So I'm in a big group, with a senior as the group leader. Half of us in the group are seniors (I know that doesnt really matter). And we didn't get awarded tickets, wtf
9/10/2010 1:42:50 AM
I'm not a big fan of the ticketing system. I'd rather have something similar to the WPC where if you really want a ticket, you can get up early or campout and go get a physical ticket. That way those that really want one can get one and we can avoid all the group stuff.
9/10/2010 1:45:19 AM
Yea, I've never been denied a ticket, idk if its some problem with the ticketing system or what. I know last year once or twice it said I wasn't awarded a ticket, but then somehow mysteriously later that day I had one.
9/10/2010 1:47:11 AM
whole group got tickets. I'm a grad student and the group leader is a senior if that's any consolation here's to skipping seminar for football
9/10/2010 2:42:10 AM
Never not gotten a ticket...That being said, it's only phase one, quit your whining.
9/10/2010 3:38:23 AM
2002. The last time we started 2-0.
9/10/2010 7:36:26 AM
fenway That is the way it used to be done, but SG started taking front row tix for basketball before the general distribution, so athletics took the distribution out of their hands and made it the online lottery. It happened a year or two before me, but that was the explanation given to me for the online lottery.
9/10/2010 8:30:33 AM
^ Yes that is what happend......It use to be you had to go get a voucher in person. If your voucher won then you had to go back and pick up your tickets. I thought it was alot better like that because it weeded out all the ppl that were to lazy to walk up to the window and get a voucher.
9/10/2010 11:41:45 AM
I think if the students got behind the idea to return to vouchers then they could make a legitimate push. I hated the GA idea too, just because I would rather tailgate for a little bit longer which meant I would end up in NEZ or SEZ. I was always there for Player Intros, National Anthem, etc. but I just didn't want to be there for an hour of warm-ups.I think Vouchers would be a good idea for the claim 1 period and then online for the 2nd round (for those who aren't as serious about going to the game). It seems like Dr. Yow is up for trying new(in this case old) ideas.

^swpc
9/10/2010 11:59:24 AM
Yep, one on the huge advantages of the SWPC is having assigned seats in section 6 allowing for tailgating, while keeping your good seat.
9/10/2010 12:01:03 PM
^^ Well when I was a student I didn't have much time for attending other athletic events. I tried to make it some soccer games, but I couldn't commit. And if I was at another athletic event I would be too busy watching to do homework like some SWPC members do...
9/10/2010 12:11:23 PM
Honestly if its something you want to do theres no excuse for missing sporting events while you're in college unless you actually have a class scheduled or a job. If you can't budget your time to have fun, you're probably fucking retarded. I mean I got annoyed having to go to some of the really shitty events like tennis or gymnastics but otherwise I had a lot of fun doing it and still did fine in school.
9/10/2010 12:59:50 PM
I think swimming and soccer were the worst, but they were all well worth the better seats in fball/bball

^^compared to tennis you're wrong, although we sucked total balls at soccer all but 1 year I was there in mens and womens so that made it tough, even though I don't mind watching college soccer in general.
9/10/2010 1:04:41 PM
I only remember 1 tennis event in my 4 years in swpc, but I don't remember it being that bad, and I can't stand soccer but I do remember getting riled up and yelling at UNC players when we played them
9/10/2010 1:06:50 PM
My memories of SWPC would be them showing up 5 minutes after basketball tipoff with the female members sitting down in the front row seats while texting on a phone.

i haven't had a problem with the ticketing system. i don't miss a game and i sure as hell want to be there but i don't want to have to go to Reynolds to get a ticket every time. the only time i haven't gotten a ticket for football in the first lottery is the South Carolina game last year, and i got one for that game as soon as on demand opened. if you go on the ticketing website at 12:01 when on demand opens it's incredibly easy to get a ticket, i helped three friends get one this way last Wednesday.

^^ My last comment on this subject: I never had a ticket problem either, but I see in Classifieds: Senior been to every game and didn't get a ticket. Even after they moved to GA I still think they have a problem with overcrowding the sections. Oh well my student days are done for now, and this is an agrument for another day.^ You're right we got off on a tangent there.Go Pack 41-28. T.J. Graham has another great game. The reason this lottery ticketing system was created was because of a campout for a UNC game that included burning cars and couches, trashing campus, and other such issues. This was a year before I came to school. I am not sure where you can dig up the article, but as you can imagine drunk partying college kids wreaked destruction. SG tried to do a modified campout/lottery so only a few groups could have the experience. I was under the impression this happened like once a year for basketball tickets still.......The actual big SG scandal: There was a system of SG handing out lottery tickets to students at Reyold's Collesium. Then the next day if they won, the ticket office would give them a ticket. SG never actually handed out tickets to students. The athletic department did.......If a student government member worked the window they were suppose to get tickets. So the ticket committee chair would give out a pair to ever senator who worked at least an hour. What happened is that the people in charge encouraged SG members to take 2 lottery vouchers every hour so that they would win and then the SG allotment would go to the ticket committee's friends/fraternity.I will say that I worked the window and scanned IDs and it was a totally thankless job, esp in Jan for the big ACC games and it was like 15 degrees outside in the morning when I could work. There were strict rules about to whom we could give tickets to (if their ID didn't scan, how many IDs did they bring for scanning, if their was a card error, guest ticket allotments). I would say that the online system is probably more fair. The tickets are free because of student fees. When students do not fill the student section for a game, it hurts the total allotment. So if there is a non conference Bball game in Dec. and only 15% of the student chairs are filled, that counts against the allotment. When I was a senator, I can promise that the athletic dept. came in with the numbers of tickets vs seats and mostly students only go to the "big" games or if the team is doing well....ie fair weather fans. Then how much more money they would make if they could sell those prime court side seats.

^informative but maybe a bit unnecessary. That being said a ticketing system restructure would be nice.

My cousin (Nick Cattoi) is the kicker for UCF so I'm pulling for him...but GO STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
9/11/2010 2:19:09 AM
Just dreamed the end of the first quarter. UCF only has 66 yards total offense but 13 points because we have 3 turnovers already. UCF has one. We were up 14-13 but ucf had just got down to the 9 yard line. They got a false start and then a 14 yard touchdown run up the middle. 20-14 ucf, first quarter.[Edited on September 11, 2010 at 2:35 AM. Reason : 3 first quarter turnovers]
