Yall help me win this contest real quick. What Moogfest artist has come out with an album or EP since July 1st that's not on this list:St Vincent, Toro Y Moi, Neon Indian, Active Child, Zomby, The Drums, Little Dragon, Beats Antique, CANT, Grimes, Umphreys, Warm Ghost, Mayer HawthorneThey also said the missing artist is "probably the most recent"
10/5/2011 5:36:58 PM
Pretty sure I got it, but I think I have this thing on lock anyway...
10/5/2011 6:37:33 PM
I realize it's probably too late, but maybe Atlas Sound? Album hasn't officially come out yet, but that's the only one I can think of that's more recent than 9/13 (the week for CANT, St Vincent, and Neon Indian).
10/5/2011 6:51:58 PM
I think it's Naked and Famous. Apparently they had some shit come out Tuesday; think it's some sort of re-release. Dude was all 'Toro doesn't count because some intern missed that release.' ...
10/6/2011 12:27:30 AM
Schedule released, and someone please explain to me what they were thinking setting up an outdoor venue in the middle of Asheville at the end of October...
10/10/2011 6:19:38 PM
Crystal Castles & SBTRKT at the same time is the only thing that really conflicts for me. also I didn't realize how early some of these shows are (CC and M83 at 7:30?) but I guess that doesn't matter
10/10/2011 7:17:58 PM
dillydaliant, next time you do a contest for 'likes' such as the Moogfest one, make a Note on your page so people don't have to scroll through 293023 posts. Just trying to offer a suggestion, because I tried to help that woman out. I totally didn't want that dude to win, but it was hard to get people to scroll through all that mess to find her post...
10/12/2011 11:15:15 AM
Haha, thanks dude, I'll keep that in mind. It was definitely annoying to have to scroll through everytime, but I only ever use Facebook for Schoolkids, so I didn't know all the features. I kinda wanted the girl to win, too haha. Also yeah, that outdoor venue was/is a pretty terrible idea. There are definitely some conflicts, but it's not too terrible overall for me. Crystal Castles vs SBTRKT is definitely the worst one for me too.[Edited on October 12, 2011 at 3:39 PM. Reason : s]
10/12/2011 3:37:45 PM
Yeah. Even though hers was "I'll bake a bunch of cookies for yall" or something. "Baking, Shopping...math sucks, tee hee..."
10/12/2011 3:39:15 PM
lol the other guy's idea wasn't any better though
10/12/2011 4:37:07 PM
They are messing with the schedule a little today, and adding some things I think...
10/14/2011 11:06:26 AM
Is anyone leaving for this thursday night or friday morning and have an extra spot in their car? I can help with gas.
10/16/2011 9:28:24 PM
Can you pass a criminal background check?
10/16/2011 9:43:48 PM
yes
10/16/2011 10:23:53 PM
I will be leaving from Charlotte after hanging with my bros uptown at some chain bar that doesn't have a current DJ and an established snobbish scenester elitist clique, but maybe ask Tommy wiseau. Much, much cooler than I am. Or you could ask Vinylbandit if only 'cool' paid the bills...
10/16/2011 10:32:06 PM
So what is the relative size of the venues?
10/24/2011 4:32:33 PM
anyone need a place to stay during Moogfest? we have extra space in the place we're renting, would be cheaper for everyone involved^^ also still have no idea what that post means[Edited on October 24, 2011 at 4:50 PM. Reason : ]
10/24/2011 4:49:56 PM
what I said?
10/24/2011 4:52:58 PM
"On the north side of downtown Asheville are Moogfest's primary venues: the Asheville Civic Center which houses both the 6,000-capacity arena, and the smaller 2,400-seat Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. Shows will also take place at The Orange Peel, a 1,100-capacity club named by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the best rock clubs in the country."http://moogfest.com/about/venues/

^^it means I'll be in Charlotte, but would otherwise give the kid a ride, whilst acknowledging the ill-fated viewpoint amongst Raleigh scenesters of Charlotte and I'm sure plenty other cities in the state...Not that hard to understand...[Edited on October 25, 2011 at 1:16 AM. Reason : type fail]

