Are you kidding? Much of the buying power of the world makes $2-200/month. Think South Asia, China, Brazil, Mexico, etc. They can't afford the current Sentra which costs $17K, but they can definitely afford a freshly-made 90's Nissan/Suzuki/Isuzu/Daihatsu/VW/Toyota which would cost $5-10K, and dirt cheap used.

The old/original Beetle continued to be made in Mexico until a couple/few years ago, for the exact same reason that this Sentra/Sunny/Tsuru continued to be made.

^ that's not much of the world's buying power. it might be much of the world's PEOPLE, but the state of california alone dwarfs the aggregate buying power of those folks making 1-200/month
