They just cancelled that today then, guess they hit their quota early.

I discovered an exploit in the multiplayer that makes it absurdly easy (yet boring) to solo an entire wave by yourself. With practice and luck you could probably solo an entire gold mission.

Vanguard + Maxed out Charge (perks to reduce your cooldown) + Maxed out Nova (perks to reduce cooldowns) + carrying only the very light pistol that grants you 197% power cooldown reduction. For added effect, buff out Fitness and Training or w/e to give you max shields and health.

With this build you can Charge an enemy then immediately Nova. Your cooldown is less than a second (for some reason the initial charge/Nova has a bit longer cooldown), and the invulnerability of the charge plus the knockback of charge/Nova means you can Charge again with ease, eventually bouncing all over the map killing enemies. I've taken down turrets and Atlas mechs solo doing it.

You can still die, such as if the Atlas luckily grabs you after a charge, but its highly unlikely that you die mid-combo. The bigger cause of death is during the time after killing your target and trying to find a new target, since at that point you're generally shieldless. That and Guardians are hard to kill, since neither Charge nor Nova will damage them and you have to shoot them.

I soloed a few waves on Silver with a buddy before he got tired of it .

Yeah I saw someone doing that earlier.

Vanguards, damn kill vultures

Then he just HAD to get that last kill, and we missed out on the 15000 point extraction bonus. Hope that extra 230 points was worth it

Krogan soldier is absolute beastmode.

It's probably not as powerful as the human vanguard but damn is it more satisfying. On bronze you can one shot anything except the Atlas with melee, including the sword chicks that give you like 1000xp. And your "light" melee attack kills assault troopers if you upgrade it. You can also take out an Atlas pretty quick with melee if you get behind it.

Also he's got like 1400 shield and 1200 health.

How do you get the Krogan? do you just keep getting veteran boxes? I played with someone playing as 1 and it was damn impressive

The random prize award system kind of pissed me off. I want shotgun accessories on my vanguard, not sniper shit.

Yeah just keep taking the veteran boxes. Recruit boxes rarely give you anything good.

Only thing I hate about the random prize is when you get the same gun again and it just gives you a slight upgrade. I mean I know that's better in the long run, but for demo purposes I just want to get as many guns and classes as I can ASAP

^^I'm fully replaying ME2. I had previously finished it as full paragon and saved everyone. This time I'm doing full renegade and letting as much as my crew die as possible. You have to let two people live in order for Sheperd to make it out of the Collector ship alive though, so I'm gonna let Morinth and Thane survive. I figure that Thane will die of his disease soon enough and Morinth will just go around killing people anyway.

http://masseffect.com/space/

The rocket from San Francisco is currently on flyout. I'm not sure how big the rockets they are using are but if they are going into space then it's possible although extremely unlikely that given enough wind the one being launched in NY could end up landing on this side of the country, lol.

Also, I just read that there is DLC available for ME3 prior to the launch date. That is ridiculous. They have this extra content that they could have easily included in the regular game but EA just wants to squeeze every last penny out of you.

Yeah people are pretty pissed because (without spoiling anything) the content would contribute quite a bit to the lore and history of the ME universe. DLC for ME2 was optional stuff where you wouldn't be missing much.

So let me guess, you'll track the rocket and its coordinates, find where it lands, rush there, and its a GameStop.

^hahaha

Looks like the rockets are pretty small... the two launched from San Francisco landed fairly close to the launch site which is pretty lame. I doubt they actually went into space.

If DLC's added a good bit of content then its worth it, but most aren't; at least not for their stupid prices. I only paid $2 for fallout DLC's and they were worth it, but not at $10... Considering they only add a few hours each and they have like 5 of them, that's the price of a whole fucking game that didn't really add any anything to the main story line.

That can be said with everyone else's DLC. I didn't buy any ME2 DLC, but if I did, I would be more willing to spend $20 for an actual expansion DLC that added a lot of content than $5-10 for crap. I don't want to be nickel-ed and dimed to play a damn game.

i bought either 1 or 2 of the FO3 DLC, and I one of them increased the maximum level cap by 10 levels, so that seemed kind of worth it

^^I'm glad someone agrees with me, haha. I feel like a minority when I read comments on Kotaku.
I'm perfectly willing to pay for expansion content, but a majority of DLC feels like a money grab to me than a continuation of the game.

So the plot for ME3 is that you fight to save earth and the galaxy. Assuming they don't go to far off the beaten path, you (shepard) will win somehow.

