I've read the thread, but can someone give me a run-down on the current pros and cons of ST?It sounds like ATT is the way to go, and it can access ATT's 4G LTE network now? So you get around 2.5GB of 3/4G data for $45/month? What differences are there between being a ST customer and an ATT [full-paying] customer? What about ST for Verizon? A non-starter?

Straighttalk is a pain in the ass with an iPhone unless you jailbreak it.
10/10/2013 10:57:17 AM
most of my monthly data usage is around 2-2.5GB so I asked a few friends with ST about this same thing. I have a friend that uses somewhere between 2-3 every month and he said he has never noticed any issues (6 months of straight talk now). just some anecdotal input.

With the N5 not being available on Verizon, I'm really thinking about giving this ST a try when the N5 comes out...
10/10/2013 11:07:52 AM
that's the current thought process for my wife and I as well. I was going to stick with my Verizon unlimited and just pay retail for a phone. But since it looks like N5 isn't available on Verizon and my wife was already planning to switch to ST, I might be there with her.
10/10/2013 11:16:35 AM
i'm right there with you, fellasor i might just get a note 3 or a G2. i'll wait until google does their little song and dance

are sellers on ebay usually legit or not? with prices like:$40 for 30 days$102 for 90 days$200 for 180 daysi don't understand how they can legitimately sell refills as low as $33.33/month
10/14/2013 1:48:28 PM
i'm not sure what i'm doing with my verizon acct, so I ordered one just in case

ST allows BYOP CDMA devices, right? anyone here done it?
10/28/2013 1:46:05 PM
i thought only GSM
10/28/2013 4:45:44 PM
they must have added cdma byop recently. they used to only have gsm, but it now looks like you can get a cdma access code.http://www.straighttalkbyop.com/shop-cdma.php
10/28/2013 5:42:28 PM
apparently they had it for all of a week back in april and then abruptly discontinued it...it's been back for a couple of weeks (maybe more than a month?) now

FYI, Straight Talk requires a signature on [$8] SIM shipments Anyone know why?
11/4/2013 10:39:12 AM
6 months unlimited for $220 (ends up being $36.67/month): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004AYZKE8/i bought one before posting, since these tend to disappear within an hour or so
11/7/2013 10:29:23 AM
I suppose buying from Amazon affords some protection not found on ebay. How did you find that listing?
11/7/2013 11:29:22 AM
^^^lol i warned you
11/7/2013 11:46:24 AM
^^ slickdeals deal alert...they seem to pop up every month or so
11/7/2013 1:20:56 PM
so, the online submission I had that crashed while processing the payment seems to have still gone through on the payment side, as well as the one they processed on the phone call (since the website crashed). It says my service end date is still 30 days from the day I activated, but it does show both charges in my Payment History.Does anyone know if I should expect them to apply that extra payment to next month? Or should I be contacting them to ask them to remove the double payment?
11/8/2013 8:20:50 AM
i'd contact them...just because
11/8/2013 9:41:56 AM
wtf
11/8/2013 2:10:55 PM
what were you ordering?
11/8/2013 3:00:07 PM
a SIM with 30 days of service... Reordered right after I got the email and still haven't received a confirmation for that one. Would ordering from walmart be safer?
11/8/2013 7:13:40 PM
They were having some serious technical issues all day yesterday...they told me to call back like 3-4 times in 1-2 hours, was trying to port my number. Not sure if that's to explain for your ordering issues but it's possible.I ended up getting one SIM for my N5 to try out the service...ended up being completely unnecessary as the service is awesome. Ordered a new SIM card to port my number to and derped it up by ordering a regular sized SIM card (blame it on the a a a alc...). Turned out to be pretty easy to trim the thing down to micro with scissors, thankfully. Just called them and had my number ported from Verizon, and they were able to apply my remaining 27ish days from my old SIM/account to my ported number.
11/9/2013 1:24:40 PM
awesome! Their website is not always that great; it seems like a lot of people have issues ordering stuff. Fortunately their customer service is actually not terrible and once your account is set up and your number ported it seems like it is pretty straight forward from then on.

