After smashing the window, i wonder what'd they'd do? Let the dog runoff into the parking lot and get hit by a car? I imagine the crashing glass would scare the shit out the dog.

I've already left my dog in the car a couple times since its gotten hotter. It's usually only a couple minutes, maybe 5-10 at the most. I keep the car running, AC on, and one window halfway open. I come back and he's usually snoozing in the backseat, comfortable as fuck.

I have a pickup truck, I let the dogs hang out in it if I'm running errands with the windows down. Works nicely, because there's another set of teeth inside if someone's dumb enough to stick their hand in the car with an 80 lb Weim mix on the other end.

I want to get a fake infant - like a really high-quality infant mannequin - and then drive to Barnes and Noble or something and leave it strapped in the backseat, in 100 degree weather. I don't think this is against the law.

Do it at a Wal-mart so you can watch some obese dude with a mullet flip his shit. Redneck rage is much more entertaining.

I'd simply call my insurance company, and report that some vandals had shattered my windows (making no mention of the fake infant.) Problem solved.]

May not be the case if someone had any social responsibility and called 911. Police reports tend to muck up insurance claims like that.

At all the ski resorts there's a lot of people who leave their dogs in the car while they ski. I've never done it but I guess it's certainly warm enough in the car during the day. If it's 20's - 30's outsides it's probably 50's - 60's in the car depending on sun and such. Plus half the dogs are huskies anyway.

This Yukon pretty much belongs to my dog. She is the main reason I bought it, so I can keep her shedding ass out of my car which I use to show houses. I also drive it on the beach which is pretty much only for the dog too. The beach across from my families vacation home does not allow dogs in the Spring/Summer but the North End does so yeah I have an SUV that cost $3300 and a beach driving pass that was another $100, plus replacing the wheel bearings that the sand fucked up, all for the dog. Those of you with kids are probably thinking WTF, but I don't have any kids so the dog gets special treatment. I don't leave the dog in here with the windows up ever, also I am not stupid enough to think that opening them like 1" makes any difference in temp, you have to leave them all the way down so that air can actually blow through the car. I do not take the dog along when I am going shopping in like a big box store but will run errands like going in the post office or to grab lunch.

^ I'm like this guy...except I got a used 4Runner for my dog.

Me too. No kids so our dog is spoiled. She even gets matching snow gear:

it's all about the sun exposure...70 in direct sunlight can get hot as hell in a car. 80 and cloudy, or in the shade, not so much. Much more that 80 in any circumstance, and it's a no go, unless you leave the a/c on.

my chihuahuas love riding in the car. so much so that they will jump in random strangers cars if they happen to come upon an open door. so anytime i have to run a quick errand i take them with me. they are much happier sitting in the car for 10 minutes while i pick up dinner than they would be stuck at home, in a kennel. if you have half a brain you know when it is too warm or sunny to leave them in the car. however....i work in tech support so i know how stupid the general population can be
6/28/2015 9:27:41 PM
this is my thought... if my dog is happy when i go in and happy when i come out i'm bringing my dog.....truth is 90% of the time when i drive with the dogs they are getting out of the car with me. the other 10% my wife is with me and staying in the car with the dogs because i don't trust animal rights loons that have no idea what my dogs do and do not like trying to "liberate" them.I'll never leave my dog in a car on a day hotter than 80. and if someone were to smash a window to free it... i'm pretty sure my dogs would get defensive because loud noises startle them and they consider the cars "their house" too.
