3.^that's odd... I used my gmail address just fine.and they JUST updated the free version like yesterday or the day before. might want to grab that if you haven't. (before you figure out the paid version, which is worth every penny)
2/17/2013 4:36:51 PM
yeah, i guess gmail filters them as spam?i downloaded the demo yesterday, and just bought the full.the full is a little overwhelming at first. so many parts.
2/17/2013 4:42:13 PM
you will get used to it and learn where your favorite parts are in the background of all the other shit.
2/17/2013 5:28:38 PM
yeah. ive built something that flys, i can get to mun, but i cant orbit it, which is what i want to do right now.i'm sure i'll get it with practice.trying to figure out how to build a space station though. like, what parts you use
2/17/2013 6:33:18 PM
start simple... use the kerbal storage container, some docking ports, fuel tanks (assuming you will want to dock and refuel craft), solar panels, and a battery. Docking is harder than landing and returning from mun in my opinion.as far as orbiting mun, use the maneuver nodes. they make it super simple.
2/17/2013 7:15:53 PM
my first station - KSS Alpha - was a conglomeration of fuel tanks, docking nodes (with ports attached), a kerbal storage tank, and some more docking nodes. I assembled a more planned truss-based station at one of the docking ports and am now currently sending it to Mun.
2/17/2013 7:20:15 PM
So, it would be more of a supply station, than say our current iss, where you drop people off?
2/17/2013 7:50:25 PM
well however you want to make it really... mine is a little of both.
2/17/2013 8:06:45 PM
Here is my Munar Space Station Alpha... it's main purpose right now is an unmanned fuel depot.
2/17/2013 9:08:09 PM
how many launched did that take you to put together?
2/17/2013 9:37:04 PM
just two for the hardware... the big orange tank is my new standard "refill" tank that I attached to the pre-launched truss with the tank/poodle engine on the other end. I guess probably in all it was 3-4 if you include the fuel i had stored in my Kerbal Space Station which I transferred before trans-munar injection.
2/18/2013 7:21:02 AM
I'm in the process of building a new space station to be used as a fuel depot, space construction platform, and crew exchange. The first main piece is is the solar array. I'm using a 3-way splitter with the small clampotrons to dock the 3 main large sections of the station together (solar, habitat ring, fuel docking)... doing it this way to ensure they line up properly.
2/24/2013 2:31:31 PM
Here are my first two sections of "Outpost Prime" connected with the 3-way Clampotron Jrs.
2/24/2013 3:22:13 PM
pretty neat. i wanna do neat things still working on learning how to dock.
2/24/2013 3:28:57 PM
line up the pink, yellow, and orange dots
2/24/2013 3:55:33 PM
i wish i had more time to play this game, is it as awesome as it seems ?
2/24/2013 5:11:25 PM
No.It is twice as awesome as it seems.
2/24/2013 6:38:18 PM
smath, can i bribe you to upload that ship? i want to see how you built it
2/24/2013 8:45:02 PM
Did a little housekeeping/rearrangement... decoupled the side boosters off of the solar power side and docked them into the two free docking ports in the middle of the solar structure... these will be saved and used as a kick stage for future craft (which haven't been designed yet). I also took the nuclear "tug" off of the back of the same stage and docked it into my fuel/engine docking array. The station is ready for it's 3rd major component (habitation section) to be connected via another 3-way clampotron jr. Yeah i can upload these ships. Give me a little while to get everything connected and tested. (probably tomorrow or next day)
2/24/2013 9:06:47 PM
is there any type of undo command, like if i am creating an orbital maneuver and i screw it up really bad?[Edited on February 27, 2013 at 12:35 AM. Reason : version 18 demo]

F5 to quicksave, hold down F9 to reload from the last quicksave spot.

