Best record in baseball over the past 3 seasons.
7/23/2014 5:28:19 PM
geez, did you see that game last night? We almost blew an 8run lead to the friggin astros in one inning Its past time to cut bait on Jim Johnson, despite the cap $$ involved...Luckily Cespy came out swinging
7/24/2014 10:10:35 AM
Listened to the last two innings on my way home from work and almost had a heart attack Houston isn't as terrible as people think. I'd say in 2-3 years they'll be a real problem to deal with. A win is a win, but the A's will need to play much better against them for the remainder of the season.
7/24/2014 11:38:08 AM
Houston had all 3 outfielders out of yesterday's game. Don't like to win by more than 8 runs because it usually means the next night out is a 3 hit shutout against. Nonetheless, the AAA tour lands in Arlington tonight while the Angels get to play Detroit and @ Bal the next 5 games. That graph showed it but Oak has a very light post ASG schedule while Anaheim is much tougher.

7/25/2014 6:46:53 PM
only one run vs. some weak TEX pitching last night LAA staying hot, everyday I monitor them as much as us!Hopefully the matchups today will provide an OAK win and LAA loss...
7/26/2014 1:03:06 PM
Hammel hasn't impressed. I was afraid sending Milone down was a mistake and it is starting to look like it was.
7/26/2014 4:20:54 PM
yikes , 6ER in 5 innings by Chavez today to the friggin Astros. Gotta think he's the top risk to burnout in his first season as a SP. Really nice to have Milone waiting in the wings...But srsly, if LAA is going to be winnin 3 of 4 vs. DET - we need to be taking all the games we can vs. the weakest teams like the Astros. Gotta extend that lead so we have cushion with 10 head-to-head matchups left...[Edited on July 28, 2014 at 10:10 PM. Reason : img]

Was at the bar and left after the second out at the top of the ninth, not wanting to witness another infuriating loss to the Astros. Checked my phone a few hours later and nearly shat a brick
7/30/2014 3:26:16 AM
yeah I know we shouldnt be losing to the Astors or needing a 9th inning miracle to win.JHammel with 8ER in 4.1IP... theres no way they leave Milone in AAA after this fiasco...
7/30/2014 3:40:50 PM
Hammel better be gone. 0-4 during his time at Oakland. GTFO!

Do NOT want Lester plz thanks. And I hope for the best for Addison Russell, the cubs could really use a winning year. But he seems to have a huge game here or there, and so-so overall numbers...
7/30/2014 10:00:07 PM
It's not happening, but I don't want it to either.
7/30/2014 10:26:38 PM
Probably need to have a players only meeting after the Houston debacle the last three games. Altuve is the only everyday major league player on that team. Hammel is an absolute joke. Is Pomeranz not healthy yet? Is Hammel not on the block?
7/31/2014 8:28:59 AM
Will be interesting to see which prospects Beane had to give up in addition to Cespedes for Lester.
7/31/2014 10:07:51 AM
Mixed feelings about this one. Hope this pans out, but it's a huge gamble.

Billy is really testing our faith. He obviously is going all in for a WS this year and phucking us in future years by his last 3 moves....
7/31/2014 2:37:49 PM
The more I think about it, the more I'm OK with it. Cespy was gone after next year anyway and Lester already has two rings and can beat DET. Gomes was the heart of our team in 2012's 'magic' and Milone wanted out anyway. Yeah it's crazy, but it might just be crazy enough to work. We'll just have to wait and see.[Edited on July 31, 2014 at 2:55 PM. Reason : Saturday is going to be awkward with all those La Potencia t shirts ]
7/31/2014 2:54:27 PM
Sorry to hear about Yo. No one outside of the Bay would know who this guy is if it weren't for the Derbys. No way he was resigning after 2015 anyway as mentioned. He's already getting 9m and playing like 5m. He will want 12-15 after 2015 anyhow. Milone is still out of luck anyway come March when Griffin and Parker come back. Beane likes every starter more than Milone (Pomeranz, Chavez, Parker, Griffin, and the disaster that is Hammel). Musical chairs and there's going to be another missing chair shortly between Hammel/Pomeranz/Chavez as far as the starting rotation goes.As mentioned Lester isn't scared of Detroit so that's huge for anyone in an Oakland uniform. Beane is "getting flooded" with calls about Hammel. Some dumpster diving going on, doubt Beane sells for less than he thinks Hammel's worth. Kaz/Gray/Shark/Lester/? (3 choices)Price to DET. wow.[Edited on July 31, 2014 at 4:08 PM. Reason : .]
