Good point, but Greg Olsen makes up for it. Just don't pull another classic Hurney move and trade away future picks.

Tannehill is out of the discussion because drafting him wouldn't elate any fanbase
1/20/2012 12:18:06 PM
If Washington cant draft RGIII, then I can see trying to trae for Manning, but I believe their best bet is to build for the future and a get a QB who has a Neck that is fully functional. RGIII will bring immediate excitement. III
1/20/2012 6:42:36 PM
It has to be RGIII or Manning. A very very very slim possibility the Jets move Sanchez? But I really hope its not.Who is to say the Colts dont trade the 1st pick though? They could get A LOT for the Andrew Luck pick? Redskins are notorious for not having a lot of draft picks.
1/20/2012 6:51:20 PM
It's not manning or Sanchez. It's either RG3, Luck or Matt Flynn. The redskins fans would light Dan Synder on fire and piss on his corpse if it's Sanchez. [Edited on January 20, 2012 at 7:08 PM. Reason : .]

hows Manning gonna be their QB when he's coaching for Indianapolis?
1/20/2012 7:18:33 PM
oh yea, forgot about Flynn. good possibility as well.
1/20/2012 8:18:12 PM
I bet Flynn follows Philbin to Miami. And as a Browns fan, I really really really hope they get RGIII. then arguably the two most exciting QbS in the league will be playing for my two favorite teams - Cam and RGIII

In his defense, I was a Redskins fan prior to 1995. I am still a Redskins fan 1st and foremost, but I do pull for the Carolina Panthers when they are not playing the Redskins. Just saying, its possible for you to like two teams in the Carolinas.

You can like two teams, as long as one of them isn't very good. This is a general rule for all sports.

