^I wonder if I dig through your post history whether I'll find a "Where were the other Avengers" comment on one of the solo movie threads But anyway, they didn't get the other avengers in order to get to the plane, they thought they would need them to take down the super soldiers. They did know that Stark might find them though so backup was helpful for that reason. I assume they went for the nearest adequete plane they could get to from where they were in Germany. Sure there are other planes in other places, but if they could just get to those planes they wouldn't need a plane at all.Stark found them easily because he knew they were in Germany anyway and probably had access to all the security cameras in the world.

^The point is the plot was written to get all of them involved as opposed to a fluid plot where other heroes were added for necessity. The heroes should reflect the story, and not the other way around. The movie was best when it was a Captain America story and not an Avengers story.

^i understand what you're saying, and slightly agree, that's why I rank this one behind Winter Solider and Avengers, those were so much tighter overall films, but even considering its weaker aspects I could never describe this movie as "meh," and I think things make more sense than you are giving it credit for. They are going to fight 4 super soldiers and know they'll have to potentially go through Iron Man and company too, so obviously they'll want all the help they can get. And on Iron Man's side, he wants to be able to stop them without straight up murdering them, and preferably without a fight at all, and that is a very tall order, so again will need all the help he can get. I agree it may have been done/explained kind of hastily, but in a 2.5 hour movie the way they did it worked for me.
5/7/2016 4:46:31 PM
It didn't have to be 2.5 hours. For example, Spider-Man could have shown up like he did in the trailer, as a complete surprise. Then Stark could say "just a friend I picked up on the way." Taking the time to go get him and convince him to join the team took away from the pacing and flow. (How did he know he was Spider-Man anyway? Was that explained?)Also, the scene toward the end where Panther is talking to the main villain. I liked the concept of it, but it felt out of place and took away from the intensity of the fight happening inside.
5/7/2016 5:12:01 PM
People would have ragged them so hard if Spider-Man had just showed up with no explaintion.
5/7/2016 5:31:22 PM
^Agreed. Just having Spider-man "show up" would've been incredibly lazy.My one criticism for the airport scene is that the timing was awfully convenient. Don't think it'd be easy to get Ant-Man, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch to where they were very quickly. The villain was possibly the lamest one yet, but it didn't really matter.Otherwise amazing movie. This one might top The Avengers for favorite MCU film.
5/7/2016 6:05:29 PM
i loved the movie, and i loved the spidey/tony scene, but bdmazur is right - it totally took the air out of the movie, pacing-wise.but again, that scene (and everything spider-man) was great.
5/7/2016 6:13:51 PM
And having Tony show up at Peter's home without saying how he figured it out wasn't lazy?Or saying how the villain knew to find the Russian to get the info he wanted?Or that the exact psychiatrist was going to be in a specific place?[Edited on May 7, 2016 at 6:15 PM. Reason : -]

^ this is the shit I'm talking about..... In he fucking water torture scene at the beginning of the movie he explains he has experience with Russian hydra Intel and when black widow released the files he sifted through them and translated what he needed. Cooberated by later in the movie showing that he was a special ops officer. It's not fucking rocket science. I said you didn't like the movie -BECAUSE- you're stupid. Not that you're stupid cause you didn't like the movie. Very distinct, albeit, rude (and for that I'm sorry) difference. You really find it difficult to believe KABILLIONAIRE tony stark doesn't have the resources to find out who spider man is?In a movie where space beings are made in a tube and use an infinity gem to have mind powers... I find a rich dudes ability to get information to be easily the easiest part of the movie to believe.Sorry for being a dick. That was mean ]

I liked the movie. It just isn't as solid of a story as CA2 and Avengers 1. That's all. I realize my comments seemed nitpicky but I was just trying to verbalize why I felt that way.

Really liked it. As far as Marvel goes I'd probably rank my top 5 as:1) Captain American 22) Guardians3) Avengers4) Captain America 35) Iron ManSpiderman was the best part of the film. And Aunt May is hot now. [Edited on May 8, 2016 at 11:17 AM. Reason : tbdv]

I did pay attention to those parts, but after 2.5 half hours I couldn't remember them.
5/9/2016 1:14:44 AM
Definitely had the weirdest boner with Aunt May being Marisa Tomei.All-in-all I loved the movie. Casting choice for Spider-man is great, hoping Sony doesn't fuck that up.Interested to see how this will play out by the time we get to Infinity Wars, and who will be an 'Avenger' and who won't.

