actually, i would say it is more common. not because of any dwindling morality but more because of the very technologies you mentioned. with email and texting, it is easier for teens and teachers to hold private communications that can evolve into off-site meet ups and suggestive commentary. prior to such availability, approaches would have to be made in more dangerous, public settings, thus limiting the accounts.

^That is the same law I have bitched about in other threads. If you are not a person in a "Position of Authority" over the "victim" and the student is over the age of consent, then who gives a shit?

I had a coworker in IT at the school district who married a student after she graduated. He is about 12 years older than her. They did not meet because of his job and he was not in a position of authority over her. Yet technically if the relationship started before the day she walked across the stage, then he would have been a felon, even though she was over the age of consent. That is bullshit. Another guy (IT) was having a relationship with a student (similar circumstances as the first, she was a senior) but they never got married. Same thing though, if they had sex before she walked across the stage, he would have been a "rapist/pedophile/etc" simply because he worked at the school district.

I totally understand that coaches, principals, and your direct teachers should not be able to bang their students underaged. But if I worked at Wake County schools right now and went out to the club and slept with a chick I met, if she was 18 and going to another Wake County School, you could be committing a felony. This one size fits all rule is fucking stupid. This guy may still be a cheating scumbag who Moore County could have the right to fire and his wife has the right to divorce, but really a MILLION dollars bond for this crap???

Shit happened all the time. One pretty hot younger teacher banged out a guy when I was a student. Another guy that was a HS teacher and a real creep got busted for it while I was an employee. Other guy was a coach and middle school teacher and was doing it when I was a student. Never got busted, but he was still a scumbag and I never wanted to be around him. Good teacher, but still a creep.

Nikki Setzer Icard, 29, a teacher at the high school developed a relationship with an 18-year-old senior male in one of her classes, said Jones. She then sent the senior nude photos of herself.

Yea really devoutly Christian guy (parents owned a christian bookstore) a few grades ahead of me took an 8th grader to Prom his senior year. She started marching with the HS band in 8th grade and they met there and dated most of his senior year of HS. Technically he was "alright" legally as he did not turn 18 until June of his senior year and I have no clue when they broke up. But still, nobody would have been crying for him if he had been arrested on statutory rape or indecent liberties with a minor. I'm sure people would have reviled him if it was a 13-14 year old boy too.
