First off, take a chill pill merbig.Second of all, I think it would not be a problem to post about what we wanted in a place that specifically mentioned not to be a fucking creeper or there would be consequences. Case in point, the beach body thread... A point was made for people not to go crazy with update pictures and what not, or qfred would lay the smack down. And this:
5/26/2011 11:52:42 PM
Today we are all trolled:
5/27/2011 2:09:32 AM
I think we stay in one thread because guys usually stfo of it. If we start making threads for every category, then usually guys come in with their cute little comments and side track shit. I dont want to browse through pages of guys telling me I shouldn't spend my money. I think this has been proven in majority of the threads we have recently made. If it was up to me, anyone with an M next to their sex wouldn't be able to post in our section GIRLS RULE, BOYS DROOL!
5/27/2011 10:27:24 AM
5/27/2011 10:40:01 AM
I can't believe so many guys think this is a bad idea. Who the fuck cares if girls have their own section? Why is everyone acting so fucking butthurt over it?I think it's a good idea.
5/27/2011 11:30:26 AM
ditto
5/27/2011 11:37:36 AM
Why don't we add a separate section for black users while we're at it? Or how about a separate section for handicapped users? Don't forget the parents, the pet owners, or the homosexuals. The point is that the Wolf Web's message boards are differentiated by the subjects being discussed, not the anatomical circumstances of the people discussing them. None of these topics you all have pointed out as examples demand special treatment. They'd fit in fine in the Lounge or Chit Chat. There's not even a common thread beyond "here are some things we think girls would like to talk about."
5/27/2011 11:54:14 AM
^this
5/27/2011 12:05:22 PM
But why do you even care? If the ladies want their own section where is the harm in doing it? I don't understand why everyone is getting so bent out of shape about it.
5/27/2011 2:01:08 PM
No one's getting bent out of shape about it, they just aren't convinced that there needs to be a separate section for females. There are some sections that could be added (like a Lifestyle section, as has been mentioned), but there doesn't need to be a separate sub-forum specifically to talk about clothes and menstrual cycles, or whatever it would be.
5/27/2011 2:14:06 PM
^that, and the proposed "lifestyle" section isn't different from "The Lounge"just use the lounge, or rename it to satisfy this debate.
5/27/2011 3:11:44 PM
Yeah, I was behind this until they started twatting up chit chatAnd after they actually listed the reasons they want a ladies' forum, it's pretty obvious that 100% of the discussion could happen in the loungeRequest denied
5/27/2011 3:30:03 PM
lol @ the Kitchen commentfor real though, I'd love to see a cooking forum. Lifestyle seems like a decent name for it as well. Let the girls have their own thread but allow guys to post in it until they make jackass comments and get banned from that forum, like if you were to do stupid shit in the Old School or Lounge sections. Maybe it would also keep the gay threads out of CC too (which would be a blessing in itself).
5/27/2011 3:30:50 PM
5/27/2011 4:12:06 PM
The Lounge still gets responses that are sometimes inappropriate, IMO. And honestly, it's nice to have a ladies section because then we're (SURPRISE) more likely to get responses from a female, aka someone we would like advice from, without getting a bunch of extra crap thrown in. When I made my thread about night terrors and posted a picture of my bruise (on my leg), the first response I got was from a dude asking if I played soccer. I'm not saying that's creepy, but still... it would be nice to just have a little space where we can have our stuff in a singular space. I REALLY don't understand the Lounge argument because you could put a few other message boards in there, imo. Plus, like bottombaby mentioned somewhere, the dudes already really have their own sections when you think of Sports Talk, Tech Talk, and The Garage. There might be a few ladies here and there but I would say most of them get trolled pretty hard or people rip apart their responses. We just want our own section because, YES, it would contain different stuff. Where is the harm in that?
