Look if you don't think lowry was a STAR this year before he got hurt then you are just being a complete retard.

It's too annoying to look all the stuff up on my phone but seriously this argument is beyond ridiculous. He was ranked #6 overall in fantasy basketball at one point for gods sake. Not that being ranked high in fantasy basketball is the be all end all argument, but you're acting like you've never heard of a guy who was clearly one of the best pg in the league last year.

Lol, at scola being their best player, he's finished he sucked this year

And Marvin Williams had a great season. Stop being so intentionally dense this website is void of logic sometimes . The algorithm that evaluates college to pro potential is not the same as the one that evaluates current nba players. While the one that evaluates college to pro potential does have a fair bit of estimation and error built in, there is very little error with evaluating current players.

Let's get back on topic. Philly let Lou Williams walk and replaced him with nick young because he's "bigger". That's like getting rid of your G35 for a pontiac aztek. Nick young is horrible

^^ i fully agree on the nick young vs. lou williams assessment. williams is a much better overall player

as someone who lives in atlanta and actually watched a ton of hawks games this past season, however, i really have no clue where you came up with idea that marvin williams had a "breakout season". if anyone in the NBA has hit their ceiling, it's this guy. Here's how his last 3 seasons have played out ('12,'11, '10)

ppg: 10.2, 10.4, 10.1
rpg: 5.1, 4.8, 5.1
apg: 1.2, 1.4, 1.1
mpg: 26.3, 28.7, 30.5
shooting efficieny: .494, .493, .485
steals pg: 0.8, 0.5, 0.8

i mean, i guess you could argue he put up nearly identical mediocre scoring averages the past 3 years, with his minutes slightly declining each year. so maybe that's good? but there was no meaningful improvement in his shooting or scoring efficiencies in the process.

And actually, now that i look at it, wow, i would be interested to see if any other player in the NBA can claim to have 3 consecutive seasons with performance as identical as marvin has had. He is clearly able to put in a good 10-5-1 on a regular basis as a starter. the consistency with which he is mediorcre is rather impressive!

All kidding aside, I will say that in general I like face's commentary. He def puts a lot of thought and time into his posts, and calls out some things I wouldn't notice as a casual observer of many NBA teams.

^ come on man, you know you love it!

At first I thought face was nuts when I would read his NBA stuff, but now I love it. Dude knows his NBA and certainly knows it 100X better than I. I like watching how his predictions pan out. I am going to be disappointed if Jae Crowder is not a regular rotation player next year.

This is ridiculous, at one point during the season he was playing pretty well (apparently 6th in your fantasy league well), but over the course of his season and the overall NBA season his results just don't seem to add up to your argument? How could this be? He has to be a star right? I mean, only stars have good stretches of games where they play above their consistent level right? Only stars average double digit points and >2 assists!

Lowry is 100x the star Marvin Williams is

Marvin Williams is like Lebron James late in the 4th quarter of the playoffs before this season

minus all the other stuff Lebron would do in the first 3.5 quarters of the game

thats why I think Harrison Barnes is just Marvin Williams 2.0

stand in the corner and settle for jumpshots

Look at his fucking stats. He's one of the top rebounders and steal getters in the nba. He's an awesome 3pt shooter too. I can't believe we are even having this discussion. Watch how awful Houston is going to be without lowry/dragic . Losing dalembert and budinger won't help either but they still have camby and parsons to mitigate those losses.

Jemery Lin asks Knicks to match the offer from Houston. 4yrs for 30m, that's bigger than Yao's offer.

Isn't arguing about individual stats hardcore more suited for baseball rather than basketball? Because I thought that it was easier to measure how effective an individual baseball player is than a bball player/

Wow a trade that makes a lot of sense for both teams, what a rarity.

New Orleans gets a great PF to play beside Davis with Ryan Anderson. Orlando gets a top young center to replace Howard with gustavo ayon.

Anderson won't get as many open looks without dwight but its still a good fit to pair him in the frontcourt with a dominant defender.

Orlando has been stockpiling some good young talent this offseason, now they just need to get a good deal for dwight and move away from these crap deals involving Sucke Lopez.

Rashard Lewis to the Heat for veteran minimum? Crazy considering how overpaid he was up until last year

Apparently the Hornets are still paying him like 13.7 million this year.

The heat are one of the few teams he may be able to contribute on since he will get wide open looks. They should really concentrate on getting a big man/rebounder though. Ben Wallace is still productive, he'd be a great addition.

