014 2:49:58 PM
If you came to me and bitched at me for mowing my yard at 10am, i'm gonna throw up a finger and tell you where you can go.10am is completely reasonable. I agree 8am is a grey area, 9am is fine, and by 10am you're undeniably clear.
10/27/2014 2:53:57 PM
10/27/2014 2:55:27 PM
^But apparently re-working your entire schedule to benefit your neighbors is just as easy as turning the volume down on your music.
10/27/2014 2:57:53 PM
Oh Fuck. I didn't know you wanted to get a good parking space at the beach, or your favorite bar stool for that 12:00 kickoff. Next time come ring on my door so I can help you get that yardwork shit done even earlier...that way you could potentially schedule some Back 9 time.
10/27/2014 3:01:33 PM
Of course you can ignore health and discomfort reasons of doing yard work in direct sun and 90+ degree heat.Obviously that's worse than turning on your loud music just to be a dick....
10/27/2014 3:08:42 PM
10/27/2014 3:08:50 PM
You dumbasses aren't citing the main reason that I always mention FIRST.Its hot as motherfuckingshit from 10am-noon during the summer. It's still hot at 8am...but its considerably cooler. I should subject myself to physical discomfort of doing yard work in extreme heat so you can sleep for an extra hour?? How about I get my shit done early, and you can sleep that extra hour whenever you want to during the day...or just deal with it.Seriously...if it were 70 degrees at 8am and only 80 at 10 am and my neighbor respectfully asked that I mow the yard later so he could get some sleep, I would gladly oblige (unless it was a dickhead neighbor...of course). But we're talking about the difference between 85 degrees and 95-100. I'm not subjecting myself to labor and extreme heat so you can feel better rested.[Edited on October 27, 2014 at 3:14 PM. 10/27/2014 3:11:34 PM
Fuck you.
10/27/2014 3:12:44 PM
Dude, you're not running a marathon in 110 degree heat, you're (at the most) plodding behind a self-propelled piece of machinery when it's 80-90 degrees. I promise, it's survivable.[Edited on October 27, 2014 at 3:16 PM. Reason : ]

10/27/2014 3:17:21 PM
I think if you have a problem with your neighbor doing then you should say something. Unless told otherwise by neighbors, I would assume that 8-9 AM is fair game for me. If I was asked to stop or do it later, I'd try to be more courteous and respectful and push it back an hour.
10/27/2014 3:17:43 PM
And not only me, but likely more of your other neighbors as well. But the hell with me and them, you need that public access spot right by the boardwalk out to the beach.
10/27/2014 3:20:21 PM
Funny thing is that we're arguing about 8am....8am!! You would think it's about someone pulling out the chainsaw at 6am with the roosters! And not that it matters....but I only do yard work early on Saturdays. My neighbors can always sleep in on Sundays! And I'm such a good neighbor that if my neighbor could only sleep in on Saturday, then I would move my yardwork to Sunday (as long as he wasn't a dick, and it didn't fuck up my other neighbor's "sleeping in" habits).
10/27/2014 3:23:07 PM
10/27/2014 3:25:10 PM
Thank Christ, I can sleep on on Sundays...I appreciate you allowing that.^ Only when I need them to watch my dogs/check the mail/water the plants [Edited on October 27, 2014 at 3:26 PM. Reason : ]
10/27/2014 3:25:27 PM
^^^^^^ dude nobody gives a fuck how hot you are or when you do it. Pick a cooler day, do it in the evenings, hire someone else to do it when it's hot, use manual or electric tools, whatever. Don't be a fucking asshole, and definitely don't be a fucking asshole and pretend that somehow it's OK and everyone else is wrong.I live in Florida. It's hot as fuck. I have maintained a house and yard by myself, with a young child to tend to, and a full-time job. I've even done it with a manual mower. I spread several tons of rocks in one planted area last summer, too. I hit the beach and did all the recreational stuff I wanted to do, and got it all done, and never once did loud shit early in the morning.

10/27/2014 3:29:53 PM
If your entire day is ruined because you sweat a little more (it's hot), you had to walk a little further to beach access (I'm lazy), or because you missed kickoff (damn, they ended the game right after that too) then you need to re-evaluate your life in general.
10/27/2014 3:31:30 PM
Exactly. It's not the grass mowing that's the end of the world; it's the completely broken thought process and the social dysfunction necessary to do this shit and sincerely defend it.
10/27/2014 3:32:57 PM
10/27/2014 3:33:37 PM
i, for one, enjoy mowing on Sunday around 6:30pm. the sun isn't as hot, there's typically a little breeze, the first round of football games is over, and it's a perfect gap before dinnertime/primetime football kickoff
10/27/2014 3:35:56 PM
My grass is usually too wet to do anything before 9 or 10 AM anyway.
10/27/2014 3:42:21 PM

10/27/2014 3:43:04 PM
10/27/2014 3:45:42 PM
As an aside, we mow our yard at 7:30 pm on Tuesday evenings.
10/27/2014 3:48:22 PM
I mow mine on weekday evenings when I have Saturday plans and/or will be out of town.My grass is fickle though. It's pretty much set up on a week schedule and it definitely looks its best when that schedule is tightly kept.
