He's the same guy that made it damn near impossible to have a party near State. He also gets pissy whenever State wants to do something like a street festival on Hillsborough. He basically hates the university.

What's the over/under on attendance to the rodeo on Sunday for those trucks who break down?

I'll say 3 don't make the committment.

yep, that's correct. Thomas Crowder was the guy that replaced him.

It's like how if Robert Mugabe ever gets assassinated, the next guy will be as bad if not worse.

I'm heading out there with the family in about an hour.

Also, vote for your favorite food truck. the food network is doing a Great Food Truck Race.

http://foodtrucks.teamdigital.com/

Right now, 2 local trucks are in the top 10, OnlyBurger and Klausie's.

Why isn't Bulkogi Korean BBQ on that list

Tons of people here. I'm in line at Only Burger; there's easily 60 in front of me.

I heard they had a large turnout and ran out of food. I was not able to make it, but I understand there is another soon.

The turnout was incredible

at 6pm, the line for Only Burger was at least 60-70 people deep.

I was with my parents and they didn't want to wait so we ended up leaving and going to Cuban Revolution for dinner

After dinner, we went back by the rodeo and at 8pm, the crowd had thinned out a lot but there was still quite a line for Only Burger. I got a bag of kettle corn for dessert.

Klausie's was at least half an hour late to the rodeo. We saw him flying down the street at 6:30 pm, windows open cursing about the number of cars already there. The dude was honking his horn to get pedestrians (and other cars) out of his way.

^the only one that I saw that was out of food was Daisy Cakes I think

I was standing right where he showed up, he wasn't cursing, he was yelling that they were finally there (tweeted earlier about a dead starter) and had no wait. I can see how if you weren't close enough to hear him it might have sounded like he was being a dick, but it was quite the opposite.

We also decided to bail on eating dinner. A 3 year old wasn't gonna wait an hour fir food when she was hungry when we left home. Ended up at tylers. Great crowd though...too great. We got some kettle corn and locopops at least.

I stuck around and had some awesome food

people are too damn impatient

The place was packed. We showed up around 6:30 or so and stood in line for awhile before deciding to just go to the OnlyBurger restaurant. We couldn't even tell which line we were in for haha.

Ate there then came back a little after 8, and there were still people there. Some trucks had sold out, but plenty were still going. It was awesome to see such the turnout, but at some point the crowd is a turnoff.

It was pretty cool. The wait sucked, but since a bunch of my friends came I managed to try Only Burgers, Chirba Chirba Dumpling, the Italian ice place, the crepe place, the first pizza joint*, and get a locopop.

*Since it took me an hour and half or more to get my burger, I don't know the names of any of the other places.

Divide and conquer.

My buddy was in the grilled cheese line with another woman when they held up a sign that said "We're running out," so I put in burger orders for them too.

waited in line almost an hour for a polish sausage at the sausage wagon. it was one of the shorter lines but still took forever. fun time i guess. probably wouldn't wait that long again though.

I just wanted to let it be known that if I owned a crepe truck it would be the 'Crepe DeVille'.

I think this sort of thing is something the Raleigh restaurants are very afraid of.

no no no, when we saw them we were walking away from the food truck rodeo at least half a block up...we were walking toward the Durham Bulls Park. He was making a right and he was cursing (fuck fuck fuck) and laying on his horn for people in the street to get the fuck out of his way and honking at cars to move over and let him by. Maybe he was yelling that they had finally arrived when they pulled in but when he was driving down the street, he was definetly cursing

I didn't like the kettle corn I ate at the rodeo. It just wasn't the kind of kettle corn I'm used to.

ahhh, just had lunch from KoKyu (they were kinda behind the bojangle's on 55) and it definitely lived up to the hype.

I had a carolina carnitas slider, shortrib slider, and the duckfat tots for $10

A little steep for lunch, but well worth it.

"One of the new (and largest) regulations, comes in the form of what time food trucks would be able to operate in Raleigh. The new law states that food trucks would only be able to serve food until 1am, rather than the 3am time that is currently set for hot dog carts. "

Quote :
"The second big issue that has popped up recently is the assignment of parking spaces for food trucks in Raleigh. For a food truck to serve food on private property, the business must apply for a zoning permit for the truck to be on their property. This permit takes about ten days, which to some of the council members wasn't enough time as well. Within the permit process, this private company must show that they have a specific parking space in mind for the food truck. This parking space MUST be paved and not dirt, gravel or grass (although gravel is a possibility in the future). After the permit is acquired, the company must then paint the space and designate it for the food truck.

There’s more. This parking space must be in a secondary parking space and not a primary one for the business. Some business, such as Ornamentea (which was brought up in the meeting) has only primary parking spaces, so it’s possible that this small business couldn’t get the permit because they didn’t have enough parking spaces in their TINY parking lot.

The trucks can only operate in these private lots during the hours of the business with the permit. Also, the owner of the building is the one that must apply for the permit. That means, someone leasing the building cannot apply for the permit and the owner must be present and have his/her name on the permit. Then, if the permit is secured and a restaurant pops up within 100 feet of the business at any time afterwards, they go back to square one and the food truck can no longer operate in that location. There’s no grandfather clause. The food trucks will always be on edge as to whether this one location they did secure will be there permanently. "

wtf

OH NO NOT THE MCDONALDS ON WESTERN! WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT OUR 20 PACK MCNUGGETS IF THE FOOD TRUCKS CHASE THEM AWAY?

Indian food truck in front of my building in DC today, which is a rare sighting.

Too bad the line looks like a 45 min wait and sushi is available with a wait of right now.
