I stopped watching this show a few weeks ago. Chances are I won't be catching up and I'll just delete the episodes from my DVR.
7/25/2012 11:58:46 AM
I've enjoyed the first 2 episodes but the last few posts have me worried...
7/26/2012 10:37:27 PM
i enjoy the show

Maybe they should hire a bunch of 17 year old redditors.

Good episode, especially after last week's.

Leave out the scenes with the blonde and Mackenzie and the show is 100% better
8/1/2012 9:12:22 PM
Not to mention Olivia Munn speaking japanese was fucking hot.
8/2/2012 12:02:34 AM
so where is this show going?
8/5/2012 4:58:40 PM
Well you know Will and the annoying brunette are going to hook up. And Jim and the annoying blonde are going to hook up. If the blondes boyfriend is smart he'd go after Munn.
8/5/2012 7:47:30 PM
I don't care where it's going. I sure do enjoy it though.

Just saw the most recent episode. Liked it, neat. But oh my god I have never cared less about any fictional characters than I do about Maggie and Jim.And while the first few episodes came off as justifiable outrage, a few of the cast have devolved into overacting (Don more than anyone).
8/8/2012 7:47:59 PM
I like this show overall.Don is a douchebag and I'd be glad if he died.Maggie & Jim's relationship issues are retarded. Why do the characters have to speak as if they are on Gilmore Girls? I mean, actual witty retort requires the 1st person to finish their sentence before the next person jumps in. Most actual humans don't talk in this manner.
8/8/2012 7:53:49 PM
Good episode tonight.

True Blood and Newsroom have to make up the worst Sunday night lineup HBO has ever done. just really bad shows.
8/20/2012 12:59:01 PM
Sloan Sabbath and Neal Sampat are going to get....it.....on! before seasons end.
8/20/2012 1:58:53 PM
No, they aren't.

The writing is god awful.Or maybe it's the bad acting. [Edited on August 20, 2012 at 8:20 PM. Reason : .]

^ Agreed, the romantic subplots are useless.Make it a 30 minute show and stick to what it does well, would be great. In the midst of all the outstanding commentary, there are always 15 WTF minutes.
8/20/2012 9:21:57 PM
The dialogue in the non-romantic parts is fairly bad, too. Every character has very feminine speech patterns. The main cast of 15 or so characters only account for 2-3 distinct personalities.
8/20/2012 9:41:35 PM
true blood isn't really a show, it's softcore pr0n

the troll storyline is fucking embarrassing to watch[Edited on August 22, 2012 at 2:17 AM. Reason : .]

That might be is the worst story line ever. Slightly beating out the Bigfoot mention in an earlier episode. I wish will would grudge fuck mackinzie then throw her off the 25th story balcony. The blonde and Sandeep witness this and Will throws them over the balcony.

Its funny to see people talk about how bad this show is and then, in reality, post happily about the other crap on tv in this same section. The show isn't great, but is it good and reasonably better than most things on television, absolutely. The dialogue, for what its worth, is pretty good if you follow along with the quick quips and pay attention to all the subtext in the character's conversation and facial expression. Realistically, I know this is all scripted and no where in real life would people speak in this way but the show is fiction, after all, and I respect the way that is done.As for the character development, yes, it could use some work. But from where I sit, they are starting to do a pretty good job about it. We're learning a lot more about Will, McKenzie is calming the fuck down, Maggie and Jim are developing, etc... Now, some may be concerned with the romantic subtext in the show. But tell me the last time you watched a movie or series in which there wasn't some sort of romantic subtext? While I do agree that such plot devices can be incredibly annoying, its about how the relationships are formed and delivered that make it good or bad. For me, the struggle that these characters are going through emotionally does it. e.g. people liked the offices when Jim pined for Pam because she had a shitty boyfriend but ever since no one gives a shit. With that said I find the struggles here more palatable and sincere.

Given the evenhanded reviews you've given the show thus far, your opinion is definitely valued.

I thought this was one of if not the best episode. Was really hoping Maggie was going to get run over by that bus.

8/28/2012 9:34:14 PM
lol is maggie herself really that bad of a character?
8/28/2012 9:42:08 PM
Kinda. The original Law and Order took the approach of telling you little to nothing about the main characters' lives. It was a drama solely about the work/case.This show really could use that approach. I care absolutely nothing about any of these romantic and personal subplots.Give each person a quirk, sure: Will's a jerk, Charlie drinks, Sloan is socially inept, but leave it at that. I am only interested in the core purpose of this show ("mission for civility").

^Yeah, I was wondering how she could be so totally cool about accidentally tweeting her boobs. Then I realized she'd already totally flashed her business on film so it's not like everybody couldn't already see it.

I really don't feel like it was ever liberal. Just anti fucking tea party and fundamentalist. But I guess today's Republican party makes the word liberal that much more of a broadening term.