7/31/2014 4:06:38 PM
dombrowski at least let the A's think they one upped the tigers for about 2 hours...both teams will miss the OF defense of the players traded away
7/31/2014 7:59:50 PM
A's had the better trade, no question. Price is a great player, but he's no Lester.
7/31/2014 8:11:06 PM
No question? Okay...
7/31/2014 8:11:39 PM
Overall? Yeah, I'm happier with Lester, Gomes, and Fuld.
7/31/2014 8:16:59 PM
Fuld wasn't in that deal was he?I think you gave up more for Lester than Detroit did for Price. But agree, that Lester is slightly better than Price. Certainly not a slam dunk that Oakland's trade was better. Not of this shit matters though. Happy times to be an A's fan.]
7/31/2014 8:19:43 PM
fphuck the tigers, we will surely see them in the playoffs eventually. im worried abouthaving enough offense to win the division still. lets hope miguel cabrera and mike trout get injured for the playoffs
7/31/2014 8:42:08 PM
I am skeptical of the deal. Our offense seems to be struggling lately and even though cespedes didn't have a great average he had some power and was pretty good at getting rbi's.
7/31/2014 10:21:18 PM
Lol lester is better than price? What baseball world do you live in
8/1/2014 12:41:48 AM
One rooted in the reality where he's got two WS rings? Oh and take a look at Price's record in the playoffs: 0-4, 6.02 ERA. Lester: 6-4, 1.97 ERA (11 starts). Price is having a great season this year, but Lester is the better player.
8/1/2014 1:30:19 AM
Can Jaybee come in cause we need some objectivity. Price is better than Lester. Can't believe you gave up the 2nd best Cuban to get him though. Puig is our course the best, not that shitsox abreu.[Edited on August 1, 2014 at 1:36 AM. Reason : David price = Dan Marino, Jon molester = Trent dilfer]
8/1/2014 1:35:30 AM
Hideki irabu has 3 WS rings, he must be better than both!!!
8/1/2014 9:11:25 AM
Sure, Price throws lots of Ks, but he also gives up a lot of HRs. He's done jack shit in the post-season. I'm about as afraid of Price as I am of Yu Darvish. DET is lucky they got Price for so little, but I'm glad the A's got a pitcher who has already shut down Detroit in the playoffs. Who should they have gotten instead?
8/1/2014 12:27:45 PM
^ you're drawing conclusions based on some pretty small sample sizes. price's past performance in the postseason with TB has no bearing on how he will perform this year, with the current tigers team, against current competition. same goes for lester.
8/1/2014 1:05:08 PM
You caught me: I don't have a crystal ball and I certainly can't predict the future. I just want to hear a reason why Price is the better player than Lester. Strikeouts? I never said Price was a bad player, and tbh I'd rather have traded Addison Russell for Price. All I said was that I'm happier with what the A's got, mainly because Lester is a proven winner, and a recent one at that. DET still needs a bullpen and now they have some glaring problems in OF. People seem to have forgotten that the A's still have the best record in baseball and more depth than most teams. DET has had the 'best team on paper' and been WS favorites for the last three years, while Oakland has slowly assembled it's best team in 25 years by making some risky and calculated moves. Forgive me for being hopeful and excited.