So Shepard will do what many many evolutions of civilization could not..... Defeat the reapers. Remind me again why the reapers destroy all advanced life again? To protect themselves or do they "absorb life" or whatever?

How is it that Shepard is going to best a super advanced alien race (and supposedly super intelligent) with weaponry based on reaper tech? Throw all the armies and fleets of the galaxy at them and you might be able to save 1 planet. Oh, but I am sure there will be some loop hole for them to actually win or some bs.

Why would the reapers even let civilization get to a point where they have the weaponry to even damage a single reaper?

Maybe I just need to replay mE1, I seem to have forgotten everything because ME2 HAS ALMOST NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REAPERS!

^It never specifies why the reapers destroy all intelligent life but I feel like it is some kind of way that they eat maybe? I don't see why it would be to protect themselves, if it were then they wouldn't hide out for 50,000 years then just come out of nowhere. They'd just hang out in our galaxy and kill life as soon as it becomes intelligent. I guess that Shepard can defeat them using info he got from the collector base and help from the Protheans.

Mass Effect 2 explains this.

They enable organic life to develop along very rigid guidelines with technology they developed, then use that life for reproduction.

The reason this "generation" has a chance, while the others didn't, is because through the help of the Protheans (who came close to breaking the cycle) and the efforts of Shepard, the Reapers didn't have a chance to shut down the Relay network, which basically isolates local star clusters from the rest of the galaxy, letting the Reapers pick them off at their leisure.

What mechanism prevents the reapers from being able to shut down the relay network? I assume this was done in ME 1.

They have to either get the Keepers to do it (which was prevented by the Protheans)

Or they have to do it themselves like Sovereign tried to do, but if they try that the Citadel will just close itself up. Saren had to invade the citadel with his Geth army to prevent them from doing that the first time.

The entire reaper invasion seemed so anticlimatic...

I was thinking ME3 would be nonstop missions to prepare for the reapers, like ME2, where each choice/upgrade leads to a different outcome. I was thinking it would end with an epic battle... but in the demo it goes straight from "The reapers are coming lets get ready" to reapers knocking over buildings like godzilla.

I just hope the writers have some cool idea in mind for the ending of the trilogy... hopefully not something like "shepard runs and guns through geth and husks and then shoots out the batteries of the boss reaper and the end".

Yeah, I would have expected the attack on earth like a mid game kind of deal.. not right off the bat. Specially since all the shit that happened in ME2. Atleast play a little bit of delegation between ME2 and ME3 with the council doing stupid missions to get their approval for working together with the onslaught of a reaper invasion in the near future...

Seems stupid that they didn't have some sort of coalition already at the start of ME3 since it takes place one year after the attack in ME1/ME2.

I was kinda hoping that they discover some rare tech that helped with inter-galactic travel and request the aid of more advanced races from someplace else or some stupid shit like that... (stargate something something... blah blah blah).

Anyhow, ME3 MP isn't bad, but yeah, those damn Adept's are OP; they keep stealing my kills and make my Vanguard look like a tool.

Just in case people don't know, at the end of a MP match everyone gets the same amount of points.

They just add the whole team's point total together and give it to everyone.

I wished they added a normal fucking textbox chat system... I don't want to use a heatset as the only way to communicate to crappy 14 year old players who have no sense in what the proper volume for your mic should be...

Sad this game only uses 20-30% of my gpu power.

^^textbox chat? admittedly i have yet to play the ME3 demo, offline or online, and i realize how annoying screaming kids can be on XBL, but do you really want to have to pull up the guide and type in a message during the heat of combat?

Since he mentioned GPU I'm pretty sure he means PC. You just have to push T, type what you want, and hit enter.

gotcha...like i said, havent played the demo...just seems like on PC/360/PS3, voice chat/party chat is the easiest way to communicate...but maybe i overestimated the combat frequency of ME3...i was equivocating it to getting an XBL text message during a game of COD Team Deathmatch

Doesn't really seem like reapers need infantry... also doesn't seem like they need to kick over small buildings like a toddler playing with legos when any space ship's weapon is pretty much the equivalent of a asteroid/dinosaur extinction/doomsday weapon.

I guess they need to have Shepard look all heroic though... but I think a giant ass ship battle would be way more badass.

Infantry is to help round up people to create new reapers.

Knocking over the buildings is destroying infrastructure, shock & awe, and because they don't need everybody.

went to gamestop looking to preorder the CE. no go. looks like its unavailable everywhere else online. Was available at target online, but i'd have to shell out 15 extra bones to get it shipped on release. Gonna say fuck it and pick up the standard ed and spend the extra money i would have spent on alcohol
