Mostly a bust for me, though I've always gotten better deals the day after Christmas anyway.

We need a new dishwasher...I assume I should just monitor Lowes and hhgregg's websites?

or, you know, go do some research and figure out the model you actually want and then buy it rather than save a couple hundred bucks on a major appliance that you might end up being really annoyed by in 3 months.

I've already seen a Whirlpool model with over 200+ reviews averaging in the high 4-stars that's at a good price.

It's a fucking dishwasher...as long as it doesn't break and matches the rest of my appliances, then I can't imagine how I would get annoyed with it. Bonus points if I could save a couple hundred bucks with it.

I've never had a dishwasher that doesn't clean things well...and I've had some cheap dishwashers. I'm not one of those idiots that throws stuff in there w/o rinsing it.

I've had a dishwasher before that was ungodly loud, and one that was so quiet that I had to check to see if it was running. Both of them cleaned well, but I despised the loud one.

We normally run the dishwasher before we go to bed...which is one story away so we can't hear anything.

that's good; low dB dishwashers tend to be much more expensive.

Got a solid Olympic barbell that can handle 1000 lbs for $100 on Amazon to go along with the sweet power rack I got for a discount on Fitness Factory. Home gym is slowly coming along piece by piece!

TVs big ticket items this year apparently.

Lots of the big names are available online as well now, so no need to even go stand in line.

^^^You can get a decent 4k tv now for 500 bucks. Standing in line to get a cheap one for 200 just isn't worth it.

See anything on wireless security cameras? Trying to decide between Arlo & Blink, leaning Blink since they're cheaper and are 1080p.

buying a shitload of Shell gas cards from Winn-Dixie. Already bought $400 worth...gonna pick up some more tomorrow (30x rewards points = 15% credit). If I can confirm that I also get the 6% grocery cash rewards on my AmEx for them, I'll really buy a ton.

I may buy a MacBook Pro and/or an iPhone XS, then a few odds and ends like spare pistol magazines, new pillows for my bed, and a new carry-on suitcase.

Also, if I can find any deals, an amplifier and speakers for the truck I'm restoring, and some "driving experience" things like the Rusty Wallace Experience at the local 1/2 mile circle track, or the "XTreme Xperience", driving a GT3, F458, or Huracan LP610-4 at NOLA Motorsports Park, and/or their arrive & drive karts. I don't know if they'll offer any deals, though, or if Groupon or whatever will have any Black Friday deals for them.

A set of big-ish (like up to 75-100 lb or so) adjustable dumbbells would be nice, too.

I just came from Walmart in Charlotte where they had like 15 of those 65” TcLs available...doesn’t seem like people are really fighting for them

I went to Walmart in morrisville to buy two iPhone XS Maxs for my wife and her friend but they were sold out at the sunset. Now try Target again.
The google home smart speaker and amazon echo dot are all half price on sale.

^^^^

Yeah, but we don’t have Costco here. There’s a Sam’s Club, but their gas is only a few cents cheaper...plus I don’t usually need giant quantities of things, and the commissary on the Navy base is cheeeeeap for groceries.

I thought about avgas too, and the local airport does sell Shell, but I don’t know if they’ll take the gift cards.

The deal was on Tuesday and Wednesday, a Dell XPS 15, i7-8750h 16gb ram, 512gb pci-e ssd, 1050ti video chip for $1250. Dell was listing it at Newegg, but it's sold out. That was a few hundred less than the outlet price.

Life hack:

AmEx does not award bonus reward points (at the grocery store rate, 6% for the Blue Cash Preferred) on gift cards, even if you buy them at a grocery store, IF you buy them on their own.

...but if you buy them with a grocery item in a single transaction, you get rewards points for the whole thing.

That's what appeared to me to be happening, and I just got off the phone with AmEx who, with a little investigation on her end, confirmed it.

My wife has always had second rate, shitty laptops, which is her primary computing device. I try to find good deals and get her something that is not absolute bottom of the barrel but her primary use case was doing school assignments and watching Youtube. But she would like to do some 3D/modelling work and maybe play some games on it as well. I wasn't ready to drop a grand or more, but wanted to find something that had a discrete video card.

I ended up getting her the HP Gaming Laptop 15.6" with a GTX 1050 Ti video card. Nothing amazing, but price was good at $599 from Wal-Mart. Definitely not a powerhouse but a big improvement.
