Everyone has later classes tomorrow so it is probably gonna be a 20" pokey stick tailgate. No complaints.
9/15/2010 4:05:28 PM

9/16/2010 12:48:01 AM
I have class tomorrow but I am deciding to go tailgate at noon instead. I love my life.

Kind of related. Best eats of the ACC per NO VA writer.http://d1scourse.typepad.com/blog/2010/09/the-best-eats-in-the-acc.html#tp
9/16/2010 7:00:26 AM
article from last week about the NC State experience... it's not very complimentary to students in particular but interesting to read nonetheless
9/16/2010 8:20:43 AM
^^some of those places are terrible choices for "best eats"
9/16/2010 9:22:51 AM
^yes. Agreed. And of course HD commented yesterday on this article. She also picks some pretty shitty eats.
9/16/2010 9:35:20 AM
anyone with experience know where the best place to tailgate is for this weekend's game at GT?
9/22/2010 10:43:40 AM
4^ That guy has some incorrect info in his article. He said he heard everybody scream "OH" during the national anthem and he said we didn't adopt the word Wolfpack until WWII.

I have several co-workers who are VT fans and they have asked me for tailgate location recommendations. I honestly do not know where the best place would be for him. He mentioned the last time that he parked in the Cardinal Gibbons parking lot. He does not have a pass. I invited him to our spot in the West Lot but he said that he had several people and that they wanted to do their own thing. I want him to have a good spot and have a good time, getting the best experience of NC State tailgating. Any ideas? In the past I have seen several visiting teams' tailgates in the Vet School parking. Is this a good place for them?
9/29/2010 7:52:14 AM
Tent will be set up regardless of any of us have tickets to the game. Also, we will have a 61'' tv to watch all the other games on. BOOM.^tell them to get there early and yes that lot by the vet school would be good. tell them to stay away from students cause we do get drunk and obnoxious. they WILL have to get there very early though.[Edited on September 29, 2010 at 7:57 AM. 9/29/2010 7:56:07 AM
^^Vet school, or pay to park in the office building lots off Blue Ridge
9/29/2010 8:17:57 AM
i wish the lots opened earlier
9/29/2010 8:37:21 AM
you don't pay in the vet lot right? And how much is parking in the commercial areas off Blue Ridge?
9/29/2010 9:41:23 AM
normally 10 bucks
9/29/2010 9:42:37 AM
k. thanks.
9/29/2010 9:48:22 AM
seriously my best recommendation is to fork up whatever on craigslist and buy a pass from someone selling. i cant imagine trying to tailgate somewhere else other than the lots we have. there really isn't much option, unless you like tailgating in a KMART parking lot.10am. this is the week i grill hokies (gamehens).
9/29/2010 10:23:21 AM
anybody have beef-ribs-grilling recipie/advice? going to try my hand at it for tailgaiting this weekend
9/29/2010 3:01:23 PM
^^make sure it's legit though. i know someone who bought a counterfeit last year (although they still used it)
9/29/2010 3:05:41 PM
brining the turkey breast tonight
10/1/2010 9:00:26 AM
10/1/2010 9:47:42 AM
^that seemed to be the consensus. switched to grilling turkey breast. Thanks gunzz
10/1/2010 1:31:41 PM
^dude its so easy. 1) cut racks of ribs into quarters2) boil for 1.5hrs before you go to the tailgate3) throw em on the grill on low heat and glaze them4) let em get hot and let the glaze caramelize on them. keep adding glaze.5) take em off the grill when they are nice and hot and they will fall off the bone and be delicious.easy as that.just pick a good BBQ sauce that you like, and when you boil them dump a can of beer into the pot, some salt, pepper, and garlic powder. thats how i like to do it.this is a really simple recipe that you can pull off.

Tomorrow morning... everybody thirsty/hungry?
10/8/2010 10:35:58 AM
i spent $157 on tailgating supplies, food, drinks, etc last week. this weekend i am doing bloody marys and bojangles chicken. i have to cut some expenses this week.
10/8/2010 11:18:27 AM
This Saturday's drinks will be Bloody Marys, Irish Carbombs, and Bush Light. Food will be all kinds of breakfast fare ranging from bojangles biscuits to casseroles. My buddy got a DirecTV dish last week for like 20 bucks. I brought my receiver out and after about 25 minutes (first timers), we got the satellite set up and had HD satellite TV all day. It was great, esp. for those of our friends who couldn't get tickets but still came to tailgate. Next time we'll have it figured out and it should only take 10 minutes to set up. I'd highly recommend Satellite TV for afternoon/night games.
10/8/2010 3:07:59 PM
We will be making eggs bacon and chocolate chip pancakes. and drinking. in no particular order.
10/8/2010 5:17:33 PM
burgers, hotdogs, apple pie drink, and beer
10/8/2010 10:58:56 PM
Last game we made sausage, bacon, pancakes, and eggs on my iron skillet on the grill. was fucking wonderful. We had so many leftover pancakes I was giving them away to random people as I walked into the game (and people actually ate them )Deepfrying a turkey and making buffalo wings this game. Also doing some fried okra, and probably making funnel cakes for dessert. Looking forward to it... I might also make my famous tailgate chili... I didn't make it last year, but it's time for a revival. Sam Adams Octoberfest has always been my tailgating beer of choice, followed by miller lite for flipcup and whatnot. I'm not sure what I'm going with this game, as I'm about done with Octoberfest this season. ducking out of work right at the bell (I will probably take my last class to an "on campus field trip" near the parking lot at the end of class.)... Also taking the day off on Friday. (teacher work day anyway.)
10/26/2010 9:26:37 AM
I wish tailgating season lasted all year
10/26/2010 11:53:13 AM
hey, become a hurricanes fan and it can
10/26/2010 12:03:00 PM
huh... didn't think about that... the problem is, i don't know a big group of hockey fans like i do football fans.
10/26/2010 12:08:47 PM
they are rather a rather approachable species. hockey tailgating is my favorite, no time restriction and less fans to any given game = always getting your preferred spot and just less hassle period. the tailgate for the game against Pittsburgh on Saturday is going to be special.
10/26/2010 12:44:29 PM
I got stuff and made batter for funnel cakes... i hope it works... never made them before!
10/28/2010 8:41:55 AM
T-3 HOURS UNTIL FLIP CUP!
10/28/2010 11:19:18 AM
T-2 hours until I fire up the turkey fryer!
10/28/2010 12:37:41 PM
major tailgating success. The wings turned out great. My buddy made homemade jalapeno poppers which were the best i've ever had. Funnel cakes were fucking amazing... I made a triple recipe of the batter and filled up an old coffee container with it... they tasted better than the ones at the fair. (probably because of all the other shit we cooked in the oil.)We made so much we were handing out funnel cake on the way into the game... we were asked a few times if the funnel cake was roofied.
10/29/2010 10:20:53 AM
This Saturday:Pancake breakfastThen...Deep fried turducken. Funnel CakesChili"Corn Dogs" (Using funnel cake batter!)not sure what else yet.
11/9/2010 10:49:35 AM
this saturday...deep fried turkey injected with italian and spices.
11/10/2010 9:28:21 AM
Italian dressing? that doesn't sound very good. I'd get the cajun marinade stuff... is good.
11/10/2010 1:55:01 PM
italian is delicious. injected into the meat. love it. i do a cajun seasoning just under the skin and a little on top.
11/10/2010 2:18:42 PM
we fed many people with funnel cakes! we also deep fried hot dogs in pancake batter and made makeshift corn dogs!