Paul Rudd was more entertaining in this than he was in his own movie. It was sad when King Jaffe Joffer died.

Really entertaining, but...SpoilersSomeone needs to die already. It's ridiculous that they haven't killed off an Avenger yet. And the Scarlett Witch's brother doesn't count. We knew him for 20 minutes. I went into this fully expecting Rhodes or Bucky at least, to bite the bullet.[Edited on May 9, 2016 at 12:26 PM. Reason : dasd]

^i feel confident you will get what you want in Infinity War
5/9/2016 12:38:52 PM
Also, I'm thinking they have something larger planned for Martin Freeman's character. I was surprised to see him cast in what appears to be such an inconsequential role. Does anybody have any scoop on that?
5/9/2016 12:45:41 PM
There are enough characters now that we can kill someone off for real. Loved motiviations of each character. Though, spoilersI don't really understand whats going on with Vision and where his character is going. His character is one of the most interesting ones in the MCU.
5/9/2016 1:14:13 PM
Dude has an infinity stone in his head. How do you kill that?
5/9/2016 1:34:34 PM
Why is folks dying something we're excited about ?
5/9/2016 1:35:17 PM
^im not particularly excited about it, but I think it will happen in Infinity War.^^you probably start by having the Infinity Gauntlet with 4 stones already in it on your hand, then you grab the stone with that hand, and rip it out of his head.
5/9/2016 2:29:45 PM
5/9/2016 2:40:02 PM
I would wager Vision still will not die once the Infinity Stone is removed. He is a pseudo-organic machine based on Jarvis and Ultron so he should be able to function without the stone. Certainly not with the same level of ability, though.I fully expected Captain America to die at the end of Civil War. Everything seemed to point to this: the fallout in the comics, bringing back Bucky, the limited number of movies left on Chris Evans's contract, etc. Its not too surprising based on the final boss in this movie, though. Also, in many ways I am glad he didn't die. I am tired of the movie cliche where you kill off characters when you are done with them. From villains to actors with which you have contracts disputes, killing them off is just lazy writing. There should be a damn good reason to do so. Granted this would have been the case to do so with Captain America if they chose.
5/9/2016 3:28:04 PM
It isn't really a question of what to do with them, for me. It's more of a plausibility issue.Yes, I know, plausibility in a world that has a biologic robot with a magic diamond in his head.
5/9/2016 3:58:09 PM
Vision was making references to evolving past being a robot with a diamond in his head, so I definitely see it getting pulled out at the end of one movie and him coming back halfway through the next one.
5/10/2016 9:08:54 AM
5/10/2016 9:26:41 AM
So, comics in general always kill characters and bring them back.Should movies based on comics do the same thing? It obviously makes worse movies over time because nobody thinks anyone will die.Kevin Feige has stated that the infinity movies will fundamentally change the MCU. As in we might end up with almost an entirely different set of characters to follow. I would assume we lose 2-3 characters. We have Dr Strange, Black Panther, Ant Man, Vision, etc to replace. It could mean a lot of things not necessarily character deaths. Might alter reality a bit.#musings
5/10/2016 9:45:13 AM
Movie was really fun. I think it's 3rd on my list behind Avengers and Winter Soldier. Really liked the villain. Hope we see more of him. That being said, can someone please explain vision's powers to me? I watched Ultron on a bus ride on my phone so I probably missed the explanation but, outside of having an infinity stone in his head and being a robot, I'm a bit clueless.

5/10/2016 2:30:20 PM
I really hope they do that. Gives so many options without the trailing baggage. They might even find a way to do this and keep some of the characters as-is intact.<Thanos defeated><Adam Warlock resets universe><Cut to black><Resume with first person Spider-Man swinging through city><End with "My name is Miles Morales, and I am Spider-Man.">
5/11/2016 1:35:21 PM
"My name is Miles Morales, and I am Spider-Man."-Donald Glover
5/11/2016 3:53:15 PM
Donald Glover is like 50 years old, he can't be Spider Man
5/11/2016 7:04:35 PM
^Danny Glover
5/11/2016 8:08:59 PM
^^stop being a racist and thinking all Glovers are the same.
5/12/2016 8:05:15 AM
I'm talking about Donald Glover, although hyperbolically. Danny Glover is like 70, Donald Glover is 32 (will be 35 by the time this theoretical reboot happens). Which is too old to play teenage Miles Morales.[Edited on May 14, 2016 at 1:21 AM. Reason : ]
