it was pretty good, the end with all the suits fighting was pretty cool. probably better than #2, but not as good as #1.

They definitely use the idea of armors in Saint Seiya.

can't wait for this movie...really looking forward to it

I expect more for Man of Steel.
5/1/2013 11:01:42 AM
Agreed, but I'm still hype to watch it at IMAX on Sunday.

Just got back from the midnight show. Great movie, better than the second one for sure. I feel as if they tried a little too hard to make it funny though, I felt as if some of the humor was out of place. I wish they would have had some kind of explanation as to why none of the other Avengers were around to help out though.
5/3/2013 2:19:16 AM
because it's an iron man movie.
5/3/2013 2:49:15 AM
I didn't like this one as much as the other 2.
5/3/2013 4:27:51 AM
I loved it. Almost as entertaining as the avengers and by far the funniest of all the marvel movies. Comic book nerds are going to be pissed though because of all the tropes it utterly shits on.

It's the superhero version of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and it's awesome.
5/3/2013 6:05:34 PM
^Not necessarily. I'd think that SHIELD would be working to help track down the Mandarin, not just the US Military.
5/3/2013 9:37:02 PM
That final fight was probably the closest I'll ever get to seeing Liquid and Solid Snake fighting on top of Metal Gear REX.It's all I could imagine.
5/3/2013 9:44:10 PM
BELIEVE IN THE SHIELD
5/3/2013 9:49:24 PM
Just got back from seeing it, all in all not bad, but...[SPOILERS]The way they portrayed Mandarin bugged the piss out of me. I felt like after the build up from pre-release press and the fact that he's (arguably) the biggest Iron Man villain, that it was kind of insulting to the character to not really have him in it. Also with the extremis storyline and Guy Pearce as Killian, I thought it was just unnecessary to have to use the Mandarin name unless you plan on including a real mandarin later on.[/SPOILERS]but it was a great movie and I look forward to more entries to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

5/3/2013 11:31:35 PM
^^ I have to agree with this 100%.
5/4/2013 1:27:37 AM
^^^[SPOILERS]I haven't seen it, but it's my understanding that they don't go the magical ring route. That's fine with me. One of my worries with Mandarin was that having rings with individual powers would be too similar to having a glove with 5 gems with individual powers and I'd rather see an Infinity Gauntlet adaptation than a Mandarin adaptation. In other words I thought the concepts would be so similar that they'd put off or not do an Infinity Gauntlet movie.[/SPOILERS]
5/4/2013 6:49:31 AM
Yeah you just need to see it first to understand what he means
5/4/2013 7:33:50 AM
Movie was mehNot enough time to get into all the specifics
5/4/2013 4:31:39 PM
My biggest gripe was that he was Tony Stark far too much and Iron Man far too little in this movie. Kind of glad that did a [spoiler]suit reset at the end so Avengers 2 doesn't have 99 different armors flying around.[/spoiler]Overall I liked it more than the 2nd one, but not as much as the first one to me. It's definitely worth seeing though and I'd consider it a solid addition to the Avengers franchise.

i really wasn't a fan. i thought the movie just seemed off. i hated how they handled the mandarin.
5/4/2013 11:59:41 PM
Sigh...wasted the Mandarin. Wasted Ben Kingsley. Completely mediocre. This might top the complete lack of respect for Venom in SM3...wait no nothing can top that.[Edited on May 5, 2013 at 12:24 AM. Reason : ]

I thought the same thing jbtilley.I mean, I guess the Mandarin can always make a "triumphant return" - it was all an act kinda thing. I didn't see that coming at all.
5/5/2013 10:52:47 AM
I don't understand -why he destroyed all the suits-why a suit detonation didn't kill Mandarin but pepper kicking a missile at him did-for real why did he destroy the suits, did he give up being iron man? Obviously not cause of movie franchises but seemed dumb-why was the virtual suit necessary during the president plane rescue part-why didn't he show up to the final battle in a suitI too thought it was too much Tony Stark and not enough Iron Man, especially when most of the iron man time was with a shitty unweaponized model that you pulled out after you specifically threatened terrorists. I guess they thought a normal suit would make him OP and make a boring movie[Edited on May 5, 2013 at 11:15 AM. Reason : Jkl]

Is it easy to pick out which scenes were filmed in Cary and Wilmington?
5/5/2013 11:17:35 AM
yeahWilmington more easily
5/5/2013 11:45:13 AM
^^^Maybe they were going this route:http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a96/The_mango55/ironman.jpgIn the comics this was accomplished via a heavily modified Extremis.
5/5/2013 1:46:06 PM
So was this filmed in IMAX or is it all post conversion?Trying to decide what version to see.

