This bullpen is dreadful. On the bright side it won't cost us the division and a legit shot at a title like 2008...

Obviously still VERY early but Ike is OPS+'ing 170 (higher now after that two bagger). Showing a good eye and hitting for power. He plays gold glove defense at first base too. Hard not to be excited about him.

Just looking at some minor league stats, the UNC kid Harvey is dominating as is Mejia, Familia and Holt (which is great to see -- scouts still like him).

I know haha. Pretty much all teams I pull for are the "Mets" or "NC State" of their respective sport...or at least it seems that way lol.

I've gotten my hopes up on Mejia before and was let down, so he needs to prove his stuff in the majors before I believe it.

Mejia was 19 last year and was being mishandled like crazy. His numbers weren't awful either. Not great, but not awful.

I'm not saying I have no hope or I've given up on him. I just don't want to get excited about him until he comes into his own.

Despite the heartache I know I'll inevitable have to suffer, I purchased mlb.tv so I can watch these bums daily.

What a god aweful call...Reyes' hand never left the bag, even when Hairston tried to push it off (which you can't do anyway). After the homer it should be 3-2 Mets. Reyes has every right to be pissed...and I'm pissed too. If we lose by 1 or if this goes into extra innings I will be even more upset.

I'm impressed, last year's team would have given up in the 8th. The managerial change keeps looking better and better.

(Note: impressed with this win, not as much with the streak. Arizona and Washington are both awful. If they manage to keep this going against the Phillies then it will be worth something).

^I agree...no need to get too carried away with wins over AZ and WAS, but the streak, after a poor start to the year, is encouraging . But the team didn't give up tonight and that is certainly encouraging.

how long until murphy gets put back intot he starting lineup? Play second, bat second. I also think its about time to move Davis up in the order. Here is what I would like to see:

Reyes
Murphy
Wright
Davis
Bay
Beltran
Thole
CF (Pridie, Harris, Hairston)

When Pagan comes back I think you put him second, Murphy 7th, and Thole 8th. I don't know if any other team has such a complete lineup. If any of the younger outfielders begin to develop then Beltran will make great trade bait, hopefully for a starting pitcher.

^^ I'm an idiot, but I always thought the MCL was only in the leg.

Anyway, Jose Reyes is tearing it up. He's almost certainly going to be traded They should get a boatload for him...

Game postponed today. Ike Davis strained his calf last night and left the game early. I saw this on twitter:

Brian Costa of the Wall Street Journal posted that.

I'm definitely surprised at how well Beltran has been playing this year. .294, 8 HR, 24 RBI. Not bad at all. He's gotten right back into the groove coming off that injury.

if he keeps it up my only issue will be justifying playing him over Braun, Upton, Holliday and Ellsbury at Utility...thats what I get for picking 3 OFs in the first 4 picks

so to get back to the mets and not fantasy stats, if reyes and beltran both continue to produce and the team is being considered a contender for the division around the trade deadline, do you trade either or both of them? or keep the team intact in hopes that they will continue to surge? the pitching needs really need to be addressed which means to me at least one of them has to go in order to get better arms.

if it comes to that, i'd rather trade beltran and keep reyes. a leadoff hitter just seems too hard to replace. i hope he gets an extension.

^If we have to trade one then I definitely agree that we should trade Beltran over Reyes. I'd love to keep them both...but Beltran's health is almost always a concern, and he's definitely not worth his current contract. Reyes will be very hard to replace and I would pretty upset if we did cut ties with him (either at the deadline or offseason).

Not going to happen. Also no one is going to offer up much for Beltran due to his contract unless the Mets eat most of it.

IF the team looks capable of contending when the trade deadline comes around. I wasn't implying that they are right now.

Reyes hits leadoff only because he's fast. He walks less than Christopher Reeve. Give me an OBP machine any day.

went to the mets/astros game yesterday.

hopefully this pending sale of the astros can change some things. maybe some change in direction to get more fans in the seats, and create more interest in the team...

it was kinda sad really. beautiful park, great day, cheap tickets ($6.. srsly), maybe 15% full.

the loudest the crowd got the entire game was to boo beltran.

nothing really pertaining to the mets, but just a general statement to the indifference of the astros fan base right now.

Good news is the Mets are up 1-0 on Josh Johnson and the Marlins in the 5th. Pelfrey on the mound. Justin Turner with the RBI (he's been playing very well lately)

would have been great to win last night but you have to give props to Pelfrey. Outpitching Johnson is not an easy task.

if wright and davis were in the lineup i could see things turning out better.
