they didnt remove her, she asked not to do it anymore to be featured in more sketches

I'd agree that it was spin if she hadn't already been in a large percentage of sketches this season.Last season she was second overall in screen time at 10.55%, but that includes Weekend Update. I'd wait until the stats come out halfway through the season to decide whether it's really spin or not.
10/15/2014 11:36:12 PM
Come on. You don't really think that she initiated the change do you? That she decided on her own to step down from Weekend Update to focus on sketch work?]
10/16/2014 12:08:19 AM
Leslie Jones posted on Twitter she's officially a cast member. Yes!
10/20/2014 9:13:40 PM
Rad. She was awesome last week.

That's very clearly one's writer's perception, not a fact.
10/21/2014 6:52:36 PM
That's the same "opinion" I've seen like a dozen other writers share.I have not seen an article that says she initiated the change...perhaps you can help with that.
10/21/2014 8:57:53 PM
I thought Jim Carrey was pretty good, except the opening monologue song was stupid (i'm thinking I missed the context?)
10/26/2014 10:23:40 AM
I love Drunk Uncle
10/26/2014 10:29:28 AM
^^ There was no context, he was just "HELVIS" and sang an unfunny song. I think it was an intended as an homage to Andy Kaufman doing his Elvis at home base so many years ago, which is admirable, but the song wasn't great, which killed it.I really didn't like anything on the first half of the show other than the Lincoln spots, so I was pretty sour on the back half last night. Watching it again today, there's a lot of solid lines in the second half of the show.I've been vocal about the lack of McKinnon this season, and at 12:40 I was ready to get really mad that she had only played a singing headstone for this entire episode. At that moment, Killam tweeted that she was about to steal the show, and she got a three minute solo piece with the host and musical guest. I love her so much.
10/26/2014 12:18:22 PM
I don't see how Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney are on the show. They should both stick to phone commercials. Bennett struggles to play any character and read lines and Mooney seems to make things a bit more awkward than he already is.
10/26/2014 2:23:04 PM
it's because they're co-founders of Good Neighborand people LOVE Good Neighbor sketches
10/26/2014 2:35:58 PM
Also, Beck Bennett is BABY BOSS. And BABY BOSS is wonderful.
10/26/2014 3:13:08 PM
Drunk Uncle is the fucking worst
10/26/2014 4:04:44 PM
I thought it was a below-average episode until that Sia sketch full disclosure: I fucking love that song, so of course I was gonna like it. McKinnon absolutely slaughtered it. Che is getting better each week. such a good delivery.
10/26/2014 8:28:04 PM
I like Mooney, especially his digital sketches. I thought the 420 was hilarious.I also like Bennett.Maybe it was the mood I was in, but I thought it was an above average episode. Except for the opening song, I thought Carrey was really good, and the the McConaughey Lincoln commercials were very amusing. And yeah, the McKinnon sketch at the end was great. I hadn't really listened to Iggy Azalea much, and this episode confirmed that I find her terrible.
10/27/2014 10:22:20 AM
Best episode I've seen in a while. The struggling sketches (Halloween graveyard), would have been above average on this season's previous episodes. Sucks that Carey didn't crush the opening monologue, because he was damn good on just about everything else.Baby Boss is funny...but it doesn't make up for all of the sketches he brings down. Him and Mooney were fucking abysmal in the Carrey family reunion...which is par for the course with both of them.I'm usually "meh" on Drunk Uncles...but sometimes Bobby nails it with some funny shit in there, like this time. This might have been his best Drunk Uncle yet.Strong ending with the Sia and Geoff's Halloween Party Store. Iggy was horrible. I've actually been impressed with some of her live performances in the past (only because I was surprised that she wasn't absolute garbage live)...but this was pretty bad. And the chick who sang the chorus in the second song looked mentally handicapped. She was off with the background singers and kept staring aimlessly at either Iggy or the crowd. It was really awkward.
10/27/2014 4:56:07 PM
hopefully that appearance will put the nail in the Iggy-Azelea-as-anything-other-than-a-novelty-act coffin. she was dreadful.I was probably too harsh with a below-average. I'm not the worlds biggest Jim Carrey fan, as I think he tends to dominate whatever scene/sketch he's in, but I did enjoy him in that Secret Billionaire sketch. [Edited on October 27, 2014 at 7:04 PM. Reason : .]
10/27/2014 6:55:46 PM
I thought Carrey Family Reunion was just terrible in general, except for Pete Davidson at the end.
10/27/2014 9:31:35 PM
What is the reason that all (most?) SNL musical acts lip sync? Is it so it will sound "better" like studio quality? Is it so certain artists can put all their energy into dancing around? Generally speaking, I always like live performances of good songs because they always add a different little twist or feel, which can be cool to youtube like 10 different versions of the same song from 10 different concerts or live performances.
10/27/2014 10:28:32 PM
Pete Davidson is hilarious.
10/27/2014 11:30:01 PM
Good episode
11/2/2014 1:07:59 AM
I miss the for the musical guest but what I saw was embarrassing especially the skit with Chris Rock and the new black lady. Taylor Swift skit was bad Isis was cringe worthy Helpful bank robbers OK but weakPete Davidson was bad too. is he just doing bits from his standup act or something every week?Katt and suge was probably best I saw and it wasn't good[Edited on November 2, 2014 at 1:40 AM. Taylor Swiftamine was great. I need some in my life.

