The black people I talk to point to the racist hillbillies as reason for not joining. Use of "You people" and rampant use of "NIGGER" in the garage. Racism > trolling. All so homophobic users, tww caters to the bottom 10% of moo u students.
9/15/2013 10:12:28 PM
tdub is dated.no app for easy phone use.see successful social media sites.new users turned off by old trolls.new users can't make a thread without being told the info should go in another thread.ut porn happened a very long time ago.

In this day in age they need to get over it. No matter what you do or what you are you're going to et ame called. It's easy to move on from.
9/15/2013 10:43:22 PM
Yes, but if there are more people that are getting run off than are sticking around then something needs to change if the website is going to stick around much longer. We are almost all old. Things change. If we don't let these young whippersnappers run on our lawn our village is going to become a ghost town.
9/15/2013 10:51:03 PM
maybe we should
9/15/2013 10:52:03 PM
I think that is a good idea but we have to make the site appealing to college students first. No use attracting them to the site just to scare/bore them away.
9/15/2013 10:53:35 PM
Full page ad with a pic of EMCE, solid plan to draw in the ladies

Can someone explain euphalo? I always thought that was just bubblebobble's alias on campus blender
9/16/2013 12:13:53 AM
its a scapegoat used to mask the real reasons why the userbase sucks
9/16/2013 12:29:00 AM
I still don't get it. What is it
9/16/2013 1:55:39 AM

For myself, I know this has developed over the few years I've posted, but I've come to the realization that I hate the vast, VAST majority of the users on TWW. Between those I hate and the sad, lonely, attention whores, well lets just say I actively model my life to be the exact opposite of the average composite tdubber. The only reason I come back to post/lurk is so I can take a quick TWW pulse and then do the exact opposite of whatever the Consensus du jour happens to be on that day

9/16/2013 4:56:36 PM
itll all be okim back
9/16/2013 5:29:23 PM
I think people ITT are giving Bubblebobble and Krallum way too much credit. They arent really that annoying, and occasionally (rarely) say something mildly funny.TWWs problems go deeper than these two.Im telling you the real problem is too many aliases... Morons like "shoot" etc.Parody threads.

we need esgargs back we need snewf posting pics of his dickwe need illegal drug references in every threadwe need more .

This place just doesn't really offer anything that I can't get on any other forums across the inter-webs. It used to offer the locality of everyone and what not, but not so much now.Really, the main reason I still come here is for the immature stuff that is posted in chit-chat. It was a little escape from the other sections or forums where there are a lot of rules. And since I was already here to look at chit-chat, then I would go ahead and take a glance at the other sections. We're all grown up and people aren't posting about crazy stuff they did because they don't do it anymore. Maybe in a couple of years when most everyone is in their 30s, people will start divorcing and the ladies will start posting titties again to get the attention they once had
9/16/2013 6:50:42 PM
trying to find a picture of quietly's titties with my name on them....good times

I don't think it can be fixed. The group who joined when the site peaked has become the only users. Over time this active user base slowly dwindles. Any attempt to stop the slow bleed out is futile.I think the time to do something about keeping the user base active has came and gone. This site has changed or improved very little since I originally joined back in 2002. Perhaps if new tech had been implemented the site could have stayed popular longer but I think this downturn is inevitable. A website can't stay cool, fresh and attractive to the young crowd forever. The most obvious reason we don't have new recruits anymore is the topics discussed here are ones that interest people in their late 20's and early mid 30's. College kids are not going to relate to anything we have to say. That is why we keep coming back to this site year after. I think we have something special here. Who else has a social site that they can grow old with?

