The military is a bureaucracy like any other. What do you really expect? Efficiency?

Having served 5 years in the Navy, I would estimate that at least 90% of the people I worked with live paycheck to paycheck each and every month (mostly due to their own shitty budgeting skills). I was able to get out with plenty of money saved up and graduate college no problem. Learn how to save your money and dont bitch about not getting your paycheck, considering you gave up any right to complain when you signed on the dotted line. Peace.

yea, most marines are living paycheck to paycheck for a few reasons but mainly because they are paid so little. even though they live in barracks and have no bills besides maybe internet and a phone or car payment or whatever, they still find a way to spend it all. even when it comes to food and other living allowances, as a young enlisted marine, you could eat every meal at the chow hall and never pay an extra dime because you have actually already payed for it. but they dont want to eat there everytime so they eat out and that means paying twice. i am able to save up pretty good but if i made any large purchases or got loans for really anything, i wouldnt be able to save a whole lot. especially when your living somewhere that your housing allowance doesnt cover your rent and expenses.

they don't get paid a lot, but if you compare average ages and education of enlisted marines to salaries of people the same age with the same level of education they do pretty well

^^ well, the problem would be an 18 year old thinking he needs a car payment, not how little they get paid. ^yep
