Enjoyable.

The characters are pretty flat for a three hour runtime, but I wonder if that's the point. There's relatively little emotional resonance in the fates of the main characters, so the acts that are perpetrated by the slavers are the things to reflect on.

Either way, to me it doesn't stack up to Kill Bill Vol. 2 or Basterds.

Katt Williams hates Jamie Foxx and is in dire need of press that doesn't involve him getting arrested.

Spike Lee didn't say anything about it.

Just saying, Spike Lee thinks the idea of the film is inappropriate, but he made no comment on its quality. His attitude is unsurprising due to his stances in the past, and it's not news.

Katt Williams is having a mental breakdown and is taking potshots on his way down the hole.

It is inappropriate, but what he does is also absurdly accurate in most cases. The only place where he has gone too far in my book is Dead Nigger Storage. When it is something that you can't even repeat publicly then you know it was a fuck up.

I thought it was his best work.

I also didn't see anything for black audiences to get their panties in a wad over. People are ridiculously sensitive these days over race, and far too PC. BanjoMan's post was a real head scratcher as well. How the fuck was the Dead Nigger Storage bit so offensive to you?

I liked it but it was no where near edited like Inglorious bastards. I felt the pacing was off.

I felt like Tarantino wanted to say nigger a lot and this was his vehicle and he looked at people with a mischievous grin and saying " hey that's how they talked in that day" It ballsy. I had the same feeling though was with IB when he killed Hitler. Its ballsy. it's over the top. I get the gimmick. I like it though. It's blazing saddles but just wasn't funny.

the hood scene wasn't funny, actually it was funny at first but after the first five minutes I was pissed that people were still laughing at a dragging joke. The Tarantino cameo made me want to jump out of a window.

I think Leo did the damn thing. he played his role well. Kerry washington didnt do anything.

Tarantino's in the hood scene as well, he's the speaking one who never removes his hood.

DiCaprio was excellent.

There are a lot of unanswered questions character-wise that just shouldn't be hanging with a three hour runtime. For instance, Stephen is a totally different character in the library. I don't need a full backstory, because it's obvious why he behaves the way he does in public, but how did their close, respectful private relationship come to be? When did the two Stephens begin to diverge in front of Calvin?

I suspected they had a underling close relationship at the very beginning. Samuel's character kept back talking and questioning Leo authority at times. That would have never went down unless iI though Leo has some kind of trust in him. Samuel was the head of house slaves. He was in charge when Leo was away. So that scene didn't surprise me and they met in the library away from everyone

^ Of course he has some sort of trust in him, but the entire tenor of their conversation changes. It goes well beyond even the change of tone that'd accompany a private conversation with someone one has known since childhood, especially considering that Candie's ideology on racial superiority is so fully-formed (not unlike Hans Landa's).

I had such high hopes for this film. I'll be the first to say as a black man I could have went the rest of my life without seeing that movie and been perfectly fine. The hood scene was funny for all of 30 seconds, Ms, laura getting shot was pretty funny (Bitch went flying).

I left the theater thinking Tarantino is something like a shock director, yes saying nigger 100+ times in a movie is shocking, seeing a guy get ripped by dogs is shocking, seeing a black guy kill a ton of white people is shocking, but this was a god awful movie. The accents of the slaves were atrocious, the one bitch that called Leo big daddy made me want to leave. Slaves reading, Leo having a slave wife, and nigger became nigga midway through the movie.

ib4 tldr THIS MOVIE PISSED ME OFF IN SO MANY WAYS

This movie was very funny and pretty well done. I think near the end it dragged on a tad bit too long, but it was still well worth the price of admission. Quentin is a shit actor though, but once he got off the screen, it was fine.

Last 30 minutes dragged some and Tarantino was pretty shit in his Australian slave runner scene, but loved it other than that. Not as good as Basterds, but I really liked it.

I thoroughly enjoyed it when I saw it last night. Not as great as IB, but still pretty darn good. Definitely worth my time and money.

Spike Lee is such a little bitch. You never hear whites bitching about injustice after seeing a movie featuring Roman culture and their slaves.

Is this your first Tarantino film? That effect is on purpose. If you try point out how events in his films don't mesh with physics/biology/history you've completely missed the point.

On your point, I like the exaggerated blood/gore in his films...it's often pretty funny imo.

I seriously haven't scene a Tarantino film I haven't liked. I absolutely loved it. Is it just me but did this one seem more violent? I don't dislike violent movies...on the contrary sometimes I think about my preference for male dominated violent flicks and shows...but while watching and walking away it felt the most violent. Maybe it's just the Wild West element.

A++ would see again. Also lots of lulz. Excellent all around.

^ You didn't like Tarantino's acting did you? Minus that, it's a great film.

I guess if you look at his acting in this movie as satire, it's pretty hilarious. I dunno.

^Tarantino always play a goofy idiot in his cameos. It's called self-deprecation.

This film is ridiculous, over the top, anachronistic, and inaccurate and ya'll are upset about a stupid 5 minute cameo?

^^ Not always. His part in Death Proof isn't that goofy, and the part Rodriguez gave him in Planet Terror isn't even close. He's just a bad actor, plain and simple. No shame in that, but you'd think by now he'd realize he's been in enough movies.

With that said, we're also talking about a movie that features Don Johnson and Tom Wopat.

Missing my point entirely, and I'm not discrediting the violence of slavery--whipping, chains, the dogs, the fight. I'm talking death count. Sadly I had to leave during Death Proof and still haven't finished it, so that's absent from my comparison to his other films. Between the bounties, the result of the KKK rally, and the final shoot out that seemed to be the most violent yet.

I also like my terrible homonym typo in my first post

For the record, I pointed it out as satire before anyone here, but I just don't think it's funny anymore. Beating a dead horse so to speak.