9/16/2013 9:30:56 PM
I don't think it needs to be that complicated. One or both of these two forums added to the site. New UsersCampus/College LifeThe former being what I mentioned and the latter being something where students could discuss all facets of being a current student. Dorm living, night life on and around campus, social events, etc. This area may need to be restricted to currently enrolled students, or at least closely moderated at first. I think if you had these two new areas tightly managed and moderated you could leave the rest of the site alone for the most part. Again, I'm old, but I don't feel like the entire site needs a complete overhaul. I just think we need to have a way to attract and keep new users. Once we had something to entice current students we could then work on advertising to try and bring them back to the site. Painting the wall again, flyers, chalking, maybe even convincing some people to chip in and have a social event in the brickyard, ruckus, and/or bada.
9/16/2013 11:44:29 PM
No current college kids are joining, no one without an ncsu email can join without paying (fuck that), and so that means when anyone leaves they aren't getting replaced. The board wouldn't do well if a flood of 18 year olds joined, everyone is too get off my lawn for that. I do enjoy the lounge though, seems to have less of the crap the other sections suffer from.
9/17/2013 11:08:03 PM
^^Well you can currently get to this site by typing thewolfweb, or brentroad. We need to do that with the second url being newwolfweb. The front page needs to have links to all of the new forums and the other ones need to only be selectable by using a drop down menu.
9/18/2013 12:37:17 AM
It has been going to shit ever since they tried to ban all discussion about bars outside of one lounge thread.
9/18/2013 10:02:33 AM
What do you all think was/is the cause of this? The majority of the users are several years removed from college, and thus have jobsWhat do you plan to do about it?Start posting nudes?
9/18/2013 10:05:02 AM
Big4Country, that is a terrible idea. Look at how well Myspace has been doing lately.elise has nailed it.

have an undergrad only forum. new users that register with an @ncsu.edu address only. no grandfathered @ncsu.edu usernames allowed. allow the new userbase to foster their own identities and discuss things relevant to them. If and when they want to join the rest of us will be waiting in Chit Chat. or just start out every new user with 10k posts so they have instant credibility to you people. ]
9/18/2013 10:57:34 AM
New user / current student forums should have mandatory unity id usernames

Anyone care to dig up some of the 64329872347 threads where this has been discussed before?YET HERE WE AREIt would be interesting some actual historical data [paging qntm or whoever] instead of all this endlessly rehashed "the site is dying" shit.
9/18/2013 11:12:16 AM
It's not gonna die.I won't let it.
9/18/2013 12:54:13 PM

I'm very late in commenting and I can't contribute anything that hasn't been said, but I think it warrants repeating. The #1 reason for t-dub's decline (ie why new users won't join) is because of all the negativity. This of course refers to all the trolls, who even in this very thread are doing nothing but cracking jokes and just not caring. But it also refers to a lot of the controversy and notoriety that has surrounded the site over the years. The accusations of racism, the various pranks and stunts, the constant drama, the attacks and invasions of other sites, people heavily affiliated with this site getting arrested, etc. TWW has a bad name attached to it, and whenever anyone tries to have an open and honest discussion about it, they get slapped down hard. And yes, this site is VERY hard on new recruits. It's true that you have to grow a thick skin to be able to hang around on the internet, especially when anonymity is added to the mix, but TWW's initiation can be pretty vicious. Between the non-stop "stfu n00b" posts and the constant sexual harassment of new female users, it's little wonder nobody wants to stay here.Somehow I toughed it out and stuck around for pretty much my entire time at State, which was nearly 6 years (7 if you count the year I took off between my first and second degrees). I survived. But I ultimately left because I saw the decline and I saw nothing being done about it. Some people spoke up about it but got drowned out and called fags, the people with the power to actually do anything had either left a long time ago or became too busy IRL to get involved, and everybody else just heckled and patted themselves on the back. In the end, I got tired of caring. It could be said that I cared too much, that I'm just a fag for having taken this place too seriously. But for better or for worse, it was my community and I wanted to participate in it and contribute. But the problems with this place festered and went untreated, and all anyone could do was point at it and laugh. So one day I finally just said "fuck it." If the "l337" members want to keep their secret clubhouse pure and exclusive, let them.

Thank you for the input thus far, everyone. I haven't heard too much so far by the way of mind-bending revelations, but I wasn't really expecting to. I have received a lot of validation on my previously held beliefs, so thank you again. Some problems and issues would be easier to address than others, obviously. But its really great to hear this stuff from our user base. If there are any newer users reading this, I would encourage you to speak up.... I would very much like to hear your ideas too. Please, continue the discussion.
9/23/2013 8:49:40 AM
well let's see how it pans out, let's compare roughly the same day over the past few years
