i mean, i didn't say album of the year or anything. it's just one of those "this is great for what it is" kinds of albums

Of course you were, since Pitchfork/AVClub/etc dictates your opinions on music and film. It's nice to see you finally admit to it!

so first you share your personal opinion

Quote :
"I was referring to the critical reception of it"

then say you were citing critical reception

[Edited on April 9, 2014 at 11:44 PM. Reason : i assume this is where you say you meant "wasn't" when you said "was"]

I didn't mention critical reception in my first post about it, so I'm not sure how you were referring to that exactly

the only thing about the Todd Terje album to me is that the best songs on it have all been out for over a year. so it's basically just filler and then the really good, previously released tracks. Inspector Norse ftw.

I have recently stumbled on some good shit on soundcloud.

Like Pauline Andrès, can't stop listening to this track

https://soundcloud.com/paulineandres/goin-crazy-demo-street-version

Or this guy, I think that bold lion is a good track.

https://soundcloud.com/traverdan/the-bold-lion

These are some really high quality recordings for relative unknowns. I wonder what is going on with it, like if it is some pre album deal teaser.

I've really been digging the tracks that newly-dubbed Antemasque has been releasing this past week:

http://antemasque.bandcamp.com/

Cedric + Omar (The Mars Volta, At the Drive-In, De Facto, etc.) + Flea

Finally got to see Beat Antique at the cradle last night. They put on an absolutely insane show, and their new stuff is a lot of fun.

not 2014 at all but I just started listening to Idaho's catalog (especially some of the older stuff) and it is right up my alley. Not sure how I never listened before.

1) Tuneyards are, in fact, the worst
2) Idaho is awesome - enjoy

I definitely am. So far I think I might dig Hearts of Palm the best but I'm enjoying what I've heard overall.

I'm a big Black Keys fan but I'm not totally digging the new album. A couple of the songs are growing on me a bit, but in general I think it may just not be my style

different reviewers, and typically i don't even care about reviews, but swans' to be kind just got a higher rating than the seer from pitchfork. not gonna start a conversation as to which is better because it'd be pointless, but i do want to talk about how ridiculous it is that michael gira has managed to put out 2 magnificent albums consecutively in his late 50s/early 60s. dude rules so hard.

Glad to see Pitchfork give the new The Pains of Being Pure at Heart a decent review. It's getting pretty poorly received otherwise. I'm really enjoying it. Love this band's albums but they kinda sucked live.

Dave Lamb from Brown Bird passed away at 35. Another highly underrated acoustic band.

i like a lot of what tune yards does. it's the "quirky" bullshit that bugs me. esp. the intro to water fountain