5/27/2011 4:47:54 PM
So all of this is because you don't like the fact that men will respond or you won't get the response you want? Get real. This is an Internet forum where people discuss. Just because you don't get the responses you want or like, doesn't mean a whole new section needs to be created. What you people seem to be asking is for a section to be ruled by an iron fist, which IMO, completely goes against the structure of this forum.Grow a skin and ignore the stupid comments. All you're doing is dividing one section into two, and the one section is already "slow" as it is.All of your complaints and commentary are contradictory. You want pertinent responses, yet you still want to screw around. You want creepos to stay away, you can't stop PMs and them from reading the section. You don't want trolls, we have The Lounge. You can't have your cake and eat it too.Yes, the forum has "Sports Talk" and "The Garage," but neither of them cater to a specific gender and each one has a "welcome all" attitude. You want a gender specific section with a "welcome some" attitude. Anyone can post in your so called "men" sections. And I know, you will argue "but men could post too!" But you know full and well that any guy who goes the slightest off topic you all will shout and holler and anytime you guys go a little off topic there will be crickets. Not to mention, where is the demand? What's stopping you from making threads in "The Lounge?" What's stopping the lurkers from posting in threads that you make in "The Lounge?" Lurkers are just going to lurk.I see a lot of blame being pointed at us men, when I see no effort by the women here to even post in "The Lounge." You're not even willing to try it. You blame us men, but did it ever occur to you that the lurkers are too shy to talk about their crusty, bloody and slimy vaginas? That's why I'm saying if they're not going to post in "The Lounge," what makes you think they will post in a ladies section?
5/27/2011 5:30:32 PM
5/27/2011 5:42:58 PM
I can't believe people would screw around in a forum with this description:
5/27/2011 5:44:04 PM
I think the guys that are against this must also be thinking that there wouldn't be enough womens-only content to constitute the need for another forum, which hasn't been outright stated yet. As in, everything girls would want to talk about could be contained in a few threads.Girls, I think if you sincerely want a forum just for us, you need to address this issue as well.
5/27/2011 5:50:21 PM
5/27/2011 6:44:17 PM
5/27/2011 7:28:34 PM
Way to take that comment the wrong way. That is not even close to the worst/weirdest comment I have received. My whole point was to show that The Lounge doesn't equal a serious response. And for Ernie, I was wondering if any guys experienced night terrors but it honestly seemed like the most annoying/repetitive answers I got were mostly from guys. :\As for merbig, my answers are not contradictory. I think for some reason you're just totally against the idea and I don't think many of us get the hate. None of you have still answered this simple question: what is the big deal about us having our own ladies section??? For some of you to say it would divide the site is unreal. And L-O-freaking-L at the "welcome all" attitude for Sports Talk, etc. Please.Anywho, I have said what I want to say. Nothing ANY of us ladies say is going to change the minds of a few of you, but ya know what? You also don't own the site. So I'm not that worried about your opinions. That may be a snippy thing to say but when it comes down to it, the person we need to make our case to is not any of the recent posters bitching about it.IMO, I think there would be plenty of content to fill that forum. It might not be a new topic started every day, but I'm pretty sure many of these forums don't have a new topic started that frequently. I will also say I think I know some lurkers that would be willing to post there.[Edited on May 28, 2011 at 1:24 AM. Reason : .]

