This is the second time Aaron Sorkin has completely messed up writing in reference to hurricanes.

The Daily quotes a source close to the HBO series, stating that Sorkin and Corrine Kinsbury are all that remains of a writers’ room whose contributions, given the patterns of Sorkin’s past TV work, were most likely heavily reworked by the Moneyball scribe himself."

That's pretty good

This line made me cringe last week. I like the show and the overall message of outside influence in news media, but after hearing that line I was taken aback.

I'm still watching the show albeit with less engagement. I wonder if the above quote had anything to do with the recent writer firings....

I stopped watching this show a few weeks ago. Chances are I won't be catching up and I'll just delete the episodes from my DVR.

Well you know Will and the annoying brunette are going to hook up. And Jim and the annoying blonde are going to hook up. If the blondes boyfriend is smart he'd go after Munn.

Just saw the most recent episode. Liked it, neat.

But oh my god I have never cared less about any fictional characters than I do about Maggie and Jim.

And while the first few episodes came off as justifiable outrage, a few of the cast have devolved into overacting (Don more than anyone).

I like this show overall.

Don is a douchebag and I'd be glad if he died.

Maggie & Jim's relationship issues are retarded.

Why do the characters have to speak as if they are on Gilmore Girls? I mean, actual witty retort requires the 1st person to finish their sentence before the next person jumps in. Most actual humans don't talk in this manner.

^ Agreed, the romantic subplots are useless.

Make it a 30 minute show and stick to what it does well, would be great. In the midst of all the outstanding commentary, there are always 15 WTF minutes.

The dialogue in the non-romantic parts is fairly bad, too. Every character has very feminine speech patterns.

The main cast of 15 or so characters only account for 2-3 distinct personalities.

youll find very few that agree, i think shes hot and shes not annoying IMO. I like her

i cant seem to find it all of a sudden, but im pretty sure i saw someone make a Jim Halpert reference about the Maggie relationship situation...LOL i agree. If they keep pushing this it will kill the show like it did the Office

That might be is the worst story line ever. Slightly beating out the Bigfoot mention in an earlier episode.

I wish will would grudge fuck mackinzie then throw her off the 25th story balcony. The blonde and Sandeep witness this and Will throws them over the balcony.

Its funny to see people talk about how bad this show is and then, in reality, post happily about the other crap on tv in this same section.

The show isn't great, but is it good and reasonably better than most things on television, absolutely.
The dialogue, for what its worth, is pretty good if you follow along with the quick quips and pay attention to all the subtext in the character's conversation and facial expression. Realistically, I know this is all scripted and no where in real life would people speak in this way but the show is fiction, after all, and I respect the way that is done.

As for the character development, yes, it could use some work. But from where I sit, they are starting to do a pretty good job about it. We're learning a lot more about Will, McKenzie is calming the fuck down, Maggie and Jim are developing, etc... Now, some may be concerned with the romantic subtext in the show. But tell me the last time you watched a movie or series in which there wasn't some sort of romantic subtext? While I do agree that such plot devices can be incredibly annoying, its about how the relationships are formed and delivered that make it good or bad. For me, the struggle that these characters are going through emotionally does it. e.g. people liked the offices when Jim pined for Pam because she had a shitty boyfriend but ever since no one gives a shit. With that said I find the struggles here more palatable and sincere.

No amount of subtext will make dialogue like "I can't say for sure, but yeah, I can say for sure" passable, much less pretty good.

Kinda.

The original Law and Order took the approach of telling you little to nothing about the main characters' lives. It was a drama solely about the work/case.

This show really could use that approach. I care absolutely nothing about any of these romantic and personal subplots.

Give each person a quirk, sure: Will's a jerk, Charlie drinks, Sloan is socially inept, but leave it at that. I am only interested in the core purpose of this show ("mission for civility").

Then I realized she'd already totally flashed her business on film so it's not like everybody couldn't already see it.

lol, I remember that from 30 Rock and at the time didn't realize it wasn't a real thing. whatever she still is one of my least favorite things about the show.

I finally caught up and finished out the season last night and have to say I really feel like the show took more of a liberal slant the last few episodes.

I really don't feel like it was ever liberal. Just anti fucking tea party and fundamentalist. But I guess today's Republican party makes the word liberal that much more of a broadening term.
