I've noticed that, too. When I watch reruns from last season I think to myself, well that was actually kind of funny. I think each season seems poor because the season before it was better. But then when you watch it independently, comparing it to most other crap on TV...its not that bad.
1/16/2013 9:32:38 AM
it's definitely better than a lot of shit that gets on TV now but that really isn't saying much.It just feels like another generic CBS sitcom now. Not offensively bad but not great either.
1/16/2013 10:33:52 AM
What the fuck are the writers doing to Ted!? First he's baby crazy and now he's obsessed with planning Robin's wedding? How much fucking gayer can he get?I'm starting to believe that when we do meet Ted's future "wife" he/she/it will, in fact, have a penis.
1/18/2013 1:42:41 PM
don't forget the red boots
1/18/2013 3:26:52 PM
Last two episodes have been better.the Ted and Barney's sister thing was kinda dumb.
1/29/2013 11:46:11 PM
Thought the focus on Ted planning the wedding for Robin was because he was going with the wedding he had planned for he and Robin?
1/30/2013 8:05:41 AM
any reason why there wasn't a new episode 2 days ago?
1/30/2013 8:41:16 AM
Yeah the thing with Barney's sister was stupid. Convenient how she had never even been mentioned until this episode.
1/30/2013 9:34:14 AM
Barney's sister has definitely been mentioned before. I think it was mentioned in the episode where Barney has dinner with his father, step mother, and half-brother.It was theory crafted long ago that she was the mother. This would conveniently explain "Uncle Barney" and "Aunt Robin", though not "Uncle Marshall" and "Aunt Lily". I always assumed the aunt and uncle terms were more in terms of being a respected-family friend....probably not the mother based on that episode, though.[Edited on January 30, 2013 at 10:23 AM. http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/whats-alan-watching/posts/how-i-met-your-mother-officially-renewed-for-9th-and-final-seasonThe 9th season will be the final one. Praise the baby Jebus.
1/30/2013 3:54:17 PM
Good! I hope that this sit and spin act they've been doing for a while now can get some traction and propel the show to the end. Then, much like The Office and 30 Rock finishing strong, maybe we can get some good shit out of the last season. One can only hope. Additionally as stated in the comments of that reticle, the age thing with the kids in 2030 starts to get really fucked if they don't start wrapping up soon.
1/30/2013 5:00:12 PM
Leads me to believe they will reveal who she is at the end of this season and then all next season is a summary of all their events till present day.Would be a good save...reveal who the mother is on the final episode.
1/30/2013 5:17:08 PM
Christ, I thought this was the last season. I stopped watching this show about 4 years ago, which is when they should have wrapped this shit up.

ha i'll admit, i enjoyed all the canadian celebs.
2/4/2013 9:15:06 PM
lol at Dave Coulier
2/4/2013 9:16:07 PM
My dvr fucked up and didn't record. Guess I'll watch it online tomorrow.
2/4/2013 9:26:01 PM
Good episode - didn't try to push the agenda. Pretty funny I thought. The only part I wasn't a fan of was the mother comments, they had me until the mother aside at the end
2/5/2013 6:31:07 PM
that stalker bitch was fugly, tho
2/5/2013 7:47:22 PM
Barney slipping into his Canadian accent never gets old.As soon as Dave Couilier showed up you just knew there was going to be a Full House reference. Couilier nailed it, Bob Saggat's follow up was meh.
2/6/2013 2:43:49 PM
I heard a bit on NPR the other day about a lifetime remake of the book Sudden Fury, starring Neil Patrick Harris of Doogie Howser and How I Met Your Mother and Johnny Galecki of Roseanne and Big Bang Theory.
2/6/2013 2:57:18 PM
This was easily the best episode of HIMYM in a couple of seasons.
2/6/2013 5:54:17 PM
Agree. Robin Sparkles always makes an episode so much better.
2/6/2013 9:01:44 PM
Are we supposed to pretend that Robin's dad didn't raise her as a hockey-playing tomboy everytime we see her being a teen pop sensation?