My attempt at making an artificial gravity track for my Kerbalnauts. It sort of worked. I EVAed to the track, spun it up using the ASAS, and the Edwin Kerman definitely clung to the wall... in fact i spun it up so that it was a little bit more than 1 G as the thrusters wouldn't lift him off of the centrifuge wall. The problem was that the game wouldn't give him any traction to walk around on the track. OH WELL.
3/2/2013 4:42:14 PM
Here's some "action" pics... This Kerbal is pinned to the side in about a 0.5 G spin.
3/2/2013 5:11:22 PM
...I'm getting my ass handed to me ITT.
3/2/2013 6:27:32 PM
eh, not a competition... your star wars motif actually inspired my design of my Kethane probes is there a way to start a multiplayer game for wolfweb folks so we could collaborate on shit?
3/2/2013 9:56:26 PM
Outpost Prime completed. All three major sections joined with the tri-clampotron jr's. Getting attacked by the damned Kraken so I'll get some better pictures later
3/2/2013 11:05:46 PM

3/2/2013 11:15:49 PM
good lord that's awesome
3/3/2013 12:08:11 AM
thank you... here are some "artificial gravity" shots after i spun Outpost Prime up to a nice ~0.25 G spin. (again, the program doesn't allow for traction in artificial gravity so the kerbalnauts are just pinned to the perimeter) "hi there"

My Zeus Mothership has finally arrived at Eve. This image was taken when the ship first entered eve's atmosphere for aerobraking. It unexpectedly turned a purple hue. (solar panels retracted of course)
3/10/2013 10:42:34 AM
So, is this game intended to become multiplayer at some point?
3/10/2013 5:42:29 PM
i don't think anytime in the near future.
3/10/2013 6:17:42 PM
3/10/2013 6:18:48 PM
ha... it's the nerd-name for internal bugs that make ships do really weird things.
3/10/2013 6:30:52 PM
oh. I knew this game was silly in parts, but a massive space-monster would be taking things to a whole different level.]
3/10/2013 7:10:23 PM
I'm building my first ship whoooooo. Apparently I don't know shit about aerodynamics because I can't get a bigger set of rockets out of the atmosphere without tumbling end over end. Mind you I've been playing for about 20 minutes.
3/10/2013 9:09:50 PM
make sure to add an ASAS and toggle it on before you launch with the "t" key!
3/10/2013 9:14:43 PM
try pressing 'T' to turn on the SAS stabilization[Edited on March 10, 2013 at 9:15 PM. Reason : ^beat me to it]

I figured that out after posting and it helped me get into orbit, but I'm not very good at controlling orbit. I watched a video where you could press a button to make the orbit automatically maneuver towards being circular, but maybe that was a mod?So I have two ships in rough orbit. Trying to build anything bigger is falling apart. Even those two ships were quite wobbly and damaging parts of itself. Then again I'm using the demo so there's not exactly a lot of material to work with.Debating the full version. I kind of want it to play with the space planes...
3/11/2013 2:05:28 AM
if you want to circularize the orbit, the easiest way is to point forwards at the apoapsis and then thrust. This will bring the periapsis up in altitude. Use the navball, and do it in map mode. (m key). make sure you are lined up with the yellow circle marker[Edited on March 11, 2013 at 6:07 AM. Reason : ]

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYu7z3I8tdEm5nyZU3a-O2ak6mBYXWPALScott Manley is a great resource when it comes to this game... he's a physicist i believe so he adds a lot of realism in his commentary on the game. The link above is a playlist of several tutorials he has made for newish players trying to learn... stick with it. once you get over the learning curve things get exponentially more fun!
3/11/2013 12:01:09 PM
i've watched some of that guy's videos...didn't know he was a physicist but it makes sense, cause he knows his shit
3/11/2013 12:28:43 PM
Been playing with the demo more than I should considering there's only so much you can do with what they give you. Tempted to get the game but I want SimCity too, hmmmm.
3/11/2013 5:42:55 PM
PLAY ORBITER!!!!
3/11/2013 6:22:39 PM
eh, you can be more creative in KSP.
3/12/2013 9:59:43 AM
I may try Orbiter just because it's FREEEEEEEE.But I like KSP a lot just from the demo. However there's no parachute in the demo so I'm basically just throwing ships at the moon, and more recently trying to throw one into the sun. The symmetry button is fucking necessary wow. I went from barely making it into orbit to breezing out into the solar system (mind you... the empty one in the demo).Watching some of the videos though, I see people using an Advanced SAS that has a numerical entry tab in the upper right. Is that a mod?
3/12/2013 2:13:27 PM
there is a parachute in the demo
3/12/2013 2:47:48 PM
^^not sure what you mean... example?
3/12/2013 7:30:21 PM
Smath have you used any mods? The aircraft carrier looks kinda cool
3/12/2013 7:37:43 PM
^^Go to like, 7 minutes into this Scott Manley video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJBSea-3DHsI realize it's Smart SAS not ASAS so maybe it is a mod?
