11/5/2011 5:23:31 PM
tyler harris is looking pretty smooth and athletic for a bigger guy, but he is a damn black hole. he shoots every time the ball comes to him.
11/5/2011 5:31:29 PM
those fucking mellophones are killing me
11/5/2011 5:32:31 PM

11/5/2011 5:44:01 PM
So since i cant get the stream, what is the overall feel from the game?
11/5/2011 5:44:31 PM
but leslie is still making dumb decisions
11/5/2011 5:45:20 PM
Do we like like we can have a winning ACC record?
11/5/2011 5:46:51 PM
who knows...looking like it could go either way. honestly i think we wont have a problem scoring more than last year but i don't think we've worked on defense so much thus far
11/5/2011 5:48:08 PM
we're looking pretty good overalltough to tell much from an interteam scrimmage thoughexhibition game on Monday vs. Flagler should give better insightfree admission with canned good donation! (min. 3)
11/5/2011 5:48:12 PM
Offensively we have guys that look like they can work as a solid unit. Depending on the defense we should have a winning ACC record.
11/5/2011 5:48:29 PM
that Thomas de Thaey kid was draining some shots too
11/5/2011 5:55:07 PM
I think the best indicator will be defense, not offense. Defense generates the easiest scores. Need Duke-like intensity on defense
11/5/2011 6:13:08 PM
The band if often drunk.Just sayin'.
11/5/2011 6:30:46 PM
Did the fans start a chant for Jefferson?
11/5/2011 6:35:11 PM
indeed they did. he was sitting between and chatting with yow and purvis the whole scrimmage.
11/5/2011 6:53:08 PM
That's great news. Hope we get him, that will probably be a #1 class for sure if so.
11/5/2011 7:33:01 PM
Arizona's would still be better.Between Yow and Purvis? That's an odd combination.

I saw a team at the red and white game that wasn't running sets, they were playing opportunistic basketball. It let them do what they wanted with the ball, and it let them take shots that they're comfortable with. I felt like some of the guys on the team were being a little selfish with the ball.I was disappointed in our offensive rebounding. The Wolfpacker talked about them doing rebounding drills all the time, and even some of their drills before the game included them going in and getting into defensive positions even if the ball was going in. Once the game started, they stopped doing that. And I saw a team that was playing some serious tenacious Defense in there. It was good to watch, except for the part where Painter abused CJ Leslie with the turnaround jumper, and he couldn't do shit about it.And I like that our guys cherry picked like assholes when the defense didn't get back to play fast enough. There had to be six or seven times when they just threw the ball behind the defense for an easy two. Running like they were doing should open up a few of those during the season, too.

You don't want to kill each other or tear a ligament going after an offensive board in a practice.
11/5/2011 10:42:59 PM
by that logic, why would you go after a defensive rebound in practice?
11/5/2011 10:47:01 PM
i only got to watch the first 15 minutes or so of the game online and all i can say is that this looked way different than that isolation shit Lowe ran. They were moving around, making swing passes to get interior passes with ease... you know.. the kind of stuff other well-coached teams usually do to us. I know they'll be growing pains but at least this looks like an offense that will have the ability to score, they look like there's some kind of plan.
11/5/2011 11:10:37 PM
It was really strange to see us constantly in motion... I guess I like it?

Painter looked improved, Powell looked the same (on the court), alex johnson is going to be a huge help for us this year, and overall, the tres were falling pretty consistently.
11/6/2011 7:35:39 AM
Powell returned to NCSU?
11/6/2011 10:44:18 AM
The team looks better conditioned and better coached. I like our system. Also, regarding our defense, I think Gottfried said recently the first couple of weeks of practice were spent only on learning the offense, so it isn't a surprise if the defense is a little behind. They did play more aggressive man defense than we saw last year. Our bigs look like they are developing their post offense skills, and a skilled big man will flourish in this offense.CJ Leslie doesn't look completely comfortable in his role in this offense. I think that is partly due to learning the 3 and 4, which are very different in this offense. It's also due in part to being a face up player, where this offense posts up our 4 with the back to the basket a bit more. I expect to see him get worked more at the high post and on back cuts as time goes along, along with giving him some minutes at the 3. Unfortunately he is needed more at the 4, since playing him at the 3 means Scott Wood is on the bench or guarding a 2 guard.

Richard Powell 1st all team ACC
11/6/2011 11:00:54 AM
Anyone else at the game think the PA guy was having a stroke during introductions? Must have been spent after calling the football game. ]
11/6/2011 11:08:13 AM
^Haha I noticed the same thing. Maybe he was having trouble reading the sheet.