So as long as you like the Panthers, any other team is fair game

ok time to do our first user mock.I've selected Slave Famous, DROD900, and Steven as our first round of mock drafters. If any of these 3 don't want to do it, i'll choose someone else.I will select a different set of drafters for the 2nd tww mock in late Feb.I'll see if we can get this done within the next couple of days
1/29/2012 1:38:57 AM
Seeing a few mock drafts that have the Panthers taking LSU DT Michael Brockers. I know we need a DT, but this guy might be a bit of a reach. Honestly, I watched LSU a few times and heard his name, but he never really stood out to me. Also, with Dre Kirkpatrick testing positive for weed, no way he's a panther. I'm fine with that though. Always thought he was overrated because of his freakish CB size.
1/29/2012 3:16:13 AM
I think Brockers is all about up-side. He was only a RS-Soph so he is still young with plenty of potential. I still think we consider taking Kirkpatrick. He has the size to compliment Gamble and give us 2 strong CBs.I'm still under the false-hope that we take an OT in the first round and pick up Reggie Wayne off of FA, but his asking price might be too high for us.
1/29/2012 8:17:21 AM
The only way Carolina signs a big name FA is if they cut Williams. That was such an atrocious contract
1/29/2012 8:59:38 AM
USER MOCK1. With the first selection of the 2012 draft the Indy Colts select Andrew Luck, QB Stanford University. He's the heir apparent to possibly the best QB who ever played and is the only person I can remember who is the consensus first overall pick two years in a row. He's pretty much as close to a sure thing, future hall of famer as we've seen coming out of college. DROD9002. Rams take Matt Kalil, OT from USC. this pick could be traded to redskins, browns or someone else looking to land RGIII, but no matter where the Rams end up they'll likely try to bolster their oline and Kalil is the best one in the draft. DROD9003. Vikings take Justin Blackmon, WR from Oklahoma State. If someone trades up for RGIII then Kalil may end up here, but since he's gone, Blackmon will be the big WR target Ponder needs. DROD9004. Browns take Robert Griffin III, QB from Baylor. The Colt McCoy project has run its course and it's time for the Browns to find someone else to build their offense around. Holmgren and Shurmur will likely be putting their jobs on the line in the hopes that Griffin pans out, but the browns need to sell some tickets and change the culture in Cleveland. There's a chance that they decide to stick with McCoy and take Trent Richardson or Justin Blackmon (if he's still on the board) but my money goes to RGIII. DROD9005. With the, uh, 5th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select...Morris Claiborne, Cornerback, LSU. In a division that features three good quarterbacks, they'll need all the help they can get defending the pass. Ronde Barber is 45 years old, and they need someone who can defend Roddy White, Jimmy Graham and Brandon LaFell for the next decade. Slave Famous6. With the, uh, 6th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the Washington Redskins select...Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa. They want a quarterback, they need a quarterback, but Matt Barkley screwed them over. Their best case may be Manning or Flynn in free agency. This pick gives them someone to protect whoever ends up behind center. Not the most dominating guy at the point of attack, Reiff is more in the Jordan Gross mold as a technical blocker, and he should help revitalize a line that has been largely average of late. Slave Famous7. With the, uh, 7th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select...Quinton Coples, DE/DT, UNC. They have no pass rush to speak of; Aaron Kampman is their only legit threat and he's always hurt. They really need to get more weapons for Gabbert, but there's really no receiver other than Blackmon worthy of going this high. Coples dominated at the senior bowl and will be a solid bet for double digit sacks right away. Slave Famous8. With the, uh, 8th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the Carolina Panthers select...Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama. So he likes to smoke weed. So do I. The fact remains that he is one of the biggest corners in recent memory, and much like Tampa's selection of Claiborne, will help Carolina shut down the lethal passing games in the NFC South. You really need three starting corners in today's game, and Captain Munnerlyn should never start again in his life. Slave Famous9. The Miami Dolphins select Jonathan Martin, OT Stanford. If this scenario unfolds, I’d bet one month’s salary that someone trades up for Richardson here. But since we’re not doing trades, the Dolphins add another great tackle to solidify their OL. With Martin and Jake Long the Fins will have a top tier OT pair. I don't see them going after a QB early, although CB or DE could be a possibility. BoobsR_gr810. The Buffalo Bills select Courtney Upshaw, OLB Alabama. Upshaw is the best LB in the draft and has the tools to be a great NFL pass rusher. The Bills have no pass rush whatsoever; it was so bad they signed Merriman expecting him to actually play a full season. BoobsR_gr811. The Kansas City Chiefs select David DeCastro, G, Stanford. The Chiefs are heartbroken that all 3 of the top tackles are gone, but still DeCastro is an upgrade on one of the worst offensive lines in the league. With molasses Cassel entrenched at QB, they need to be able to pass block a lot better than they did last season. BoobsR_gr812. The Seattle Seahawks select Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama. He is the top player on the board and probably has been since pick #5, so this is a great value for the Seahawks. They have a decision to make whether to spend a bunch of money to retain M. Lynch so with this pick they can let him walk and address the OL and the defense with the money they saved by not signing Lynch to a long term contract. BoobsR_gr813. The Arizona Cardinals select Mike Adams, OT, THE Ohio State University. Kevin Kolb and John Skelton took way too many hits last year and Levi Brown needs to be replaced. Adams might be going a little high here, but with the top 2-3 o-linemen already off the board, they can’t afford to wait til the next round to fill this need. The Cardinals could also look for a playmaking WR like Baylor's Kendall Wright. DROD90014. The Dallas Cowboys select Michael Brockers, DT, LSU. The Cowboys really were hoping that Dre Kirkpatrick would fall to them at this pick since they need help in the secondary. But I think the overall upside of Brockers makes him a better choice here than Janoris Jenkins at CB or Melvin Ingram at OLB. DROD90015. The Philadelphia Eagles select Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College. This seems like a bit of a no-brainer pick since the Eagles need help at middle linebacker, and Kuechly is the high motor guy Philly needs in the middle of their defense. DROD900