I kinda hope Howard to the lakers, bynum to the rockets, draft picks to the magic goes thru. I don't like the lakers but at least that's a semi fair trade, unlike this brook lopez for Howard garbage.

I think the Lakers are the favorites as of right now.

Nash is just so good. There's even a chance he could get Kobe back to being effective. At the very least though he will keep Kobe from doing as much damage since he will take the ball out of his hands.

I think if Kobe's possesions are limited to a few drives a game and taking legitimate shots instead of bad ones he could actually get back to being an effective scorer .

I have a feeling Gasol will go back to being a star too now that the trade rumors are gone and he's playing with a guy willing to pass the ball. Even bynum might buy in.

If they get Howard though and he's healthy its all over. The Heat simply can't match up against big men and I don't think you can trust wades body to hold up or bosh to find his game.

Unimpressed by the Lewis signing. Loved him in his Seattle/Orlando days...but I think he's pretty much washed up. He'll give them a boost if he can get a little bit of his old form back and stay injury free, but I think that's a decent sized "if".

I fucking hate that I'm going to have to cheer for the Lakers now. I really want Nash to get a ring though. I think he's improves them tenfold. They haven't had an average point guard in forever (does Ron Harper count?). Bynum and Gasol get easy buckets despite having inept pgs like Blake/Sessions/insert shitty for the past few years. Not only will his brilliant passing open the floor up, but his dead-eye shooting. And their size will create big problems for the Heat...especially if they keep signing duds like Lewis. He can't guard Gasol/Bynum.

Yeah, the Heat really need to go after some post players in free agency or through some trades, not sign another guy who can chuck up 3s. I wouldn't feel safe next year with a full season of soft ass Bosh & the rest of the scrubs like Haslem, Anthony, etc. down low.

^^ 37 year old Ron Harper with hot knees and a bad back does not count

I'll give them early '00s Derek Fisher as quality because he was great for what the Lakers needed out of a PG, but at no point in his life was Fisher better than Steve Nash

Early 2000s fisher was good. Actually, Gary payton was good his season too, the team just fizzled because of the Malone injury.

Sessions was spectacular during the reg season for the lakers but he flopped in the playoffs.

Steve Nash may be the greatest shooter in nba history and he can still drive and dish. His defense won't hurt them too bad because the lakers are loaded with bigs and Kobe/artest can still defend well.

only player to go 40/50/90 in NBA history, if i recall correctly

(40%+ from behind the 3 point line, 50%+ from the field, 90%+ from the free throw line)

We usually judge a good shooter based on 3 points percentage, right? So Reggie Miller and Ray Allen in my mind are great shooters.
I only know Nash is a play-maker, dunno he's a shooter too.

nash is one of the best shooters of all time. It's overlooked because of his playmaking. Imagine what his percentages would look like if he wasn't taking so many shots at the end of the shot clock or threes off the dribble. If he just played a "shooter's role"

Looks like Batum to T-wolves w/ 2 1st rounders going to Portland. Also, as part of the trade, apparently Kyle Korver is getting dealt to Portland for a T-wolves 2nd rounder. Guess the Bulls (Jerry Reinsdorf) are salary dumping to stay under the cap or possibly take up the offer sheet on Asik's awful contract he signed with the Rockets. Coupled with the Hinrich signing & rumors of getting Redd, this team has completely mailed it in for next year.

wow twolves are going to be stacked this next season.

backcourt: rubio, jj barea, ridnour, brandon roy, martell webster
frontcourt: batum, wesley johnson, kevin love, derrick williams, with pekovic and a bunch of other euro big men at the 5

seems like they should definitely make the playoffs this year for the first time since 04

Chase budigner and Greg stiemsma.

I think they are losing Webster though.

Roy is a total wildcard as he stunk his last year but maybe the platelet thing will work for him

See this is where you go wrong. Steimsma is an ok deep bench guy. Not a big acquisition. He took 2 shots a game and made one a game. How on earth can you claim a guy who was efficient in incredibly small sample sizes would do the same in larger ones? He's a throwaway bit player. That's it.

^ Stiemsma is a valuable player, deserves to be in the 8-10 man rotation. his worth is on the defense end, not the offensive side of the ball. dude averaged probably over 1.5 blocks/gm playing less than 20 min for the Cs. also hes a decent rebounder (not great)
