^ indeed, pit bulls do kill people.
8/27/2014 11:45:46 AM
black labs are also large, strong powerful dogs
8/27/2014 11:48:51 AM
whats your point
8/27/2014 11:56:57 AM
that labs are large dangerous dogs, they have minds of their own

If you want a kid friendly dog, get a beagle. They aren't over large, they aren't high energy, and they are very docile. Most of them aren't obnoxious barkers as their stereotype would imply, and they are also pretty smart.

What causes a person to choose a pit bull as a pet? Knowing they can potentially be aggressive, what makes them worth the risk?
8/27/2014 12:12:21 PM
He loves me and will protect me forever and always. <3
8/27/2014 12:17:12 PM
^^because with proper care, attention and training they're no more aggressive than most other dogs?(and because in my experience, they're some of the coolest pets out there?)[Edited on August 27, 2014 at 12:18 PM. Reason : ]

my mom rescues pit bulls and works with them to rehabilitate. I have never met an aggressive pit bull that wasn't mistreated in the past.
8/27/2014 12:22:43 PM
What makes them so cool
8/27/2014 12:23:22 PM
We have two beagles. One never says a word, the other likes to talk a little bit, but he's quiet for the most part.
8/27/2014 12:27:55 PM
Pit Bulls are also very loving/affectionate dogs:And some people really like the "strong/masculine" look in dogs. I really like Boxers for this reason.
8/27/2014 12:30:47 PM
^^^very friendly, loving, loyal and playful? and a little goofy, but not totally stupid?[Edited on August 27, 2014 at 12:32 PM. Reason : and it's kinda cool that such a big, strong, scary looking dog can be so affectionate?]

My brother was bitten by a dalmatian. I was bitten by a silky terrier. My sister was bitten by a cocker spaniel. A weimeraner almost broke my arm. Ban all dogs. But for reals. My worst bite was from a cat.

cocker spaniels are dicks
8/27/2014 12:35:31 PM
Dogs should be a personal choice. If someone wants a pit, let them have one. But if they don't train it right, treat it right, and it does harm, then they bear the consequences.I'm not a fan of pit bulls, and I'm not a fan of rots, and I don't own any, but other people like them, so who cares if they have one?
8/27/2014 12:40:02 PM
^^^ ohh yeah i forgot about that. sad story all around [Edited on August 27, 2014 at 12:41 PM. Reason : ^ sounds reasonable.]

8/27/2014 12:49:10 PM
^^well, if a person gets a pit and doesn't properly treat or train it and let's it roam, it's likely to maul a small child, which is way worse than a 3 week old fetus.... just saying
8/27/2014 12:51:23 PM
You never met my sister as a fetus. She was a cunt x 2.
8/27/2014 12:53:17 PM
some fetuses absorb their siblings, that seems pretty violent to me
8/27/2014 12:54:38 PM
Bullet makes me think of a good question. Is there any precedence for owners being held criminally liable for the actions of their dogs? because there is no way a 90lb lab could accidentally scratch your arm while getting on the couchyou know, on account of they wear shoes and are polite enough to ask first
8/27/2014 1:10:38 PM
I think it's pretty irresponsible for the parents of an infant or toddler to get a pit bull.
8/27/2014 1:10:46 PM
^^^ Gotta clip your dogs' nails, yo. My dog has left a scratch or two on my face just fucking around. He also bit my finger when we were playing fetch. Or he was playing fetch and I thought we were done...unfortunately I was still holding the stick. Then we trained our dog not to grab things out of peoples' hands...and that was that.[Edited on August 27, 2014 at 1:11 PM. Reason : .]
I have said it a thousand times over the years, but the pit bull argument is exactly the same as the gun argument. In fact this thread has been done before to death. They are both very dangerous, both require a lot of extensive training and experience to properly use them, and both are severely regulated in most other parts of the world.I use to own a pit, and I use to meet up with other pit owners and I got involved in the hole community, and of that whole big "pits are awesome pets" crowd, there was literally only one couple that was responsible enough to have one. I will certainly never own one again, unless of course I am a desolate wanderer with nothing else to do with my time than to raise a companion from a pup, out there in the wilderness somewhere, then of course I would give it another try.
8/27/2014 1:11:15 PM
any dog is dangerous with an infant
8/27/2014 1:11:42 PM
true... unfortunately more affectionate bigger dogs could inadvertently be more dangerous than smaller affectionate dogs.
8/27/2014 1:14:33 PM
agree, we need breed specific bans to stop people from owning dangerous labs!
8/27/2014 1:15:13 PM
If pit bulls were universally banned, do you guys think shitty people would just stop getting dogs? No, they'd move on to a different breed, we'd ban that one, and eventually you get to pick from either pomeranians, shih tzus, or chihuahuas, all of which are assholes. Tiny assholes.[Edited on August 27, 2014 at 1:22 PM. Reason : .]
8/27/2014 1:22:01 PM
Is anyone here actually arguing to ban a specific breed?
8/27/2014 1:27:15 PM
got involved......in the hole community
8/27/2014 1:27:31 PM
^^not here, but plenty of people think pit bulls should be banned
8/27/2014 1:29:25 PM
And just to play devil's advocate to adultswim's comment. Sure, we ban pits, rots, etc, shitty owners end up with shitty little dogs. But it is much easier for a pit bull to bite off someone's face than it is for a chihuahua.
8/27/2014 1:31:58 PM
8/27/2014 1:32:56 PM
^^ also much easier for a poodle, golden retriever, dalmatian, labrador, etc.. than a "chiwawa"