2/8/2013 5:19:06 PM
were you the same person at 18 you were at 13?
2/8/2013 8:27:05 PM
Solid episode last night. I lolled quite a bit when it revealed that the old woman was actually Mike Tyson.
2/12/2013 9:16:17 AM
unfortunately they are keeping ted with that stalker bitch, which will pretty much ruin this whole season.
2/12/2013 3:01:03 PM
^I'll disagree. The season has finally started to pick up, and the stalker chick couldn't possibly be worse than the first half or middle of the season. I actually think she'll add back in some of what the series has been recently lacking. Specifically, the void that was left when Barney started actually dating. She won't be around for much longer anyways.
2/12/2013 4:14:57 PM
Yea, I guess it has upgraded from unwatchable to watchable. I mean Ted going in there with Boba Fett armor was pretty funny to me.
2/12/2013 4:59:38 PM
Jeanette is Chris Elliott's daughter. I loled with Tyson as well
2/13/2013 2:07:30 PM
i really appreciated the always sunny in philidelphia shout out
2/14/2013 9:43:03 AM
high fiving the tray was good
2/18/2013 8:11:38 PM
An absolutely worthless episode.
2/19/2013 2:39:26 AM
Barney arguing with himself was an entertaining 10 seconds
2/19/2013 2:53:51 AM
This show was getting pretty bad but now it's evened out to where it's not awful but not anywhere near as funny as it used to be. Compared to how bad The Office has been lately, I guess being "watchable" is good enough for a show this late in its run. That being said, if my wife wasn't such a huge fan of the show, I'd probably give up on it and just wait for the end to see who the mother was.
2/19/2013 9:47:40 AM
I liked that they did the multiple-perspectives-of-the-story gag, but the story was just way too long to see it 3 times.
2/19/2013 9:59:00 AM
yeaaa got old the last couple of times through.
2/19/2013 11:44:57 AM
They already did this whole Lily trying to salvage her art dreams. Why bring it back now? At least Marshall and Ted both had clear struggles before their job changes but this really came out of nowhere since it hasn't been mentioned since season 2.
2/19/2013 6:47:17 PM
man what a great episodemade me remember why I started liking this show in the first place
2/25/2013 8:27:06 PM
Yep. That was great.
2/25/2013 9:32:31 PM
Not bad. And lol at the falling skittles during the moment of silence
2/25/2013 9:34:12 PM
haha i lol'd at that
2/25/2013 11:09:01 PM
it was good.
2/25/2013 11:19:35 PM
i think we all just think it was good because the jeanette storyline is over
2/26/2013 12:07:52 AM
The Jeanette storyline felt very much like classic HIMYM to me. I'm glad, though, that they ended that relationship fairly quickly and didn't beat a dead horse. Maybe they could have cut her character down to 2 episodes instead of 3.The only problem I saw with her was you knew she wouldn't be the mother. Then again, that has been the case for all women Ted has dated for the last 3 seasons.
2/26/2013 10:42:40 AM
funny Barney/Marshall plots = a funny HIMYMthe rest, including the identity of the mother, is completely secondary to me
2/26/2013 11:37:34 AM
good episode. They finally got back to the classic storyline.Marshall being awkward. The playbook.Ted having girl troubles.and they got rid of that girl AND the boots.that was like a spring cleaning of how i met your mother.
2/26/2013 1:50:12 PM
lol I kinda liked how the boots kept popping up now and then, but I think that seeing them burn shows that the show is on the way out.We still have one slap left in the slap bet right? Maybe they'll save it for the last episode.
2/27/2013 8:59:26 AM
There is still a full season to go in the show[Edited on February 27, 2013 at 9:24 AM. Reason : but i guess you could have meant the last episode of next season]
2/27/2013 9:23:19 AM
^Yeah that's what I meant. Like maybe it will show the crew with old makeup on or something 20 years after the events of the whole story and Marshall will deliver the final slap to Barney. I think the slap bet is probably the most popular of their ongoing jokes.