10/26/2011 5:16:11 PM
Fuck it, why not
10/26/2011 5:24:35 PM
just waiting for CD Alley and BCR to start tweeting at this. lol
10/26/2011 5:25:10 PM
I don't even think I can go bc I have class that morning, but if I can get an extra Antlers show, might try to figure out a way to skip class
10/26/2011 5:26:04 PM
I won't be able to. He's gonna have more giveaways today though I think...
10/26/2011 5:26:56 PM
anyone going should really check out The Field tonight. because lol at people in Raleigh that didn't go to it last night.
10/28/2011 10:03:40 AM
Gave away my tickets. Will be seeing them tonight. Bout to leave the QC. SEE YALL ON THE FLIPSIDE
10/28/2011 11:55:57 AM
TV on the Radio... couldn't have sucked harder
10/29/2011 3:12:24 AM
I wasn't too impressed either. The Field was really good. Moby was surprisingly good, at least the part I saw. Didn't get to see Flying Lotus
10/29/2011 2:25:02 PM

last night was the greatest
10/30/2011 2:59:48 PM
Go to any afterparties?
10/30/2011 3:02:57 PM
only the one at the place we're staying at. haven't really heard of any after parties, but I also know no one from Asheville.I didn't take this picture but I love it and her
10/30/2011 3:12:19 PM
Last night was an early night for us. Wasnt feelin it. St Vincent did kick a lot of ass though. If we go to any afterparties tonight I'll see if j can post it here.
10/30/2011 3:17:51 PM
Also hung out with neon Indian very briefly in the VIP lounge of the orange peel and twin shadow stole our cab. Kinda. Cool story, I know, but honestly I have not been impressed with twin shadow on either occasion I've seen them live this year. Love the record but they need somebody to tell them about levels and soundboards or...something...
10/30/2011 3:26:45 PM
Def no afterparties for me. Too old for this. Overall festival grade: A- . Will give full report later.
10/31/2011 2:52:38 AM
10/31/2011 2:56:17 AM
Oh and to put that into perspective I'd give Hopscotch 2011 a C+. Hopscotch 2010 a B+. None if this has anything to do with the lineup necessarily.
10/31/2011 2:57:39 AM
The dude was getting fucked up with BJ all night, was hungover/drunk/whatever, and I had reputable, in fact very reputable sources tell me how awful the sound was that night. I don't really need your shit right now. Not sure if you'd gone to the Twin Shadow show in your own elitist backyard, but if so you'd agree it sounded like shit.
10/31/2011 3:05:53 AM
I really wanna air some dirty laundry about your stupid ass right now, but you've been a fucktard on the wolfweb for so long, I doubt anybody would be surprised at what a dickhead you are outside of it...
10/31/2011 3:09:32 AM
10/31/2011 3:25:12 AM
The last thing I said was pretty uncalled for and I apologize, but dude has a propensity to harsh mellows and be condescending. Back on topic: Moogfest was ridiculously awesome.
10/31/2011 12:57:39 PM
Pretty incredible festival altogether. I haven't spent much (any) time in Asheville as an adult, so that was interesting...lots of crusty individuals. I might have to go back sometime.Friday, my favorite performance was probably Holy Fuck. It left me thinking...you guessed it.Saturday was pretty ridiculous. I did Dan Deacon --> Crystal Castles --> Amon Tobin --> Battles. Dan Deacon was fun and hilarious as expected. The last three were...an experience. I enjoyed those few hours a lot. Alice Glass is a crazy bitch. Amon Tobin was...mind blowing. I wouldn't even know how to begin describing it. Battles, which has been on heavy rotation for me in the past few months, was really amazing. I wish they had been able to perform in the Civic center; the Thomas Wolfe place had seating and there was no room at the front for people to stand.