2/7/2012 10:01:06 PM
16. The New York Jets select Mark Barron, S, Alabama. Barron is the top Safety in this draft by a longshot, and this pick will solidify the Jets secondary for many years. I could see them going with Melvin Ingram or Zach Brown here, but I think the upside of Barron wins out. DROD90017. With the, uh, 17th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, The Cincinnati Bengals select... Alfonso Denard, Cornerback, Nebraska. They lost Jonathan Joseph to Houston and never really recovered. With the core of their offense seemingly in place for the foreseeable future, they go with Denard, a physical corner who will do well in the rugged AFC North, matching up against the likes of Boldin and Brown. Slave Famous18. With the, uh, 18th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the San Diego Chargers select... Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB, South Carolina. Their offense is top 5 IMO. Consistency is another issue, but talent wise, they have the pieces in place to put up 30 every week. The problem lies with their pass rush. Ever since Merriman came back to earth, it has been lacking. Ingram gives them a guy who can line up with his hand in the dirt or standing up; he can even shift to D-Tackle on passing downs. This pick will help the Chargers in a very winnable AFC West. Slave Famous19. With the, uh, 19th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the Chicago Bears select... Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame. They need receivers in the worst way. Everyone they have at the position is under 6 feet. Floyd gives them a reliable red zone option as well as a superior blocker down the field for Forte. He had some legal issues in school, but they're willing to overlook those to grab the local product over other options like Alshon Jeffery and Kendall Wright. Slave Famous20. With the, uh, 20th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans select... Devon Still, DT, Penn State. Not the sexiest pick here, but the incumbent combo of Jurrell Casey and Sen'Derrick Marks weren't blowing anyone away. Still gives them a solid presence who can both rush the passer and be a force against the run. They could use another WR here as well, but with Britt returning and Hasselbeck not yet ready to hand the reins over to Locker, they focus on defense instead. Slave Famous21. The Cincinnati Bengals select Lamar Miller, RB Miami With the CB position being shored up earlier, the Bengals rightly address the RB position by selecting Miller who should establish himself as the 2nd best RB in the draft after the combines. Has anyone seen Cedric Benson’s stat line the past 2 years? Ugh. He has only averaged over 4 yds/carry once in the past 5 years. Why is he still a starting RB? He can’t catch the ball and is suspect in pass protection. He is also a FA this year, so there is no better time for the cord to be cut. BoobsR_gr822. The Cleveland Browns select Kendall Wright, WR Baylor. Outside of Jacksonville, there is no team that needs a playmaking WR more. This would be a great get for the Browns if they select RGIII who already has great chemistry with Wright. Little, Massaquoi, and Norwood won’t cut it. If you invest the high pick in RGIII you need to invest in a potential #1 WR as well. BoobsR_gr823. The Detroit Lions select Cordy Glenn, G/T Georgia. With Jeff Backus gladly off the books this year, the fans will celebrate the coming of a new LT. In the senior bowl, Glenn showed the ability to play G as well as T and played the best game of any OL (as graded by scouts). If Detroit can keep Stafford upright, 10 wins a year is a base. BoobsR_gr824. The Pittsburgh Steelers select Vontaze Burfict, ILB Arizona State. James Farrior is 37. Burfict will be the next great Steeler LB, as he's perfect playing ILB in the Steelers' 3-4. Another option could be Dontari Poe as Casey Hampton is getting up there in age as well. BoobsR_gr825. The Denver Broncos select Ryan Tannehill, QB Texas A&M. Here is the insurance policy should Tebow fall apart. They could also go with Fletcher Cox with this pick if they really are all-in with Tebow or think they could get another good QB in the 2nd/3rd round. DROD90026. The Houston Texans select Alshon Jeffery, WR South Carolina. The Texans need another playmaking WR to line up alongside Andre Johnson - Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones aren’t cutting it. The Texans are pretty solid everywhere else so going after a playmaker makes sense. DROD90027. The New England Patriots select Whitney Mercilus, DE/OLB Illinois. Mercilus has the prototypical LB size that Belichick goes after, plus he has the versatility to play in the 4-3 or 3-4 defense. DROD90028. The Green Bay Packers select Nick Perry, DE/OLB USC. The Packers need another solid LB to line up alongside Clay Mathews, so why not go get another USC product who fills this need. DROD90029. With the, uh, 29th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, The Baltimore Ravens select...Donta Hightower, LB, Alabama. Ray Lewis can't play forever. Slave Famous30. With the, uh, 30th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the San Francisco 49ers select...Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers. They have Vernon Davis and the retard crew. They need a vertical threat. Slave Famous31. With the, uh, 31st pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the New England Patriots select...Janoris Jenkings, CB, Northern Alabama. They couldn't stop anyone all year. The first of many picks in the defensive secondary. Slave Famous32. With the, uh, 31st pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the New York Giants select...Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford. After seeing the league get smoked by Gronk and Hernandez, they take the best TE on the board. Slave Famous
