tony lister will forever be bane in my heart

I could do without Bane, I could definitely do without Catwoman. The first two didn't disappoint though, so I'll have to wait and see.

meh. we'll see. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Good choice for a smart huge villain[Edited on January 19, 2011 at 7:05 PM. Reason : hjh]

so bane is the main villain? I always pictured him as more of an enforcer, it might be interesting if they make him smart though I dunno
1/22/2011 12:14:44 AM
^I'm pretty sure that Bane is way more than just an enforcer. His whole claim-to-fame is that he wore Batman down not only physically, but psychologically as well.Bane caused a massive break-out at Arkham, then sat back and observed Batman as he tried to capture them all again. He studied Batman's techniques and tactics, and got to know him so well that he was even able to deduce Batman's real identity. Then he finally made his move and beat the ever-living shit out of Batman, in the sanctity of the bat cave of all places, snapped his spine in two in front of all of his trophies, then tossed him onto the streets of Gotham like yesterday's garbage, bloodied and humiliated in front of a whole crowd of people.Bane is a giant brute, this is true. But he's also extremely clever and cunning. He broke Batman physically, mentally, and spiritually. He destroyed Batman's carefully crafted illusion of invincibility. Bane took virtually everything away from Batman, and all on the first try.

Despite what the animated series would have us believe, Bane is actually very smart.[Edited on January 22, 2011 at 1:09 AM. Reason : Oh, and Batman & Robin]
1/22/2011 12:55:11 AM
...and Bane was also created in the gimmicky 1990s era of comics. Really surprised he made the cut for villains here. Catwoman, however, gets a nod.

I would say Chris Nolan's Bruce Wayne isn't at that point yet to adopt a kid. He is still a wealthy playboy with not a care world.
1/22/2011 5:03:49 AM
so...after batman had his back broken...what happened next?

haha "Eventually wayne is healed through paranormal means and resumes his role as batman"gotta love comics...

1/22/2011 10:19:23 AM
I guess I'm in the minority, I don't even remember him from the other movie (I guess maybe because I've only seen it once)the Knightfall series is like the only Batman comic I've ever read
1/22/2011 10:30:03 AM
1/22/2011 11:17:27 AM
i'm gonna be kinda pissed off if the final image of batman we see is him with a snapped spine lying helpless on the street
1/22/2011 11:24:37 AM
there's no way it will happen because there will be a lot of pissed off people, not just you
1/22/2011 11:27:12 AM
I'm really hoping Bane breaks his back in the movie. I doubt it would cut to credits right after that, though. I could see Lucius having a break through on a treatment method followed by some kind of redemption music being the final scene.
1/22/2011 11:36:30 AM
I would love to see some other criminals try to get on Bane's side or try to get Bane to help them and he just beats the crap out of them. I imagine he would look down on almost everybody except Batman and maybe a few other high profile characters.Never read any bane comics btw
1/22/2011 11:43:50 AM
While it won't happen, making Bane the main villain would have been a great opportunity to film 2 movies back-to-back (ala matrix, POTC but less shitty). Bane could break his back at the end of the first film, then allow a significant amount of time (2-3 years) for him to recover and finally defeat him at the end of the 2nd film.
1/22/2011 1:16:09 PM
i personally was hoping for Killer Moth or KGBeast
1/22/2011 2:08:37 PM
So does this mean that we get to see the epic scene where bane breaks batman's back? I hope so. It could mean the end of christian bale's heyday, and the beginning of Tom Hardy.
1/22/2011 11:36:48 PM
is bane's name supposed to be like "bane of batman's existence" .. maybe thats stupid or obvious but i dont know anything about many of his villains
1/23/2011 12:26:05 AM
i just have this picture in my head of bruce going to the circus, seeing dick grayson become an orphan, and adopting him soon after. bruce soon realizes dick has issues and begins training with him (like ducard/ras did with him in batman begins). grayson wants to fight, bruce tells him he isn't ready. towards the end of the movie bane breaks batman's back and leaves him in the middle of the street where a crowd gathers. the next scene is 3 months later and we see bruce overlooking gotham from a skyscraper sitting in a wheelchair, finally at peace. the picture immediately cuts to street level where we see "batman" (now dick grayson) either fighting or riding through the streets on the badpod/batmobile. while this is happening alfred is giving a speech about how batman is an idea, not a person, and as long as there is darkness there will be batman./credits

