Julie Bowen hasn't been funny since she was getting tongue raped by Shooter McGavin. Her "humor" is a product of those around her. She's the pretty face who acts flustered by other's comedic exploits.

Hmm, lets see. Happy Gilmore? Straight man. Multiplicity? Straight man. Ed? Straight man. Boston Legal? Straight man. I'm not going to count Lost, because she wasn't in it enough to matter. Modern Family? Straight man.

Its a respectable role. Paul Rudd has made a career out of it. Jeff Daniels made a career out of it with one role. But its not "Paul Rudd/Jeff Daniels/Julie Bowen are soooooo funny." Its "Paul Rudd/Jeff Daniels/Julie Bowen are reacting to someone more talented being soooooo funny." and in the case of Modern Family, that "more talented" moniker goes to everyone except Mitchell and Manny.

Up All Night brought me some lulz last night. Maya Rudolph kinda ruins it for me though. Making funny faces does not a funny person make.

Sunday - Homeland premieres after Dexter, looks interesting enough for a DVR

Wednesday - American Horror Story on FX. FX has had a good run of shows recently so I'm going to give this once a chance

FX being a good network isn't going to trump Ryan Murphy being a terrible showrunner.

The Modern Family episode was great. Claire actually had a purpose. The Jay/Gloria plot was funny. Plenty to like. Hopefully this season starts to pick up instead of teeter off.

And is it just me, or is Alex growing up quite a bit.

Alrighty then, I know there may be a couple new shows that haven't aired yet, but, for the most part, I've pared down my new picks to: American Horror Story, Pan Am, Suburgatory, and Up All Night.

26 minutes into Pan-Am, and I'm afraid I won't watch again...

So three new shows total that I can tolerate...and two of those may not work out--I haven't even watched American Horror Story yet and I was in a overly positive mood when I watched Suburgatory (LOL).

But let's see what else has yet to air: Alcatraz, Apartment 23, Best Friends Forever, Good Christian Belles, Grimm, Once Upon a Time, and the River.

I'm going to watch all those shows and even the more embarrassing stuff that nobody will mention: Are You There Vodka?, I Hate My Teenage Daughter, Man Up, and Work It.

New premium channel shows that should start soon or now: Homeland, Hell on Wheels, and Enlightened.

Whitney is a disaster. She's pretty, but not pretty enough to be hot. She's humorous, but not humorous enough to be funny. The only saving grace is the spaced out boyfriend who was better served as the pedophile from Workaholics. And the laugh track just makes it unbearable.

WHOA YOUR BREATH IS CRAZY BAD

I'm supposed to laugh at that? gtfo

i feel like 2 Broke Girls is going to get picked up no matter what, but could have really benefited from Whitney's cancellation to allow Cummings to go back to writing for it and making it a much better sitcom. Now they'll both be sub par shows picked up for entire seasons.

That mob show that Netflix picked up sounds kind of cool, except for the fact that it stars Steven Van Zandt. I always thought he was the most wooden and mannered actor on The Sopranos outside of maybe the kid who played AJ.

I'm actually a little sad that The Playboy Club got canned. It was rather interesting, though being right after The Sing Off did it no favors. I certainly thought it was at least twice as good as Revenge. I did not give that show a second episode. (Those are the only new shows I've seen so far).

^I thought Playboy club was kind of intriguing as well. They axed it so early, I guess they just decided they had had enough with all of the controversy over the show. (Although I don't really know why because it wasn't any more racy than other shows on tv)

^ahh ok...I've already watched the whole second season, there are some cool episodes but it's not nearly as engaging as the first season.

They cancelled it because of ratings, pure and simple.

i love Suburgatory and it fits in great with ABC's wednesday night lineup. They need Cougar Town back on to bookend those three as they fit so well together.
