this QB camp stuff Gruden is doing with these guys shows exactly why you shouldn't draft any of them. All of them look uncomfortable as hell and can never answer Grudens question without hesitation. Compare their reactions to what you think a Rivers or Manning or Roethlisberger would have been like coming out of college...
4/23/2011 4:23:44 PM
roflsburger has, does, and will sound like an idiot.rivers is a little off as well.I guess I agree on manning being smart.
4/24/2011 9:41:07 AM
Rivers gives fine interviews, he's just really excited and enthusiastic at all times, plus he's adhd or something and really fidgety when he has to sit still. Always makes me laugh to watch him give interviews.Roethlisberger is retarded. He sounds like Simple Jack from Tropic Thunder.Little manning seems smart (he did great on the wonderlic at least, way better than his brother) but he's annoying to watch talk, he always mutters, and he answers every question with 8 cliches in a row.[Edited on April 24, 2011 at 10:14 AM. 4/24/2011 10:59:58 AM
That's really not funny, I was expecting something where they grade statements Cam Newton makes on some sort of lying scale. What is funny is how pissed UNC fans are about Newton and Auburn.
4/24/2011 11:28:39 AM
wheres the Butch Davis lie detector test
4/24/2011 12:43:54 PM
Butch Davis is apparently going to be a commentator at the draft lol
4/24/2011 1:29:53 PM
Him over TOB???!!! BULLSHIT!
4/24/2011 1:42:43 PM
^^^ i feel pretty confident if you asked butch davis those 4 questions he'd pass with flying colors
4/24/2011 3:35:53 PM
denver post ran something this morning on their (well, it was just one guy I guess) top 100 players for the draft. Nate Irving didn't make the list.I try to avoid NC State homerism, and I haven't been following the draft that closely this year (finishing my Ph.D. is a little more important right now) but is Nate really not a day one pick?
4/24/2011 5:49:56 PM
Day 1 is just the first round. So no.
4/24/2011 5:56:10 PM
well day one in the current draft format is Thursday and is only the 1st round so he's not first day material[Edited on April 24, 2011 at 5:56 PM. Reason : ^]
4/24/2011 5:56:51 PM
Even NPR is running stories to jack off Robert Quinn
4/24/2011 6:28:54 PM
I feel the need to point out that tj yates had clearly better stats than gabbert this yr in prob a less sophisticated offense, so for the love of god just pick dareus or peterson
4/24/2011 6:33:44 PM
i mean im not saying gabbert is any good but every time i watched unc this year yates was just throwing dump offs to johnny white that went for 20 yards a pop
4/24/2011 6:49:46 PM
Yates had a pretty good season, but it also seemed better than it really was because the comparison was the previous 3 years which were terrible
4/24/2011 6:56:22 PM
i just have a gut feeling that there's little to no chance the panthers pick gabbert. i also feel like if they don't pick newton, then he'll slide possibly to the teens or twenties. peterson all the way for me
4/24/2011 9:19:38 PM
i'd be surprised if we didn't either:draft Newton or Dareus or Peterson or Green or Fairley or trade down
4/24/2011 9:23:44 PM
trading down would be great, but who would go for it?
4/24/2011 9:51:30 PM
probably no teams, but i'd love to move down to the 5-15 range, draft a guy like Peterson or Fairley or Green depending on where we trade in the 5-15 range, and also get a 2nd round pick and get somebody like Ponder
4/24/2011 9:53:30 PM
Has anyone ever taken a CB at #1? Peterson sounds good but I don't know if you could draft him that high.ibtlmgtfy.
4/24/2011 11:44:43 PM
A corner has never gone #1
4/25/2011 12:30:35 AM
he's the surest thing in the draft IMO, so that right there tells me he's worth the #1 pick
4/25/2011 12:48:40 AM
marvin austin #1???
4/25/2011 4:50:19 PM
He's definitely #1 overall at overcoming adversity. A truly inspiring story.
4/25/2011 4:53:14 PM
4/25/2011 5:00:13 PM
part of the issue was the rookie pay scalea corner picked #1 would command a shitload of money based on previous #1 picks like QBs, DEs, Ts etc. and no one wants to pay an unproven corner that kind of moneynow if the new CBA calls for rookies to be paid much less, like it should, then i think it will change draft strategy to where teams would draft less historically popular positions in the top 5but who knows when the new CBA will be reached and teams will be able to sign rooks
4/25/2011 5:10:25 PM
Revis and Asmoguahgajhahgaha are two of the highest paid non-QBs in the league. Regardless of where they were drafted, that show tell you everything you need to know about the value of top corners in the league. Besides QBs and MAYBE pass rushers, they're the most valuable commodity in the game.
4/25/2011 5:30:10 PM
i would like Peterson, Green, or trade for the Panthersbut i have an inkling none of these scenarios will happen[Edited on April 25, 2011 at 5:34 PM. Reason : .]
4/25/2011 5:33:30 PM
^^^ i'd rather pay an unproven CB that kind of money than any of the QBs in this draft. besides, i think peterson has a combination of measurables and actual game film that leads me to believe he'll be a really good player[Edited on April 25, 2011 at 5:37 PM. Reason : .]
4/25/2011 5:35:47 PM
agree 100%the Panthers could use a player like him in the secondary. he's so versatile that he could play safety or corner depending on matchups and situational schemes
4/25/2011 5:41:48 PM
Peterson is much better at man coverage than zone (watch LSU's bowl game), I don't think he would be a good fit at safety in most defenses.Have him cover the other team's best wideout in man coverage every play of every game.ha[Edited on April 25, 2011 at 6:08 PM. Reason : pic]
4/25/2011 6:02:08 PM
peterson reminds me of charles woodson, not an eraser like revis/aso
4/25/2011 6:39:40 PM
Having seen many of his games, and several games in person, Peterson never impressed me that much. I mean, hes a really really good college CB, but I just dont seem him being more than a solid starter in the NFL
4/25/2011 6:52:02 PM
^this. Not getting all the love for Peterson...especially as a #1 pick...wtf are you guys smoking?? He's a good CB, but there have been better corners come out in recent past that haven't warranted a top pick.
