I've been asked by multiple people if i know about "kodi" it's so unfortunate that it's become synonymous with piracy. Can it really beat sonarr/sabnzb/couchpotato/plex setup?

I thought about buying a firetv just so I can give an informed opinion on it but what i have in my mind and the little that I do know it's xbmc with a bunch of unofficial addons/channels that find Cams and TS's and other crappy quality releases that stream at 500KB/s and will stop working in 1 month and you have to find a new channel. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I can't fathom paying money for the privilege to STEAL stuff. hey man, lemme create a paper trail for my theft, while claiming I don't have money to support content I clearly enjoy, while funding leeches that add nothing to the ecosystem, and then wondering why TV sucks

I have the same but replace Plex with Kodi. Kodi on an HTPC >>>>>>>> Plex or anything else on a cheap streaming device. Not only do those devices not play things at 24p (at least most of them) but you're usually transcoding something. With my HTPC and Kodi I have complete control over a/v sync, video frame sync, and numerous other things.

Kodi is XBMC. They just rebranded due to a copyright issue. They basically just took XBMC and swapped out the name. It's just the latest XBMC version. Kodi doesn't come with any plugins or anything. It's simply XBMC rebranded.

I finally got everything setup perfectly but yeah I notice when it has to transcode for remote play so I'm tempted to build another dedicated HTPC. Local files it usually just dumps them to the front end. Vizio has a plex app that looks pretty damn polished. It looks better than Confluence ever did on XBMC.

^Newer versions of Kodi are pretty nice.

I got Plex working on my Fire TV stick but then figured out that it doesn't support surround sound passthrough to my receiver from .mkv files. Not sure if that's changed or not.

I do use Plex on the go like at hotel's and on my phone.

I assume automated is the only way to go now. Things get pulled of newsgroups so quickly its usually gone by the time I think to login and download it. Pretty annoying.

synapse....I was a heavy user of usenet back in the day, but lots of stuff started falling off. About a year ago I turned it back up and found that a lot of the stuff I was looking for was no longer available.

^^ think the URL is inaccessible in US (and maybe Canada?) I use a VPN to connect through Europe to use TPB UI.

I have one invite for morethan.tv. It's a decent tracker for anything new, especially TV shows. Gets Thrones about 10-15 minutes after it's up on streaming services at the very least. Be willing to trade it for an invite to a private tracker more focused on HD/4k movies, especially older releases.

Nevermind, I'm a liar. Logged in to my account and it says "Invites have been disabled globaly." Maybe some other time.