I actually own both the Knightfall and Death of Superman comics, including those associated with each character's revival. The purpose behind both of them was to enliven a flagging brand at a time when people weren't buying comics as much. I remember when it was first released, I was actually pretty pissed off that in the span of a few comics, they completely erased the fact that both Superman and Batman had essentially been "killed," which was huge. It's like saying the whole J.R. getting shot thing was just a dream in Dallas. For those people who actually remember where Bane came from, it's not hard to see him as a master villain. The Knightfall storyline itself could actually easily be made into a movie. Following on the heels of The Dark Knight, where the Joker was manipulating everyone like a puppet master, it would seem a little too copycat, but the overall plot is pretty much perfect. Batman beating the hell out of a bunch of smaller villains who are interesting in themselves (like Firefly), Bane popping up a little in the background as the plot develops more, and then a huge showdown at the end.I was looking forward to Bane in Batman and Robin, but it was a real letdown.
1/23/2011 2:53:27 AM
can't not think of this: I really wish that movie hadn't ruined the thought of bane for me...
1/23/2011 3:52:48 AM
i wonder if he'll be smart enough to protect his Venom tubes this time.
1/23/2011 4:05:57 AM
I'm hoping there really are no venom tubes at all. Hell, I hope they don't even called it venom, just use some medical term for it. Have him snort it or shoot up just to make it a bit less corny. Also, IGN made a good point that Tom Hardy is 2 inches shorter than Christian Bale so I'm thinking they are probably not going for anything ripped right out of the comics. I have faith after Scarecrow, Joker, Ras all turned out so well. On another note, I am interested to see how they construct a new Batcave and Batmobile while Batman is a wanted man. I'm sure Lucius can help to an extent with designs but somebody has to build that stuff for them. I have no doubt they'll explain it, just looking forward to hearing how.

I watched TDK last night for the first time since seeing it in the theatre. That movie was done so well, I really dont even want to start worrying about how the next movie will turn out, Nolan has done an amazing job re-inventing the series.Someone mentioned above, but, did Nolan really say that he wanted to end the series with Bane breaking Wayne's back? even though I think dubcaps called out a very likely ending, I cant see anyone (i.e. director) leaving Batman paralyzed or in a wheelchair as their lasting image of the series.
1/23/2011 7:40:43 AM
I watched The Dark Knight also last night for the first time in a while...it was on TNTHD....forgot how awesome it was in some parts. I also really like the soundtrack and the "main theme" that plays a lot
1/23/2011 8:40:14 AM
I really like the idea of Nolan breaking his back. That single event is the most interesting thing to happen to batman. Same as superman dying.
1/23/2011 9:29:53 AM
it's called the dark knight RISES, correct? kinda hard to rise when you're fucking paralyzed
1/23/2011 10:55:24 AM
maybe it's referring to his cock when he sees hathaway
1/23/2011 11:02:34 AM
^5 Nolan said this is the end of his Batman story, and he's been on record saying it many times. He didn't say anything about how it would end. I simply said it would be a sweet way to end his trilogy. I think it's a scene that would take serious balls to include, and Nolan is the man for the job in my opinion. I do not think the movie will end on a downer though.I also do not think that Robin will be in this movie. I could see Dick Grayson having a cameo as a fun easter egg, but being introduced to Bruce Wayne's alternate world...I doubt it.Edit: http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=28612^6Agreed on the venom tubes. I don't think Bane had tubes in the comics. I'm going to assume that he uses injections like Blade or some shit.^^So at the end of TDK Batman took the blame for the Dent and Dawes murders so that Joker wouldn't "win". He was wanted by the police, they smashed the bat signal, etc...Gotham turning back to their need for Batman and reconstructing a new bat cave is plenty to warrant the title The Dark Knight Rises. It's perfectly possible to end the movie with Batman/Wayne in some type of physical duress, and still live up to the title TDKRises.[Edited on January 23, 2011 at 11:28 AM. Maybe a new dark knight rises? E
1/23/2011 11:55:48 AM
No
1/23/2011 12:10:42 PM
1/23/2011 1:02:16 PM
The Dark Knight Rises also plays well with the line in TDK about how the night is darkest before the dawn, but the dawn is coming. May be obvious, but thought I'd point it out.
1/23/2011 2:54:03 PM
actually bane wasn't that dumb in the cartoon now that I think about, he kind of profiled and followed batman for a while I think, I just didn't like how they made him seem fake in the end once his steroids backfired
1/24/2011 10:16:42 PM
Not a fan of the obvious tubes. To easy a target for batman
1/24/2011 10:18:09 PM
Still waiting for Batman Triumphant
1/24/2011 10:24:06 PM
i don't have a problem with tubes for the simple fact that if bane is smart, (which apparently he is) he will probably wear some revolutionary piece of clothing such as a jacket over them.
1/25/2011 9:38:55 AM
^Revolutionary jacket??
1/25/2011 11:08:59 AM
1/25/2011 2:23:00 PM
Tubes under a jacket are not obvious tubes.Obvious tubes are obvious.
1/25/2011 5:28:45 PM
Much like Joker's perma-white, Nolan will more than likely take some creative liberties with the character Bane.If he decided to even have Bane addicted to Venom or some other strength-enhancing chemical, I'd be more inclined to believe that it's something he injects on his own. It could even be pill form ...My point is, I'll be very surprised to see ^ that Bane. Remember, we didn't see this Joker ...And correct me if I'm wrong, but the "Secret Six" Bane doesn't have tubes anyway ...[Edited on January 25, 2011 at 6:43 PM. Reason : ]
