The best place for Chinese in Charlotte is closed now it was Shanghai at Quail Corners, but Crosland wanted them to go Month to Month on a lease and they said f that. Shun Lee Palace is good.If you want good Mexican or Tex-Mex go to Cantina 1511 on East BlvdIf you are in SouthPark Montford is the best place to go for Nightlife and the cab ride back to the hotel wouldn't be to expensive.
9/23/2010 9:56:49 AM
I am checking out Paco's Tacos tonight, it's Tex Mex in Southpark and owned by the same people that do Cantina, Big Daddy's, etc. (some good casual restaurants in Charlotte). Will let you know how it is.
9/23/2010 10:01:08 AM
I'm not going to read this thread, but go to the Tilted Kilt. The waitresses there are half naked and most of them put out.
9/23/2010 2:17:33 PM
Paco's Tacos is awesome. I highly recommend going there if you're in Southpark.
9/24/2010 2:39:45 PM

So here is what I did:Went to some shady place with work folk called 5 Steps. Almost got shot, got to see a cool chick fightWent to 2 places in Ballantyne. Not sure of the name of the first place, "Something" Tavern. Then went to Cosmo. Was offered blow by several people, including a pretty hot hispanic broad. Told all of them that if it was 5 years ago, I would have gladly taken them up on the offer.'All in all, I am not a Charlotte fan. Can no one drive the speed limit in that town?
9/27/2010 12:15:06 AM
5 Steps DownShun Lee is cool and everything, and I remember Great Wall when it was on Montford back in the fucking DAY but Bao Ding is the shitI am glad nobody has claimed PF Changs to be the best, since its good but just some chain bullshit
9/27/2010 12:18:41 AM
Although I will say, if I was still into cocaine, I could have a BLAST in Charlotte.
9/27/2010 12:24:09 AM
btw, Shun Lee Palace is where I learned to use chopsticks like 20 years agoDoes Frank still own that place?[Edited on September 27, 2010 at 12:25 AM. Reason : ^no comment]

So the whole reason I was there was to work an event at Festival in the Park. It reminded me of a hippy version of the State Fair. Did you go?
9/27/2010 12:26:21 AM
i was at the lake all weekend but I've been in past yearswe used to smoke weed in the woods at freedom park in high school, but then cops started patrolling the woods cause fags were fucking there]
9/27/2010 12:30:24 AM
yeah, the fuzz was all over that jointbut seriously, i never realized the yayo game was so strong in Charlotte. I think I could get an 8 there easier than a nickle of weed.

eye opener for sure. good thing I moved to Greensboro instead of Charlotte when I left Raleigh, or else I would probably be locked up
9/27/2010 12:38:03 AM

I had fun at The Forum on Friday night, and Dharma Lounge was pretty cool when I went Saturday. Dharma would've been a lot more fun if I had any energy left.

lol crowleysI wish I could remember the name of the bar I went to after Baileys wedding- it is down the street from the fire fighters old training center (hell, they may still do training) with the big reception hall and what not
9/27/2010 10:03:11 AM

sit in your hotel room and wish you were any where but charlotte
9/27/2010 2:46:13 PM
^^^you're probably talking about the Palmer school on 7th Street right near where 7th turns into Monroe...so the bar is probably Jack's or something in the 7th/Caswell area
9/27/2010 2:48:45 PM
If you wanted blow, you should've just asked meI keep a mound to pitch from
9/27/2010 2:49:39 PM
So funny seeing people that live in Greensboro, Durham, Raleigh, bumfucknowhere talk shit about Charlotte. You people need to work on your inferiority complex. I'd probably be all "charlotte is poop" too if I was stuck in a shittier place and wanted to make myself feel better, but at least act like you are trying. The only thing those places have over Charlotte is that either:A) you are from thereB) you went to college there[Edited on September 27, 2010 at 2:57 PM. ^^^that sounds right (the area that is)it was a cool bar that really had like 3 bars in it, and huuuge patio/outside/cornhole set up. It wasn't downtown (at least it didn't feel like it- had a very neighborhood-y feel to it)can't remember the name of it, but they hooked it up for us, and didn't seem to mind that one girl in our group threw up and another guy in the group flat out passed out in his seatLivinProof78 might know the name- she was there too[Edited on September 27, 2010 at 2:53 PM. philosophers stone! thank you TT for clearing that up for me
9/27/2010 2:57:02 PM
no problem, kind sir
9/27/2010 2:57:52 PM
some chicks i know rave about Jack's karaoke night on Thursdays. i've yet to take them up on the offer though. Philospher's Stone is nice, but seems like a strange place to choose for post wedding debauchery.
9/27/2010 3:09:50 PM
I got kicked out of Jackalope Jack's during the World CupSo now I boycott it
9/27/2010 3:11:18 PM
^^we were already wasted (I think most everyone just had 1 or 2 more beers at the most), and it does have that cool big outdoor bar area (and the reception was at the palmer building place so we were just up the street)
9/27/2010 3:17:41 PM
^^haha I believe I was there for the World Cup. Not for long though.

is anyone familiar with Madison's Bar and Lounge? is it downtown? any decent hotels within walking distance?[Edited on December 28, 2010 at 12:40 AM. Reason : 115 E. 5th St.]
12/28/2010 12:39:58 AM
Madison is a small but fun place. I enjoy it. It's uptown in the middle of much of the bar scene. Hotels nearby...umm I would consider any hotel uptown to be nearby as the center city isn't all that big.
12/28/2010 3:16:48 AM
good deal...thinking about it for nye
12/28/2010 4:37:38 PM

Is there anything worthwhile near the airport? Friend of mine has an 8 hour layover there today. I know there's that little aircraft museum on the grounds but that won't take much time.
8/18/2016 10:25:10 AM
If I had 8 hours to blow, I'd take an uber or taxi to either:The whitewater center. Walk around, have a beer and lunch on the patio, etc.Old Meck Brewery - again, pizza for lunch and nom on beer cheese and pretzel and beers, watch tv for a bit.Uptown - walk around and do shitReally just depends on whether you friend has been to Charlotte before, what he likes, etc. 8 hours is enough time to do whatever he wants.
8/18/2016 10:51:52 AM
I don't think he has...he's from out west. Thanks for the ideas.