Merbig coming with a lot of blind and ignorant hate ITTLol at people who say a forum for women wouldn't get enough activity, when garage and tech talk have shit threads that date back two weeks ago on the first page. You people know how much women can talk, right? Or has TWW really denegrated to being a majority of neck beards alreadyHere's how things stand:1 - there is a demand for a lifestyle/women's subforum--related threads that would be made are discouraged and slated to be integrated into OFFICIAL topic threads (Lounge) which not only hampers overall discussion but leads to overall loss of information when a useful post is buried under 3 pages after a week--threads in chit chat about a serious topic have close to zero chance of staying on topic and are trolled into oblivion2 - female lurkers actively lurk, but are intimidated from posting by the actions of guys on here, most or all of which originates in Chit Chat threads. A lifestyle forum which could foster significant female and special topic interest without having to worry about high levels of OFFICIAL threads could lead to higher forum activity. A level of moderation similar to Sports Talk, Entertainment and Tech Talk to keep topics troll free would go a long ways to make it a successful addition.Could Lounge absorb it? Possibly. Lounge can fit nearly every other topic on TWW. Lounge is absorbing more and more thread topics these days. Do we really want to simply label Lounge as a catch all area? It isn't specialized, and as it stands many of my friends avoid it simply because they assume it is boring or has nothing going on in it. They instead stay in Chit Chat because funny shit is in there. Lounge has no definition, whereas if you have a specific forum that encourages say, cooking threads, a lurker could be all "hey, I'm interested in that" and check it out. Using Lounge as the catch all forces interesting ideas to be put into official threads, where people who do not subscribe daily (and I mean daily) will never see it. Is this a moderation problem? I don't believe so. These issues deal with overarching topics that could have their own whole damn website. The beauty of official threads comes when you have say, a trip to Las Vegas. Trying to find an apartment in Raleigh. You're moving to Fayetteville. You got a speeding ticket. Lounge official threads do not deal well with complex topics that would make up the majority of Lifestyle. Lounge also is great for say, landlord trouble, topics where your issue needs specific advice. Or your dog is acting out of whack and you're not sure what to do.Opponents, it seems, think that Lounge is fine to cover so many extremely different topics at once that I don't even want to type just a sample out. What the hell is wrong with diversifying this website to encourage unique, specialized, and most importantly new traffic?[Edited on May 28, 2011 at 7:03 PM. Reason : vh]I also will point out that a lot of the active women are premium members. Do we really want to piss them off by disregarding so harshly a suggestion to improve the site? Let it also be known that it is not only women who have wanted an additional thread. Plenty of male weight lifters alone would LOVE to have threads for specific issues. I think it would be fun to change things up for a bit. Everyone complains about it being boring and dead and how the same people are just posting over and over. If you want change you gotta try new things, kids. Honestly, participating in the "ladies movement" was the most fun I've had in a long time on this site. Maybe I will be less timid in the future because of it, even if this is a man's forum.
5/28/2011 11:59:07 PM
This is a man's forum!

From a business standpoint, qntmfred would be a fool to turn this down. Mucho $5 dollar bucks to be made on female aliases for trolling purposes.

Threads in Lounge are closed constantly because they fit the material of an official thread. It is the nature/law of TWW in general, but specifically the Lounge. A more specialized forum allows for specialized topics rather than being lumped into an official thread. Mods themselves are enforcing the rules, causing the need for expansion. Educate yourself on how TWW works.Women's need for a forum for expansion has been covered already, read the thread. At the same time, I'm not saying they need their own forum so why are you arguing about that. Read my posts. Not going to respond to the rest of your ignorant crap. This isn't soap box, so take a breath, educate yourself on how TWW works, read this thread for an explanation of the platform of a Lifestyle forum, and come back when you aren't arguing just to argue by ignoring the logical points we are laying out for proper discussion.
5/29/2011 8:04:31 PM
Now that^ is truly butthurtI really think giving any race religion or creed a special section is a little stupid. Maybe we should have a Christian section so you don't have to hear atheists challenging your beliefs? It is fucking stupid. [Edited on May 29, 2011 at 8:30 PM. Reason : asdf]

Yeah I'm not reading any of that, sorry. I've said what I need to say and am not here to argue semantics. Here's an example of a user who regularly comes to TWW for a single topic. I think it would be pretty great to get more quality, contributing posters like this who would see specialized threads they enjoy, and are given more opportunity to participate in themmessage_search.aspx?type=posts&username=SoundBoy4(Disclaimer: I don't know the person, or if its an alias, or if the posting pattern extends past page 1 of the search.)
5/30/2011 11:42:16 PM
I just don't see how a "Lifestyle" section would foster anything more specialized than a "home brewers" thread. It would only be a matter of time until someone would start a "home brewers" thread...And a thread about home brewing is definitely a niche topic. The only way to break that up IMO is to actually make a "brewing" section. And nothing is stopping SoundBoy4 from participating anywhere else in any other thread.
