I'm a 30yr old white guy, who is anti gun control, who makes more than $100K/Yr (when you include benefits) and typically votes Libertarian.I thought GZ was guilty until I heard the facts of the case. I still believe that had the state gone for manslaughter throughout the trial, they may have gotten a conviction. The defense (and the prosecution) gave me enough evidence for me to go from thinking he was guilty, to thinking: "well... maybe he is, but they certainly didn't prove it"

Innocent until proven guilty. This is always my stance. And it should be that of any American who values freedom and justice.[Edited on July 16, 2013 at 9:34 PM. Reason : bam]

I went from thinking that Zimmerman was a jackass who used poor judgment but committed no crime...To thinking that is possibly the case, but there's also a good chance that he didn't do anything wrong, let alone illegal....and in either case, the prosecution's case against him was laughable, and it speaks poorly of our criminal justice system that they would even bring a case like that to court and seek a conviction. If Zimmerman hadn't had a good lawyer (and/or had been black and/or not presented himself as a normal, middle-class citizen), who knows what would have happened. Our justice system has problems, but not in that Zimmerman got off--he never should've been in court to begin with. The problem is what happens to people like him every day who are dark or poor or poorly spoken or from the wrong neighborhood or some combination of the above. That, and we collectively made a valiant attempt at institutionalized mob justice, and we can't tolerate the institution doing that.

You are completely missing the point of that sentence, due to the fact that you're retarded and willfully avoiding objective thought.

it's a he-said he-said, with the problem being that one of the "he's" is dead.we will never truly know how the conflict started.i'm sick of people saying trayvon jumped zimmerman as though it is fact.for all we know zimmerman flashed his gun and legitimately threatened to take trayvon's life before any physical contact.or not. don't know.[Edited on July 17, 2013 at 8:18 PM. He killed a guy. Murder or not he has to live with it. I think after hearing the trial the verdict was appropriate.

^^^ Usually people resort to stuff like that when they're backed into a corner and they can't explain their point.Care to fill me on in one you mean then? How is he a victim?[Edited on July 17, 2013 at 9:17 PM. Reason : ]

[old], but i wouldn't be surprised if that's how it happened. crazy vigilante stalks teenager through is own neighborhood. teenager is scared and flights. crazy vigilante starts chasing him. in the heat of the moment, teenager stops fLighting, turns, and starts fighting. teenager begins to pummel crazy vigilante. crazy vigilante pulls a gun and shoots teenager. teenager dies. crazy vigilante wins.or it might have happened a lot differently. we don't know.

^^^^^ I don't think it's tough to see how Zimmerman was potentially 100% victim here, or potentially at least a victim guilty of nothing but poor judgment (along with poor judgment on the part of Martin). It's also very possible that Zimmerman was harassing Martin, or even that he truly instigated the altercation by threatening him/trying to detain him, etc. I find that very last scenario less likely, but nonetheless possiblebut:The reason for my comment about you missing the point is that the statement you referenced wasn't calling Zimmerman a victim to begin with, or even about Zimmerman at all.[Edited on July 17, 2013 at 11:14 PM. Reason : goddamn, out of my entire post, you pick the liberal, pro-poor minority part to dispute?]