I really liked it up until the end. tony stark on his own figuring shit out was pretty cool. I mean you kind of always know the suit hes dragging around isn't the only one hes got, but the idea that he doesn't have time to go get one is what creates the drama. but then at the end hes got a basement full of autopilot suits. why the fuck didn't he just use them earlier? It kind of ruins everything before it.pretty much everything after he calls up his suit army is kind of lame and predictable. Oh no! pepper fell! she is certainly dead since they have at no time pumped her full of immortality serum! oh no! tony is on the ropes! who will save him!! pepper??? wow! did not see that coming!!but whatever. the majority of the movie is pretty good, just ignore most of the ending.[Edited on May 5, 2013 at 9:10 PM. also the mandarin "twist" was great b/c he didn't make a lot of sense as the big bad.
5/5/2013 9:12:10 PM
I enjoyed it, but wasn't super wowed. It seemed like this was set up so that it could be the last in the Iron Man series if need be. Which I'd be fine with the character continuing on just in Avenger movies. It referenced other movies, but felt like a stand alone movie with introducing and defeating a villain in a kind of a monster of the week way, rather than building on the plot of previous movies in a significant way.But it was solid enough that I'd definitely watch Iron Man 4 if they make it. I'd also watch a War Machine movie too for sure.
5/5/2013 10:33:21 PM
I couldn't stand it. I was literally rolling in my seat like it was a grave. but it didnt make me lose my mind in rage like Xmen 3 and Spiderman 3. SPOILERS.1) Mandarin . terrible the direction they took him imo ( even though he's a crappy main comic book villain) I get it. caveman terrorist. it's the American nightmare now. I rolled my eyes at it but I let it slide and then they pulled the "the real man behind the curtain" scene and I lost my eyeballs. I dont mind them reinventing a character but be clever, make him have a purpose or a good plot point. theses never showed up. 2) Pepper Potts. just a irrelevant character. they made me not care for her for two movies. through out the whole movie I never got a sense she was in any danger and then in a short brief scene (followed by an Iron man joke scene, mind you) they killed off her character. I looked up at the screen in shock and awe. they just killed off a major character bluntly. nice. I thought Iron man was going to have an emotional breakdown scene and get up in that forgettable no name villain's ass. but .....NOPE. dramatic curve-ball. she's safe and has super powers now annnd she knows how to control it. Dont worry audience we wont cause you to be upset,I mean, we already have your money though.3) the real bad guy. he was Guy pierce with internal volcano powers. I couldn't tell if he was doing it for revenge, or wanted global conquest, or he was just psychotic. Not even one good quote from him. It should have been the Mandarin the whole time. And I get that the soldiers had human volcano powers, that was explained in the movie, but they had super strength and flying acrobatic skills as well?... I want some. I like the big climaxing fighting scene but all the iron man movies have that same scene playing out like that. I like the end credits too and the movie was funnier than I thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be a darker film. I should have known better. I also liked a lot the Tony Stark McGyver scene in the town's bar. then that was destroyed when he broke into the mansion with the world worst security guards and christmas ornaments .this made me appreciate the Dark Knight trilogy more. cream of the crap. they even pulled the " I dont want to be batman anymore, clean slate, and wrap everything up in a nice bow" sceneTL;DR. I thought the movie was alright imo. I like the colorful credits
5/7/2013 7:00:08 PM
Hold up...I just found out this movie was made by Shane Black. the Lethal Weapons director. And it IS a Lethal Weapon movie especially towards the end. Now that I know this it was a good popcorn movie. fun all around. Go watch it in 3D
5/7/2013 7:57:21 PM
^ He wrote Lethal Weapon, Richard Donner directed it. I know him as the guy with the bad pussy jokes in Predator. Also, loved that all of the Downton Abbey scenes in Happy's room were of Branson, the chauffeur.

I hadn't seen the first one in awhile so I missed a couple of tie ins. Apparently Dr. Yinsen is in the opening part of the movie when Tony is in Switzerland. He mentioned meeting him in Bern while they were in the cave in the first movie. Also when Tony is doing the video message when he is held by the terrorists in the first movie they are in front of The Mandarin's banner. I do enjoy when there are little things like that to try to tie the stories together. Outside of that, it was enjoyable overall. I liked it more than the second but they will be hard pressed to top the first one, if for no other reason than the fact that I had no real expectations going in and really enjoyed it.
5/8/2013 7:21:01 AM
I enjoyed it... I thought the after credit scene was hilarious, but i was hoping for something more to insinuate that Tony hadn't really given up the Ironman gig.

Other than the color of his R8? Or salvaging the robotic arm? Or literally saying "I am Iron Man"?]
