LGA is the ultimate buzkill. It may be close but you are in NYC and transportation is a freaking issue. Cab lobby or what?
1/24/2013 11:30:28 PM
wtf is your problem? 10 minute bus ride to the subway and then a 20 min ride into Manhattan. Do you prefer JKF with it's Airtrain and subway ride combination, that can take almost up to an hour to get into Manhattan? Or perhaps you would care to tell me how easy it is to get from EWR into Manhattan?
1/25/2013 8:27:52 AM
My preference these days is to fly out of EWR and come back into LGA, and here's why:EWR is the easiest to get to from midtown during rush hour (which is when and where I'm usually leaving from work) on NJ Transit. Note I used to hate this way because NJ Transit is way more confusing than NY, but after a bunch of trips out there I've finally figured it out. Also, and this may just be luck on my part, almost every time I go to Newark there are like no security lines.Coming back LGA is absolutely the easiest place to get a cab. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten back to JFK around midnight and just stood there hoping for a cab while I deliberated taking the hour train ride. EWR might have cabs, but it costs $Texas to get back into NY
1/25/2013 9:18:28 AM
Given those scenarios I definitely agree with your points.
1/25/2013 9:48:26 AM
Went to a speak easy in NYC this past weekend. It had a really cool atmosphere, but one tiny drink for $16 is just too much for me. I preferred McSorley's so much more.

Can anyone vouch for Blue Ribbon Sushi on Sullivan's St in SoHo? I'm leaning towards checking it out one night next weekend (assuming I can get a table).
4/9/2013 4:38:29 PM
4/9/2013 4:42:48 PM
maybe some people hate NJTransit
4/9/2013 4:47:26 PM
Haters gonna hate

So, for anyone who cares, Blue Ribbon Sushi was fantastic. 10/10 would recommend.I also dined at Arturo's coal oven pizzeria. Some of the best pizza I've ever had. I'll probably want to eat there now for every return visit.

^^I've been to Blue Ribbon in Park Slope, but didn't have their sushi. Love their food at Brooklyn Bowl though also. Would you say that their sushi is worth the money?Arturo's is one of my favorite places and I'm always surprised at how little notoriety it gets.^Come to think of it, over the past year or so I've had to deal with very few lines of any kind at any of the airports. There was a couple month stretch where I flew like 5 times and had 0 lines...like I walked to the front and turned around to take pictures I was so happy. In fact, the worst lines I've had in the recent past have been in Charlotte[Edited on April 17, 2013 at 2:21 PM. going back up May 17th for Yanks/Jays
4/17/2013 3:37:59 PM
^^I thought so. For clarification I went to the location on Sullivan Street; had the Sushi Sashimi combo which was $35.95.^I might be up that weekend as well, if I can arrange to see someone that I met up there last wknd, again
4/18/2013 8:19:29 AM
I went to a blue ribbon sushi on 58th street last week. Didnt know it existed before I went and it was pretty good. I didnt have to pay (work thing) and it was not cheap.
4/18/2013 8:50:53 AM
I also thoroughly enjoyed The Meatball Shop and Vanessa's Dumplings. Oh, and I was impressed with the Brother Jimmy's on 31st and Lex.Also, how in the hell did I live in NYC for 3 years and not be aware of Eataly?
4/18/2013 9:26:35 AM
Eataly just opened in the past few years
4/18/2013 9:46:18 AM
Oh thank God I also wish the High Line Bier Garten at the Standard Hotel had been around when I lived up there. But it wasn't
4/18/2013 10:12:38 AM
my friends want to go to Googa Mooga that Friday the 17th, in Brooklyn, to see Flaming Lips and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. i like both bands, but not sure i want to spend an entire day doing that.]
4/18/2013 11:45:46 AM

4/19/2013 1:20:03 AM
Flash Dancer in Times Square is pretty good. 53rd and Broadway.
4/19/2013 9:55:37 AM
I've heard there's a shitty one down in Tribeca near the Patriot, which is an equally gross dive bar, would make for a good combo...don't know the name though, sorryQuick search on Google Maps says there's a strip club near where I'm talking about called NY Dolls[Edited on April 19, 2013 at 11:15 AM. A really fantastic trip to the airport.

had a good time a couple weeks ago. Spent a nice afternoon at The Frying Pan on the west side. the weather was perfect for sitting out over the water and enjoying a few local pints. Also found a nice neighborhood bar, Ryan's Daughter, just a few blocks away from where my friend lives on the UES. Will definitely be back there again.
5/29/2013 12:08:45 PM
^Seconded on the Frying Pan
5/29/2013 12:12:47 PM
If its too hot the frying Pan is....A frying pan. Not fun.
5/29/2013 12:21:15 PM
yeah i could see that. it was mid 70s with a nice breeze. I still got quite a bit of sun on my arms and face. could see it being a...frying pan....in the dead of summer.

How I miss you NYC Rare Bar - smaller rooftop bar but you're not packed in like 230 FifthSTK House - rooftop seatingPizza - if you need to experience Grimaldi's - the one in Manhattan on 20th and 6th is never as crowded as the one in bk. I like John's on Bleecker St.Bfast/Brunch - Crepes Du Nord (2nd mention itt)Village Underground/Fat Black Pussycat - great live musicFat Cat - PBR galore? yes, but who doesn't like ing pong/pool/chess/free pizza/live jazz every once in a while?I'm gonna stop right now before I start booking weekend trips
5/29/2013 5:17:26 PM
Anyone try a cronut yet?Apparently they're being scalped on craigslist at $40 each.
5/29/2013 5:25:14 PM
I'm going to NYC with a friend to visit/stay with two other friends from college. Going from the 8th-13th and will be in Brooklyn. I can't wait as I have not been since I was 20 or so.
5/31/2013 2:41:54 PM

5/31/2013 2:54:22 PM

5/31/2013 2:57:43 PM
downtown/prospect heights.
4/12/2014 1:24:05 AM
I'm in Prospect Heights as I type this.
4/12/2014 10:26:22 PM
go to Franny's in Park Slope. so good. a little overpriced tho. check out Le Bain at the top of the Standard. there's no cover and the view is awesome. especially now that it's warm.[Edited on April 13, 2014 at 12:51 PM. Reason : ]

My favorite restaurants in Prospect Heights are Chuko and Bar Corvo.
4/13/2014 3:10:37 PM
I was super close to getting a place in Prospect Heights or Park Slope, but settled on Jersey City for commuting purposes. Love that area.
4/14/2014 7:59:52 PM
what say you people about Roberta's in Williamsburg? because, i for one, love it.
4/14/2014 9:18:46 PM
Just booked a flight up there for first wknd in June.
4/15/2014 9:50:37 AM
Must see: Central Park, Brooklyn bridge, Wall street, China town
4/15/2014 9:58:58 AM
^^nice, i'll probably be going up there around the same time.
4/15/2014 10:11:15 AM
Roberta's is good, but I've had terrible service there both times I've gone (not that it matters, but it's in Bushwick)
4/15/2014 10:42:51 AM
i honestly don't spend much time on that side so I wasn't sure which neighborhood technically. i've eaten there twice and both times the wait was worth it, even if the service was on the slow end.
4/15/2014 11:15:27 AM
their pizza is definitely killer. and the brunch is good too. I live in the Hell's Kitchen area so I don't make it out there much either.