Monologue was good. weekend update, meh. I thought Isis was pretty funny. Swiftamine was alright. Prince was good
11/2/2014 4:33:01 PM
I'm dying to get some more feedback on this episodeI don't know what to think
11/4/2014 1:59:52 PM
11/4/2014 2:18:40 PM
Pete Davidson is indeed just doing modified versions of his standup, and it's working, because he's so goddamn charming.Monologue was great, Prince was great, "Women in the Workplace" was extra great. I liked the ISIS bit and the bank robbers.Chris Rock completely obscured Jay Pharoah in the Janelle sketch by missing his mark. The Uber sketch was the worst thing on the show all year, and that's saying something after Carrey's zombie sketch.
11/4/2014 3:17:50 PM
so based on that review, you'd give this episode a solid B+
11/4/2014 3:29:02 PM
Eh, I'd say B-/C+. The bad stuff was really bad, and I'm more of a mark for McKinnon than most, so that's a bias.
11/4/2014 5:51:36 PM
I thought it was the best episode of the season, which isn't saying that much I guess. But it was the best host/musician combo and started off very strong. The "old couple" sketch was pretty terrible, no thanks to the actress forgetting her lines. But best episode of the season so far.I'm sure some of the internet reviews that some of you people treat as the gospel would disagree, but I prefer making up my own mind about things. #trollbait #truethough]
11/5/2014 12:55:51 AM
Everybody was blowing lines. Rock missed them in multiple sketches, Che blew an entire joke (but saved it well), and Bayer's flubs kinda worked in the '90s sketch. But holy fuck, that Uber thing was terrible. I love Leslie Jones, but she blew it, which came off even worse because the premise and the dialogue in that sketch was already awful.
11/5/2014 1:06:57 AM
I've seen plenty of people delay lines because they are laughing, which is often humorousI've seen people stumble, and have to noticeably stare at the teleprompter / cue cards to get their linesBut I have never seen someone literally walk out of the camera view after being silent for a solid 2 seconds, as bad as whats-her-name did in the "old couple" sketch--if you google "worst snl sketch of all time" a picture of that sketch is the first google result for god's sake[Edited on November 5, 2014 at 1:16 AM. continuing to pile on Leslie Joneshttp://www.salon.com/2014/11/04/leslie_joness_frustrating_performance_why_im_afraid_she_wasnt_the_right_choice_for_snl/
11/9/2014 3:26:17 PM
I thought the entire Chris Rock episode was dreadful.
11/9/2014 3:34:20 PM
There's a whole lot wrong with that critique. First, the sketch was going to horrible even without a bad performance; it's a bit for established characters, not thrown-together caricatures. Rock's writing team was responsible, not SNL's, and the misfire in tone was obvious. The weird exit was clearly a cue card mistake, and people (especially Rock) were dropping lines in every sketch. Was Jones ready to shoulder that kind of role? Clearly, she wasn't. Does that mean she's the wrong choice for the show on the whole? Of course not. That's a ridiculous conceit, especially considering how good she's been in everything else. This is like someone writing an article about Jenny Slate being the wrong choice after she said "fuck."
11/9/2014 5:36:45 PM
Jones is just so one-dimensional. I'm sure she'll have a some good sketches where her schtick is used properly, but overall she's probably a net-loss for the show. They'd probably be better off finding someone who had a little more diversity.
11/10/2014 10:35:28 AM
she's still brand newit takes a bunch of reps for any performer on the show to get the hang of it
11/10/2014 11:50:41 AM
hey guys, did you know that Woody Harrelson smokes weed?

His writers wrote all those jokes. The SNL writers are so much better than that.-vinylbandit
