#1 got some respect from Mel Kiper Jr. in the latest ESPN mag as one of three defensive players to watch or some shit to that effect.

North Carolina State sophomore corner David Amerson leads the FBS with 10 interceptions, three more than anyone else. Not only has no defender picked off 11 passes since safety Jim Leonhard of Wisconsin in 2002, but if Amerson maintains his pace of one interception per game, he will be the first to do so over an entire season since safety Terry Hoage of Georgia in 1982. You now may find Hoage in the College Football Hall of Fame.-Ivan Maisel

It sucks he won't get a 13th game to try for more INTs.
11/17/2011 5:22:35 PM
Dre Bly can eat a dick

Fuck you Dre Bly!! Haha
11/19/2011 6:03:41 PM
11/19/2011 6:16:10 PM
Did anyone get a capture of the graphic where it compares Amerson's interceptions with those of teams in the top 25?
11/19/2011 6:20:23 PM
maybe the greatest season statistically buy a DB ever... he should SO win the Heisman... I mean, if Woodson did with his average stats then Amerson is a shoo in
11/19/2011 7:41:05 PM
^^no, but they said he has more INTs than 66 FBS teamskid isnt just getting INTs, he's playing lockdown corner. Plus he's only a sophomore. He's rated by a couple websites as a top 5 CB in the 2014 draft class[Edited on November 19, 2011 at 7:56 PM. Reason : adsf]
11/19/2011 7:54:30 PM
I looked at the current stats, he's got more than something like 70+ teams.
11/19/2011 8:01:07 PM
Woodsons team won the rose bowp. Poor amerson.
11/19/2011 9:04:01 PM
TOB decided to call out amerson and say it was dumb footballreal classy TOB
11/19/2011 11:31:27 PM
^wow. terrible "leadership"criticize in private, praise in public. What a loser. Wonder why he can't convince talented recruits to come play for him? Publicly insult and run off your best players. Success will be punished[Edited on November 19, 2011 at 11:37 PM. Reason : ,]
11/19/2011 11:36:10 PM
You guys should have learned a long time ago that TOB despises great talent. Amerson will leave for the draft for sure.
11/19/2011 11:40:15 PM
well he's right, it was fourth down
11/19/2011 11:40:41 PM
thanks nobody realized that
11/19/2011 11:41:57 PM
so you guys are mad at tob for putting the welfare of the team above individual accolades, makes sense. you guys will never be happy and must always have something to bitch about
11/19/2011 11:44:26 PM
The best thing for your team is to publicly embarrass your best players when they do well. Genius. He handles the media like Chuck AmatoIt's not like he could have praised amerson in public for being the best in the nation while also telling him to play differently in the film session.[Edited on November 19, 2011 at 11:56 PM. 11/19/2011 11:55:24 PM
ICE! FANNIES! WHAT CRITICS?
11/19/2011 11:57:06 PM
I'm sure he's really embarrassed, he may never play football again
11/20/2011 12:08:21 AM
tob is a selfish coach and will never be happy about making accomodations to his policies for elite athletes. We've seen this as a recurring theme.
11/20/2011 12:35:51 AM
TOB would normally be right. If it was Bishop, I'd have been pissed if he'd have caught it However, knowing what the score was and that an ACC record is on the line, I can't believe TOB would be disappointed in that. Now, unless its the difference between a bowl game and staying home, catch it Amerson. To Hell with Dre Bly
11/20/2011 12:49:32 AM
It was a dumb play if the outcome wasn't decided. We got the ball at the one yard line. In a close game, it could have decided the outcome. I don't see how this guy is any good, he's a 3* TOB recruit.
11/20/2011 1:16:27 AM

Thorpe Award finalists:S Mark Barron, AlabamaCB Morris Claiborne, LSUCB David Amerson, N.C. State
11/21/2011 6:32:22 PM
damn, thats a good group... going to be a tough call. Barron knocks the shit out of people and Claiborne should be a top 5 pick next year
11/21/2011 6:36:24 PM
Wow. But I can't help but wonder if the Thorpe is another gay ass de facto team award like the Heisman. Notice that LSU and Bama are #1 and #2, so it looks a little like Amerson is included as the honorable mention who "would win if our team was doing well."Can a player on a 6-6/7-5 team win it? I sure hope so.
11/21/2011 7:45:50 PM
they are both legit, definitely not in just because they play for LSU and Bama. But the Thorpoe is hard one to predict as its not just purely stat based as DBs cant just be judged on numbers alone
11/21/2011 7:47:41 PM
Good company, at least. Should get paid eventually barring NC state shit
11/21/2011 7:52:14 PM
nvm. saw picture[Edited on November 21, 2011 at 8:17 PM. Reason : .]
11/21/2011 8:15:30 PM
^^^ Not saying that those other two players aren't great football players, I'm just saying that I hope playing for a weak team doesn't automatically exclude you like it does the Heisman. Using RW as an example, the QB with the nation's highest overall ranking, and he's not even in contention for the "most outstanding football player" trophy because his team recorded two losses.[Edited on November 21, 2011 at 8:20 PM. 11/21/2011 9:14:53 PM
I don't know all the factors in this thorpe award, but if these mean anything:Amerson: 11 INT, 51 Tkl (35 solo)Barron: 2 INT, 60 Tkl (39 solo)Claiborne: 4 INT, 40 Tkl (24 solo)then the winner is clear
11/22/2011 4:24:41 PM
It will come down to whether Barron or Claiborne have more finesse than Amerson.
11/22/2011 6:45:33 PM
lol...forgot about that one last year.
11/22/2011 6:54:42 PM
^ha, i've already forgotten the details of that story. Wasn't it a UNC linebacker winning some award over Irving and others with clearly superior stats, and then after and outcry, the explanation was his superior "finesse"?
11/22/2011 6:57:59 PM
it will go to the more senior player, and they'll assume Amerson will win it during his junior or senior years...