Swiping up on the lock screen to open Google Now doesn't work with the Google launcher on my Nexus 4. I assume this works on the Nexus 5???
11/10/2013 4:29:56 PM
Net10 is loosing a customer. Im trying to transfer between a carrier SIM card Ive used before but has been inactive for months. Website gives errors says to call in. Guy says they need to mail me a new one. "Thats fine, but dont turn off my service until I get the new card". Service dropped by the next morning. That was Thursday night. Called in several times to bitch and getting nothing but the run around "Its in the mail, only going to take 24hours". I get that Im paying a discount on customer service but this is procedural bullshit they need to fix if they want people to use their service.

Straight Talk just sent me a text:
12/5/2013 11:44:40 AM
does anyone on here have multiple phones on the same straight talk account? I know that seems like a really stupid question, but the way their accounts and their website are, it doesn't seem intuitively clear whether I could add my wife's phone onto the same "account." Not that it matters too much, but I was just curious. We just got her Nexus 5 in last night and are planning to activate it tonight (she is coming from a very old clamshell simple feature phone straight to nexus 5 )
12/5/2013 12:15:17 PM
^ I know when I deactivated my old SIM and activated my new SIM, both were listed in my account until I hit the link to remove the deactivated one...if that's any help.
12/5/2013 12:35:25 PM
thanks. The reason I asked was because I noticed I could activate another sim - I just wasn't sure if it was basically a "replacement" or if both could stay active on my account. Normally I wouldn't question that but I don't know the ins and outs of ST and their website is certainly a little lacking.I will say that I called today about my duplicate charge the first month and it was resolved quickly. I'll see if the refund shows up on my card in the next 24 hours. Overall I have still been very happy with my AT&T sim.
12/5/2013 12:53:26 PM
Decided just to do a separate account for my wife's #. She has been on the phone for awhile though - they keep telling her that her Verizon account information is not accurate to transfer her number. Hopefully that will get resolved soon.

Anybody know of any good deals on an ATT compatible phone? $200ish range plz. ]
2/25/2014 3:40:12 PM
^ is LTE necessary?
2/25/2014 6:39:58 PM
You can get the Nokia Lumia 920 for ~200 bones used. iPhone 4S for a little more. Galaxy S3 and Nexus 5 used for ~200
2/26/2014 1:12:56 AM
^^ No, something that supports HSPA+ would be fine.^ Thanks. I don't think picture taking is important or I'd have him consider the Lumia, and he doesn't want iPhone...leaning Android. You meant Nexus 4 and not 5 right? Is that a good choice against the Moto G?GS4 will be dropping in price when the GS5 is released ...not sure when that is though.[Edited on February 26, 2014 at 9:55 AM. Reason : ]
2/26/2014 9:54:40 AM
^Yes Nexus 4. And the S3 is still going for ~300, but I'm guessing that will drop a bit when the S5 releases. The S4 definitely won't be in your price range.I'd stay away from anything Morotola. With the Lenovo acquisition, I'm betting they will EndOfLife pretty much everything in the current Moto lineup. Android is great, unless you're getting a phone with no future support. If you don't need a great camera, why not give the Lumia 520 a shot? $59.99 brand new, full Windows Phone experience (unlike pretty much every budget android phone). If you don't like it, take it back. [Edited on February 26, 2014 at 9:39 PM. Reason : .]

motoG from the google play store is the best you'll get. it's treated like a nexus device and gets updates day 1
2/28/2014 5:34:26 AM
I don't know if you are planning on using the phone on straight talk, but if you are, you need to make sure that the phone you get is sim unlocked
2/28/2014 7:06:07 AM
AT&T's 2GB $65 monthly plan (minus whatever discount i get from work) has me thinking about switching over. I'd have to see what the final price is.I'm generally happy with ST's service...only hangup is there's often a delay in data service, like I'll try to open a webpage or something and it hangs for 5-10 seconds before acting as normal. Suppose that could be my phone though...[Edited on March 10, 2014 at 3:58 PM. Reason : V yeah i've got the same phone. not the biggest deal in the world.]
3/10/2014 3:51:18 PM
I definitely have not noticed that (Nexus 5 on ATT)
3/10/2014 3:54:36 PM
Im thinking of switching to Straight Talk or Cricket very soon. Im currently on Sprint, so a decrease in price and increase on service should be pretty easy to obtain. Has anyone used an unlocked HTC One M8 on either? Maybe Im crazy considering that phone for prepaid, but Im still saving money over 2 years versus a 2 year contract plan.