Had an unbelievably great time this weekend. Just about everything I saw was good to great and Asheville is still the coolest place ever to hang out at.Amazing:ChromeoFlying LotusBrian Eno's Illustrated TalkCrystal CastlesSt. VincentBattles (especially "Atlas"...one of the best, most brutal, most powerful songs I've ever heard live)M83Passion Pit (by far the biggest surprise of the weekend...wasn't a huge fan and did not have high hopes for their set but I was blown away and became a much bigger fan of theirs after seeing them live)If I had to pick a #1 absolute favorite out of these, it would probably be M83 or St Vincent honestly, but all these were phenomenal.Good:AustraThe AntlersHoly FuckThe FieldTV on the Radio (really I thought this set was just OK and I've seen better sets of theirs, but several of my friends who hadn't seen them before thought it was awesome, others hated it...so IDK)Dan DeaconSBTRKT (was really into this and wished I could've stayed, but had to leave halfway through to see Crystal Castles)Twin ShadowNeon IndianSucked:Little Dragon cancellingZombyFlaming Lips (COME ON MOTHERFUCKERS COME ON COME ON COME ON...Jesus, we fucking get it, Wayne Coyne...I don't know what more I could've done to come on, but he kept telling me to come on motherfucker)Amon Tobin (walked in for 2 minutes to look at the visuals, immediately left, wasn't into it at all)Oneohtrix Point NeverGhostland Observatory (sounded like shit, lasers looked pretty cool)EDIT: Also there is a very good chance that one of the hands in that St Vincent picture above is mine. I totally touched her arm, I'm never washing that hand again haha. Hottest woman ever.[Edited on October 31, 2011 at 3:15 PM. Reason : st]

I didn't go, but I have a buddy who did and he said it was kinda shitty. Apparently Alan Vega looks like death.

Anybody else go to John Maus?Dude played for 30 minutes of jumping around, screaming and acting crazy before leaving because the PA wasn't to his liking.

Thoughts on every band I saw or didn't see:Austra - I like them and I liked their show, the hipsterness of the band kind of annoyed me, but I just focused on the (extremely) hot backup singer/dancer in front of the keyboardist and ignored the rest of them. Good way to start the festival, and the sound at Orange Peel was really good all weekend so they sounded great. planned on getting dinner after this and seeing Little Dragon but they cancelled :/Chromeo - went to that Arcade bar (awesome) and took a bunch of shots before them because it was fucking cold outside and they were killer. left the front near the end because it was raining pretty hard but then ended up dancing with random people in the wet parking lot for a while until they finished. one of the funnest shows of the weekend probably.saw a little bit of Moby, don't care about him but it sounded pretty good actually. was surprised how big the crowd was for that. went up to watch The Field - great light show and they sounded good but it was just way too quiet, enjoyed their set at Kings way more. should have just stayed for Flying Lotus but met the rest of our group at TV on the Radio who, as I already mentioned, really sucked. I like their first two albums and think they're a good band but they have a whole lot of shitty, bland songs, and it seems that they decided to play most of those. tried to see Arrabmuzik but couldn't get in.late night and rough start to Saturday so didn't see any music until Crystal Castles, who were fucking great. Alice Glass rules, the sound was great, the lights were great.didn't see the Lips but from what I heard it sounds exactly like their Hopscotch set which was pretty lackluster, and yeah - didn't need to be told to come on for two hours while they played 7 songs.Amon Tobin - obviously super cool and impressive visually, but there was pretty much nothing interesting about the music imo. glad I saw a little of it at least.St Vincent - awesome, amazing, beautiful, perfect. there may have been um, other factors, that led to me enjoying this so much but it was probably my favorite part of the weekend. don't know how dillydaliant got so close (could see him from my seats) but i'm still jealous. biggest regret of the weekend is that we left Battles to go walk around and get some air and then the line was too long to get back in/we didn't feel like waiting. ended up hanging out in the back of the ACC for STS9 (they sound like elevator music) and walking through that spinning thing a lot. walked down to Orange Peel for Kode9 who was awesome, and a perfect way to end the night.Oneohntrix pointNever sounded like bullshit to me, and I like music like that. saw two songs of Active Child and wanted to fall asleep. M83 sounded awesome, and the lights were awesome, I just wish they could have played at a different time (not 6:30 pm). should have switched them with TV on the Radio's slot. loved their set though. didn't care about Neon Indian's set at all. James Murphy & Pat Mahoney were amazing imo. loved that. Ghostland Observatory imo has pretty terrible music but I had a good time at the show. couldn't get into Orange Peel for Gold Panda but I was pretty beat from the weekend and called it a night. great weekend, great music, great city. 10/10 weekend. I only brought one sweatshirt for some reason so if you saw someone walking around in a neon pink hoodie all weekend you probably saw me.[Edited on October 31, 2011 at 6:31 PM. Reason : ]
