If you don't hate Harrelson, then fuck you.]

My big butt always took the ramp, stairs to the 3rd floor felt like walking up to the top of Lee.I hated it when I would walk like halfway around counter clock wise to find a hallway to the inner ring, only to realize that I have to walk seemingly halfway around clock wise to get to the door to the ramp! I felt like a walking Masterlock. They shouldn't demolish it, even though its so hated but its part of the experience of being an NC State graduate... builds character.

Almost forgot I had thisDo you think its value will increase once Harrelson is gone and it becomes a collector's item?

Love it or hate it no one deserves to die in their 50's

Also if you could get the stall in one of the outer bathrooms you could open the window and view people passing by while on the can. Good times.

those stairs were brutal.
1/9/2011 12:40:05 AM
Harrelson Hall is cool. Fuck the haters.
1/9/2011 12:53:42 AM
the elevator in harrelson was the sketchiest elevator I have ever stepped foot in
1/9/2011 2:14:34 AM
all fall down all fall down
1/9/2011 3:09:53 AM
To bad they can't airlift this off campus, and just roll it down hillsboro st from Gorman to players retreat. Start fresh all over.
1/9/2011 3:47:03 PM
If they tear it down, then what about all the "its sinking into the ground" stories they tell at freshman orientation?

1/9/2011 7:23:03 PM
^^ dont worry, every single other college will keep the tradition going

Good thing that its coming down. Harrelson, Lee, Sullivan, Talley and the bookstore all need to be knocked down. Nice to see the Talley thing is getting underway.
1/9/2011 9:26:06 PM
I loved the stalls in this building, and the stairs that were so steep and edged with metal. I also liked the very confusing circular ramp and walking all the way around the floor to get to the class. What a pain in the ass.

Harrelson was just NCSU's way of making sure the science majors were getting enough exercise each semester.

WTF? Why not just extend the brickyard out to Dabney?
5/25/2020 10:38:35 AM
Pat Dabney Hall.
5/25/2020 10:47:55 AM
Where are all the unflushed toilets?
5/25/2020 11:46:10 AM
Picked up one of these last year for the Christmas tree.
5/25/2020 12:10:16 PM
well look at that.
5/25/2020 6:02:12 PM
The thing about the stairs that always got me even beyond their height was that if you picked the WRONG staircase, not only might you be late to class, you might never even find the class in the first place. It took a few tries to master the layout. [Edited on May 25, 2020 at 7:44 PM. Reason : ]
5/25/2020 7:44:03 PM
holy shit i had a nightmare a few days ago and it was all about going up the wrong staircase... i just realized it was a dream about Harrelson!

I remember having to use a fucking iMac to finish my matlab assignment because windows and Unix computers were all taken[Edited on May 25, 2020 at 9:32 PM. Reason : Matlad lol]

Rest in hell, dinner plate.
5/26/2020 7:46:23 AM
Harrelson Hell.
5/26/2020 8:18:29 AM
I am in the boat of it's sad to see her go. I think that it was kind of neat that there was no "main entrance" and that you just went to the stair case that you needed. Plus, the small seating areas made things much more personal with the prof. It was neat as hell to look at, too.
5/26/2020 9:05:19 AM
I think they screwed up by giving the professors the window seats. They should have put the offices in the middle corridor and let the classrooms have the windows. That would have gone a long way in making it a less bleak place to have classes.
5/26/2020 9:11:34 AM
And the boards would have had less curvature.

The only positive I remember is having a hot girl assigned to sit riggghht next to you, if you had assigned seating in a calc. class.
5/26/2020 1:24:03 PM
yeah, the seating never bothered me. Not because of the hot chick proximity, but it definitely helped the prof in keeping the class under control. In Dabney, for example, there'd be kids that would walk out to go get a cup of coffee during lecture and then come back in and sip their fucking coffee right next to me. I never had that type of distraction problem in Harrelson because everybody was in such a tight space. Ppl sat in their chairs and for the most part, paid attention to what the prof was saying.
5/26/2020 1:31:37 PM
I liked it. No complaints.
5/26/2020 1:36:53 PM
I vomited in Harrelson my first day of college. I drank a bunch of kool-aid that morning, and i guess i was nervous (i may have had beer the night before, don't remember). I was holding it in and jogging around the spiral looking for a bathroom, had to stick my head in a professor's room and ask for directions.

I believe that I had one class that had assigned seating, due to the cramped space. Prof basically said that he didn't want people wasting time looking for crammed seats every day, so he just assigned them. However, once the attendance and class size dropped after the first month, he didn't care any more.

It was the maple assignment that I had to use iMac the Matlab stuff I had remote access most times
5/28/2020 9:06:01 AM
I never had assigned seating but I mastered the timing of coming in at the right time to find my seat beside a hot girl. Cant be too early or too late. Stalk stalk stalk
6/2/2020 7:03:05 AM
^Was your strategy just wait outside the class until you see her go in then just go right in behind her and sit next to her?
6/2/2020 9:54:19 AM
I hope they rebuild it.So they can tear it down again.
6/2/2020 1:39:37 PM
I took my wife (also an alum), kid, and dog to University Plaza (formerly the brickyard) this weekend to see this space for myself and have a family picnic. The plaza was really nice and, while I liked Harrelson, it lends a more collegiate feel to that central area of campus. The green space with the whisper domes being in such close proximity also leaves the space feeling more natural than industrial, especially since you can see directly across the plaza from any vantage point. The picture above doesn’t give a good understanding of how large that green area is, but the space is massive, which gives you a good understanding for how large Harrelson really was. If you haven’t been, check it out.