8/1/2014 1:21:53 PM
(rabble rabble rabble)one question perhaps to ponder: Why do you think Beane went for Lester instead of Price? Obviously there are varying opinions out there... but he made the first move, DET just reacted to what was left. What do you think Beane sees that perhaps you Price lovers dont? I certainly don't know, I can't begin to pretend that I see things so clearly...Anyways, lets let the guys settle the speculation as to whos better on the field... in the playoffs. Who do we think will make it and what will be matchups be based on regular season records?this is a nifty graphic I wish was an image:http://www.mlbplayoffsbracket.com/2014/index.phpLooking at this, the A's as #1 will have to go through LAA and then probably DET. Holy shit better load up with the best arms you can. For whatever reason, Beane saw Lester as the best arm out there over Price...
8/1/2014 6:01:02 PM
the guys who run the TB front office are pretty shrewd. they could've wanted more in return than boston. and if oakland offers lester a contract this offseason and lester doesn't accept, oakland gets another pick in the sandwich round. those could be other things that were considered rather than who is the more "proven winner."
8/1/2014 8:45:49 PM
^ interesting take... youre probably onto something therealso just look at the immediate impact both Gomes and now Fuld are having:http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=11301031
8/3/2014 2:01:37 PM
Good to get Coco back. Over a 20 game stretch, I'd say he's worth an extra 12-16 runs to this ball club. It is incredible to think about his contributions at the plate leading off vs. what Oakland has to put out there when he's on the shelf. The lineup last night with Sogard and Frieman had me worried. Hammel got some TIMELY double plays last night.Trout continues to dominate.....against Kershaw.
8/6/2014 9:27:52 AM
Kinda crazy to think we haven't faced LAA since mid June. I'm glad we only have to play them 4/10 on the road and that our final series is at home, but they are pretty nasty right now.
8/6/2014 3:53:15 PM
re: why did beane want lester over price, I read that beane was quoted somewhere saying he didn't think he could move price easily this offseason. I don't have the source of the quote though.
8/7/2014 12:27:57 PM
LAA dropping 3/4 to the Dodgers bodes well for the A's. Their upcoming schedule is rough and unraveling against decent teams is a great sign. If the A's can hang tough on great pitching for a bit and have the bats wake up, things might turn out quite nicely.
8/8/2014 2:23:37 AM
yeah Lester is actually pitching better than just about anyone in baseball right now. Cespy helped the BoSox down the LAAngels 4 games up all of a sudden! and BAL (my 2nd fav team is dominating the ALeasat)! Looks like DET has the closest race now in the Central with KC nipping at their heels (and srsly contending for a wildcard spot)bullpen just set an A's record for most innings pitched without allowing a run
8/9/2014 11:02:06 AM
Glad to see us finally score some runs again. I know we are the top scoring team in MLB but it sure doesn't seem like it lately. I am having flashbacks to our usual model of great pitching and no hitting and losing 1-0 and 2-1 in the playoffs.
8/9/2014 11:30:20 AM
rally possum strikes again
8/10/2014 11:37:08 AM
20 hits. Lol
8/12/2014 10:58:17 PM
20 hits usually spells disaster for the next game. While the offense did well last night, Moss's production is of great concern post ASG. This team cannot win with Moss batting 200 once the playoffs start, and Anaheim will be a more serious threat than they already are. He and Donaldson will be relied upon heavily come October, which I hope will be a division winner playing at home.Oakland has two days off next week before taking on Anaheim while Anaheim has two days off this week. That series next weekend is huge. Really hope we can schedule Kaz-Shark-Lester next weekend in some order.
8/13/2014 9:56:33 AM
Most surprising to me is Sam Fuld - the dude is srsly having an impact already; waaay more than most would have predicted. Really nice having him in there, producing solidly while CoCo and Gentry are on the mend. This dude can get on base and score runs
8/13/2014 6:29:49 PM
I hope Crisp comes back soon, but I am starting to wonder if he will ever be back full time.
