3 pages of shitty beer

I was hoping it would be good too. Support the Wolfpack blah blah blah but so far I don't see myself buying their product again.
11/22/2010 10:03:12 AM
We carry their red at bada, I like itWould like to try everything else...need to make a brewery run. I don't live very far from them so I really have no excuse not to
11/22/2010 7:18:15 PM
since when? is it bottled? I'll give it a try tomorrow night...
11/22/2010 7:24:15 PM
Nah we've had it on draft maybe a couple weeks now
11/22/2010 7:28:16 PM
Damn I had no idea. It will be one of my 3 beers tomorrow then!
11/22/2010 8:05:00 PM
Yeah of the two I tried the red was definitely better. I'll be interested to see if Mac's continues to carry their stuff.
11/29/2010 4:31:10 PM
We've got the Cinnamon Porter on tap at work right now Not that great, IMO. The after taste isn't so good, and if you burp after having a glass, it tastes like some sort of nasty plastic.
12/1/2010 2:30:57 AM
I liked that porter.

Met Ryan and his gf the other night at work, cool guy. Think I might run out to the brewery this evening for a few berrs
12/1/2010 2:06:24 PM
The porter is ok, it would be better if the cinnamon was a more subtle taste. It kind of overpowers everything else the way it is. I like the red though, it's about the only thing I'd refill my growler with...
12/1/2010 2:27:28 PM
I less than three cinnamon, so it was good to me.

On groupon today. 2 tours for $10.http://www.groupon.com
1/31/2011 11:37:40 AM
That's $5 too expensive... per person
1/31/2011 11:45:14 AM
$10 gets you 2 tours, samples, 2 full glasses of your choice and you get to keep the glasses. Not a bad little deal for something different to do with a date.
1/31/2011 11:48:24 AM
thats definitely not a bad deal
1/31/2011 12:12:03 PM
^and ^^ Free is not a bad deal either Big Boss Brewery, Aviator, Lonerider and Carolina Brewery all give a FREE TOUR and gets you a couple free beersnickeling and diming people is no way to build a fanbase. Not too mention that they regularly charge you $10 for the tour at Roth...Damn they have already sold 975 of these. Maybe they are smarter than I thought. Slap a price on a free tour, make $10,000 - the cost of 20 kegs of produced beer....$profit[Edited on January 31, 2011 at 1:42 PM. Reason : ...]
1/31/2011 1:39:31 PM
I thought it was a joke that they were charging so much money at their grand opening
1/31/2011 1:55:47 PM
Uh, Big Boss does free tours?Like, what, all the time?EDIT: I mean, the catch with Big Boss is they only do the free tour thing once a month.
1/31/2011 1:57:16 PM
^^^Yeah... I was going to say, isn't that what they normally charge? Are they throwing something extra in that I'm missing?[Edited on January 31, 2011 at 1:59 PM. Reason : 5]

