So the first time I watched it, i cut it off after a minute because i thought it was horrible....

but then after reading some of the comments here, i decided to let it go further..
when it got to the part about "we so excited....sunday comes afterwards" and then the guy rapping in the car... I lost it laughing so hard. i can't wait to show my wife this when she gets home from work.

this can't be serious

"Well, she’s auto tuned to the point where she sounds like a gps, and her lyrics feel like they were free-styled by a suburban 12-year-old. Not only does she say that yesterday was Thursday, and tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards (pause for a second and think about how many times you’ve heard “afterwards” in a song, much less at the end of line), and that she says “fun fun fun” like a malfunctioning robot, she even says that her friends are kickin in the front seat and kickin in the back seat, and then wonders where she should sit, and she does that twice. I’d rather hear gunshots from my childs bedroom than a new Rebecca Black song."

God pull up this Ark Music Factory shit. Its great. Apparently its a "label" for parents to fork out the $texas to make these awful music videos with their kids. I think it may be run by Trizzy, as the name on the Youtube account is trizzy66, and he shows up in a few of the other videos. Hilarious shit.

I used to hate rappers for their butchering of the English language. But now I'm thinking Rebecca's constant, nearly perfect annunciation is even worse... just sounds strange.

and

WE SO EXCITED

At least keep things consistent - good/decent grammar and annunciation to "We so excited"... really?

those kids from ark are fucking horrible. don't get me wrong, they're still probably better than me. but i would never get onstage. on the other hand, it's entirely possible that for all of these kids, it's their first real performance, and they have reason to suck, and the production just far outstrips their shitty talent.

Not all the time. It really all depends on the delivery. "N" isn't a bad sound to sustain. You just have to make sure that you are singing it correctly.

I've listened to this twice - once halfway through her version and then all the way through the slowed down one.

I have no intent to listen to it again.

Wow. I find myself feeling really bad for the musicians in the background. I couldn't help but watch their faces the entire time, looking for any "I want to kill myself" warning signs. They either:

1) Really screwed themselves on the fine print in their contract with the devil
2) Suck too much to distance themselves from this sort of thing

This guitarist's soul just died a little more.

And yeah, it smacks of the music industry equivalent of those your child has been selected to appear in a book honoring some achievement or other - pay $39.99 for your copy! scams.

The guy calling, sounding have drunk, apologizing for not being there (likely on purpose) and wishing them luck was just icing on the cake.

Prom night parody:

If you're a starving musician in LA, you'll do shit like this for a paycheck.

And I agree, from everything I've seen, this is a service for rich parents to indulge their child's "I want to be a star and have everyone pay attention to me!" fantasies. The parents pay for a song and video and in the off chance that a star is born, hey, it's a win-win situation.

http://jezebel.com/#!5781706/the-mystery--mockery-of-rebecca-black

Quote :
"Dodai Stewart — The Mystery & Mockery Of Rebecca Black Rebecca Black's music video, "Friday," has gone viral, with more than 2.2 million views in a little over a month, and not because it's good. The song is comically absurd, with ridiculously simplistic lyrics; the video involves literally acting out those lyrics and features a bunch of kids trying really hard to seem happy. Despite all the "partyin, partyin" and "fun fun fun," the biggest question remains unanswered: Who is Rebecca Black, and who the hell made her video?

Here's what we know: Rebecca is 13 years old. Her video was made by Ark Music Factory in L.A. Ark is run by Clarence Jey and Patrice Wilson, and according to Black Book:

Their business model is simple: give them money and they will produce a formulaic pop song for your 13- to 17-year-old daughter, complete with video, and then your daughter will become a famous music star like she (you) has always dreamed.

Writer Gabe Meline has even more info about Ark Music Factory, and other "artists" they've worked with — including girls as young as nine years old. At left is a video from a singer named CJ Fam, whose Shirley Temple-eque curls and baby face seem at odds with riding in limousines while singing, "I want to be an ordinary pop star."

It's unclear whether Ark Music Factory is, as one reader emailed us, "creepy guys preying on rich kids' improbable dreams," or an indie label trying to break into a niche market — or both. But the popularity of Rebecca Black's video says more about the American public than it does about Ark Music. From Britney to Miley to Toddlers And Tiaras, we love to snicker at girls attempting to entertain. We delight in belittling and sneering at these young women. Oh, the media — and pop culture in general — teaches these kids that putting on a show is the best way to get everyone to love you. Rebecca Black (and girls like her) tapdance as fast as they can for our approval, and it doesn't seem to matter that people are laughing (and calling the song "hilariously dreadful") — it only matters that they're talking. Paying attention. Respect isn't part of the equation when popularity is the sole desired result. It's not fair, and if you get the sense that Rebecca Black is being used to someone else's advantage, well, that's the very definition of exploitation. But it's all about the exposure, right? As Rebecca Black herself Tweeted today:

Over 2.2 million hits! Fun fun fun fun! Thanks so much everyone! xoxo"
