so we're 5pt dogs, huh? Can't help but feel like we are going to win by 10 or lose by 10 here. Our FG% the last 6 games is much improved - but look at the teams we played. None of them are like FSU or Gtown where they control clock for each possession and try to screw with our scoring in half court set...

Rewatching our latest games - we've been making all those layups and 10-12 ft jumpers that we missed during the February slump. Gotta keep up the FG% or we're toast vs. Gtown.

He figured Belmont’s shooters would be able to shoot Georgetown out of the zone, but the Bruins didn’t have any success with that even as they hit 10 3-pointers. A lot of that has to do with Georgetown’s size. The Hoyas start three players 6-8 or taller – center Henry Sims leads the team in assists – and bring 6-8 Otto Porter and 6-8 Greg Whittington off the bench. “We’ve got good shooters, and I just didn’t predict that we’d face zone or we’d do as poorly as we did,” Byrd said. “But it’s a great one. They’re well taught, and they’ve got great athletes. If Syracuse is better than that, I’m glad we didn’t play Syracuse.” N.C. State did play Syracuse, and the Wolfpack saw that kind of length in the ACC as well. North Carolina and Florida State come to mind, and N.C. State went 0-5 against Syracuse and those two. In those five games, Wood was 7-29 from 3-point range – a substantial decrease in his percentage, shots made and shots attempted from N.C. State’s other 30 games. North Carolina was the only man-to-man team that dared to play zone against N.C. State this season, and got away with it because it had the size, in Harrison Barnes and Reggie Bullock, to get a hand in Wood’s face. Georgetown has that kind of size. “We’re versatile,” Georgetown coach John Thompson III said. “We’re long. A lot of times, people just look at heights and associate that with having length and being versatile. We have several guys that are 6-8, 6-9, that can guard guards, guard little guys, guard medium guys, guard big guys. And they’re willing to do it.” Against that kind of opponent, N.C. State is going to have to find different ways to score. Howell and Leslie won’t have the same freedom they had inside against the Aztecs, and Georgetown presents the kind of perimeter-defense challenge that may make it tough for Wood to get open looks. Whether he can get them – and knock them down – may determine if N.C. State’s season stays alive or gets put on ice for good."