Big Boss BreweryOur brewery tours take place the second Saturday of each month at 2pm. No reservations are required. The tour is guided by our staff of brewers and will take you through our entire facility as you learn about the beer making process. This takes 30-40 minutes (depending on how many people attend). The tour is free. Sample brews are available for $1 each up to three. Please allow extra time for parking!Dates & Times:02/12/2011 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM03/12/2011 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM04/09/2011 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM05/14/2011 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM06/11/2011 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM07/09/2011 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM08/13/2011 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM09/10/2011 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM10/08/2011 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM11/12/2011 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PMSo now they charge $1 sample, they used to give you two drink tix at the tour. Anyone know if the samples are still pint sized?
1/31/2011 2:01:06 PM
dont know how long "used to" is,but since the middle of last year (when i first went) its been $1 per beer. and its not a pint. its at most a solo cup worth. maybe 12oz..?? still a good deal for $1.but you get up to 3, they have more beers in their little bar area that are a bit larger, but cost more.the tours do start at 2, but the line gets reallllyyyyy long by then. but dont worry, it may look like you're not gonna get in but pretty much everyone gets in from the few times ive been. and most people are there just for the $1 beer, once you do the tour its all the same. the bar upstairs is pretty neat as well[Edited on January 31, 2011 at 3:27 PM. I went one time, and knew the Roths vaguely. It's worth a try anyway, they definitely make some unique blends, I thought they had some good/decent ones. The glass I have is pretty badass too.I don't live in the area anymore or I might go back sometime.Just don't go expecting some polished, super professional venue, it's just some guys who like making beer and wanted to make a go at it.1,129 bought on groupon, I hope they don't run out of pint glasses haha[Edited on January 31, 2011 at 3:50 PM. I wonder whatever happened to BeerzPLzlol
1/31/2011 4:44:21 PM
Well..unlike Big Boss, Carolina Brewing, etc.. these guys are a "nano brewery" (apparently that's a term). They don't bottle, they don't have a huge facility. They're just trying to make some money. And if 1,000 people are willing to pay $10 for 2 tours, samples. 2 full beers and you get to keep the glasses...they must think that's not a bad way to spend $10. Honestly, a damn meal at McDonald's is around that.Anyway, you guys should be critical of the beers, but TELL Roth Brewing so they can make the beers better. They've only been doing this a little over a year, and not even all in the current facility.
1/31/2011 9:09:28 PM
i got this grouponfuck it. $5 for a tour, some free samples and a pint glass. why not?
1/31/2011 9:18:13 PM
Does Roth have a patio or outdoor drinking area?
2/18/2011 6:41:35 PM
Went for a tour last weekend. The Foehammer easily was my favorite, but the red was pretty good too. During the tour a few of them were playing warhammer, so they speak pretty fluently in nerd Met all the guys and they're all pretty cool. I plan to make a return trip soon.http://www.rothbrewing.com/home.shtml^ nothing outside, just a small bar area
3/30/2011 10:54:26 AM
girl you ask to bump a lot of threads... why don't you just pay for premie
11/4/2011 9:43:10 AM
haha I know. I keep meaning to but I don't have an active paypal account Anyhoo, anyone know if they sell kegs to the general public? I would call them but they don't open until 4pm and I'll be out of the office by then. I don't order office kegs on my personal hours
11/4/2011 9:45:58 AM
you dont need paypal, i did mine through google checkout with my CC
11/4/2011 9:47:03 AM
Oh yeah? Is that a new thing? I swear last time I tried to do it it was paypal only.
11/4/2011 9:49:31 AM
i dont trust any brewery that leads with a red.
11/4/2011 11:29:31 AM
Their red is actually pretty good. Was not a fan of the cinnamon porter at all.
11/4/2011 11:30:18 AM
It's terrible. Utter trash. They seem to be more in to raging than brewing from what I heard...
11/4/2011 11:32:49 AM
lolz. consider the source. wolfpackgrrr has a stupid palate
11/4/2011 11:35:00 AM
The Roth Red sucks.Every time it's the fire sale at the Flying Saucer I'm all
11/4/2011 11:36:12 AM
And of course it always is because Saucer realizes they can't fetch more than $3 a pint for this liquid feces.
11/4/2011 11:37:39 AM
The cinnamon is overbearing and dries out your mouth. And really needs to be filtered.
11/4/2011 11:40:58 AM
^disagree.and every time i've had roth red at flying saucer it has sucked.and every time i've had roth red at backyard bistro it was great.some quality control issues here.
11/4/2011 11:44:54 AM
Ive had the red a couple of times where it is good... I think it is just one of those beers that there are a few diamonds in the rough, but most of the time, it doesn't fly. they also do a terrible job of describing the beer- the several other "flavors" i've tried taste nothing like they are supposed to (not saying they are bad, just not what they are marketed to be)it doesn't help their cause that the majority of bar managers and restaurant owners I've talked to said that one of the Roth guys is a total doucher (they said the other guy is cool though). If the guy running the bar doesn't like you, it cant possibly help your credibility

11/4/2011 11:46:48 AM
Haha, how did I miss this thread? That's hilarious that wolfpackgrrr was the only person interested in this shitty beer and that dude came in here and got all pissy that she did some good detective work on them. Also
11/4/2011 11:56:28 AM
lol yeah pages one and two of this thread were full of
11/4/2011 11:59:37 AM
I've been unimpressed, to say the least, with most of what I've tasted from them. The Raleigh Red wasn't very good at all any of the times I've tried it. I really like the guys, though. However, they had an IPA called Sex Viking last summer that was seriously one of the best beers I've ever tasted. Maybe it was the right batch, on the right day, at the right time for my mouth, but it was heavenly.
11/4/2011 5:02:07 PM
I'm being a dick in here obviously but I'm not averse to trying some of their other stuff; just that Red was just not my thing. Is ^ that IPA a full-time brew or just a seasonal/special brew?
11/4/2011 5:11:35 PM
Well problem solved, I had to go to Lonerider to drop off some kegs and just ended up ordering another keg while I was there
11/4/2011 5:34:21 PM
If you haven't tried thier dark construct stout DO IT! first time i had it i was like it's easily their best beer followed by the hammer red and porter. awesome guys i used to work with 2 of the other owners.
