It's been known for awhile now Progress Energy would be downsizing in Raleigh. I'm not surprised by those numbers at all.

Sorry,

Has Mr Scrumples always been such an insufferable cunt?
9/1/2011 3:49:44 PM
I never resorted to name-calling, guy. Jeez, that's uncalled for.
9/1/2011 3:52:01 PM
amen

http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kr8mqaEE671qzzvv4o1_400.gifIt may be time to salt the scrump.
9/1/2011 4:01:21 PM
lol, there's no way we're hiring 1000 more people. I think we promised 500 in Wake County, and I can only imagine that will be over a 10 year period.
9/1/2011 5:32:55 PM
^ I think they're just talking about the workforce moving to downtown, not that there would be 1000 jobs in addition to the ones moving.
9/1/2011 8:33:31 PM
Alright, the last I'll say here, MAYBE, is that I wish I'd moved into one of those $750,000 condos downtown. Downtown Raleigh. 750, folks.
9/1/2011 8:44:30 PM
Yeah, because those surely make up the lion's share of the market. Those multi-million dollar homes in Cary are most of the real estate market in Cary too.
9/2/2011 8:51:26 AM
95+% of the condos downtown are under 325k....Scrump is a douche....and thats the last time I will say that.....MAYBE.

9/2/2011 9:32:22 AM
^ quite a significant example of why downtown Raleigh cannot have nice things. I was going to post that, because it's so funny how a food truck is apparently a big deal; enough to warrant restraints keeping them out of the area. Something you have in common with Chapel Hill, I guess...
9/2/2011 10:23:32 AM
I hadn't heard Chapel Hill restricts food trucks.I do think it's ridiculous how you have a few council members with a stick up their ass over this issue. In particular the objections Thomas Crowder has are downright retarded. I kind of wish I lived in that district just so I could campaign against him
9/2/2011 10:52:21 AM
Amazing the difference in downtown Durham, which essentially survives off food trucks, and Raleigh, which views them as creatures of satan Not a fan of Durham in general, but I love me some OnlyBurger

Raleigh has decided to let food trucks in downtown but with some restrictions..http://www.newsobserver.com/2011/09/07/1466623/food-truck-operators-win-a-place.html

opening dates for the hillsborough chipotle and cam village chic-fil-a?
9/7/2011 11:47:48 PM
Chipotle looks like it will be this month. I drove past today and they had the menus up over the register. It looks like they just have finishing touches left.

Interesting it would include classroom space.
9/8/2011 2:53:22 PM
not the best spot for a rooftop restaurant, but the more proper restaurants, the better
9/8/2011 2:54:28 PM
^^yeah, I thought that was the most interesting part of that.I am all for more rooftop eateries in Raleigh
9/8/2011 3:26:19 PM
At last I can look down on the peasants at East Village and thumb my nose.

hahaha

I guess Chuck's is open now. Still haven't seen a menu. Would love to see the cocktail menu at Fox's as well. [Edited on September 13, 2011 at 10:07 AM. Reason : .]

If anyone wants to start another argument as to whether or not the restaurant is any good, start a different thread please.
9/13/2011 12:02:06 PM
I was posting more for Part Deux of the revitalization process for this building as opposed to having people shit on Ashley C's soul.
9/13/2011 12:28:12 PM
Fox's is gorgeousdidn't get a chance to look at their cocktail menu though
9/13/2011 1:33:01 PM
Chuck's was open on Thursday without a menu; Ashley was the only server, and if you bought a drink she brought out a random burger for free. Starting Friday they were open with a regular menu.
9/13/2011 1:57:11 PM
Had lunch there on Sunday. It was pretty dope.
9/13/2011 2:07:13 PM
^what did you get?anyone have a picture of the menu?
9/13/2011 2:12:48 PM
there's a partial menu... can't find a picture of the whole thing. there are like 7 or 8 different burgers. I've had the Spirit Animal twice, which has cream cheese, poblano peppers, some type of tomatoes, and tortilla crumble. fucking delicious. it's not cheap though (cue the whining) - $9 burgers, $4 for fries (which come with some great dipping sauces). The Carolina Burger (Dirty South) looks amazing.they also have Aviator root beer on tap, which is amazing.[Edited on September 13, 2011 at 3:53 PM. Reason : ]
9/13/2011 3:53:31 PM
^ I had the bear in heaven, gf had the dirty south. Both are awesome, but charging $1 each for sauce irked me a bit.
9/13/2011 4:04:01 PM
I hadn't seen the written menu yet. They should call it Hometapes, not Chuck's.
9/13/2011 8:53:26 PM
^^^ How do the burgers compare to Tribeca Tavern? Those burger prices seem reasonable when compared to other places with high end burgers.
9/13/2011 8:55:06 PM
oh look, another overpriced hipster joint.
9/13/2011 11:10:52 PM
if hipsters are the only ones who'll bother to live/eat/drink downtown, then the new places are going to be hipster joints.just how it is.
9/14/2011 12:14:46 AM
I took the segway tour through downtown yesterday. had a groupon that was going to expire soon.I HIGHLY recommend it. In addition to segways being cool, the tour guides were great and they talked about/showed a lot of the projects going on that you guys are talking about here.I'm excited for downtown Raleigh's future

9/16/2011 5:46:06 PM
waiting for a totes desaturated polaroid of part of the menu
9/16/2011 5:48:09 PM
Random question, but what time can bands play at the Raleigh ampitheater? I thought it was 11pm, but it might be 10. Anybody know?
